On this day, I had to accompany my mother to the hospital, and on the way back, we decided to have lunch in Takenotsuka. We thought about having eel, but since my mother was feeling a bit of summer fatigue, she preferred something light like sushi. I searched on Tabelog and found that there was only a Sushiro around here, so we decided to go to this restaurant in front of the station.
The menu looked good, and we were impressed. When we entered, the staff asked us if we wanted a table or counter seat. My mother doesn't like closed spaces, so we chose the open counter. There were remnants of a conveyor belt sushi system on the counter, with photo menus for each seat.
My mother couldn't decide between a set meal with sashimi, tempura, and small dishes, or the Special Lunch Sushi Set for 1280 yen. I ordered the Today's Favorite Nigiri for 850 yen and a Salmon Belly for 220 yen. All lunch sets came with small dishes, chawanmushi, and miso soup, which was quite reasonable.
The restaurant also had a wide variety of side dishes written on the wall. The sushi was not as high-end as in Ginza, but the fish slices were thick, the rice was delicious, and the sushi was generously sized. The salmon was especially delicious, and even the steamed shrimp, which I don't usually crave, was fresh and different from chain restaurants.
The atmosphere was calm, with a partition separating the table seats in the back. Everyone seemed to be enjoying their sushi with a happy expression. It made me appreciate the skill of sushi chefs even more. My mother also enjoyed the meal, and it turned out to be a great lunch. I will definitely visit this place again.
