Visited the café on the grounds of Shuzenji Temple every day. The hojicha affogato with finely crushed rice crackers is excellent with ice cream. The lemon matcha shaved ice has lemon pulp inside, which is a delightful touch. A refreshing break during a hot day walk. Saw a few travelers from overseas as well.

It was a nice cafe where you could enjoy tea on a sunny day. In addition to cold-brewed green tea and black tea, they also offer coffee, matcha, and sweets. The cold-brewed green tea had no bitterness at all and went down smoothly. I thought it would taste even better if I drank it when I was thirsty. The traditional Japanese sweets were wrapped in white bean paste, but the outer layer was a bit dry, which was disappointing. There were several other sweets available, but it seems they sell out quickly if you don't go early.

Sakura and Strawberry Mont Blanc - ¥1300 A Mont Blanc dessert available only during cherry blossom season. The freshly squeezed Mont Blanc cream is fluffy and has a subtle salty sakura flavor that is delicious. Inside, there is a whole strawberry nestled in soft whipped cream! You can enjoy not only the sweetness but also the refreshing sweet and sourness of the fruit. Matcha cookies and matcha sponge are also used, adding a delicious crunchy texture. They also seem to have a focus on tea, as the green tea we had was delicious without any bitterness. The bitterness of matcha matched well with the vanilla ice cream. Sprinkling the accompanying brown rice added a nice texture. The staff were friendly and easy to talk to. I would definitely like to visit this cafe again for a casual stop.

They are currently having a special exhibition called "Three Gates to Liberation." However, my goal is not there. I am here for the special menu item, the "Freshly Squeezed Mont Blanc." After visiting the main hall, I head over to the cafe. I secure a seat, place an order and pay at the counter, which costs 1600 yen. I wait a few minutes at the terrace seat. Here it comes! The "freshly squeezed" Mont Blanc is in front of me! It's a generous portion. When I dig in with a spoon, it crumbles softly. On this day, they were offering the opportunity to climb the main gate of Zojoji Temple (Sanmon Gate), and I decided to give it a try. However, my mother found the stairs too steep and decided not to climb. While I was climbing, she waited for me at this cafe. The main gate is definitely worth seeing. I thought it was great to climb it and returned to the cafe. I ordered the pomegranate soda that caught my eye when buying my mother's drink. It was sweet and sour, very refreshing. Climbing the main gate involved climbing narrow and steep stairs like a ladder, which really took a toll on my nerves and stamina. As always, if I had room in my stomach, I would have wanted to try the freshly squeezed Mont Blanc, but as always, I didn't have the capacity and had to settle for just a drink.
