I have never tried soup curry in Hokkaido, but I have visited a few places in Tokyo that piqued my interest. This time, I searched for "Shinjuku Sanchome lunch" and found a place near Isetan on the map. I saw a sign a little off Meiji Street and went downstairs. There was a sign on the wall above ground that said it was a location from the anime "Nami yo Kiitekure." I've watched the drama, and I was surprised by the main actress, Karata Erika, who always has a different appearance and way of speaking. She speaks quickly and fluently, and I was amazed by her versatility as an actress. The compact restaurant has 4-5 counter seats and 7-8 tables for 2 people. I tried the following dish: - Oyster Soup Curry 1800 yen. It's a limited-time menu even though it's midsummer. I chose a level 4 spiciness from 5 types of soup. The soup contained 4 oysters, a boiled egg, deep-fried vegetables (potatoes, carrots, eggplants, burdock roots, pumpkins), shimeji mushrooms, baby corn, and watercress in a thin soup. The soup had a unique aroma, slightly spicy, and delicious. However, I felt that it didn't go well with the oysters, which was disappointing. The plump, large oysters had a good texture. The vegetables were not as large or voluminous as at other restaurants. The turmeric rice seemed to have a mix of long grain and japonica rice, cooked firmly and perfect for dipping in the soup. The staff were all friendly and attentive, which was nice. The location is convenient, and I would like to visit again to try other colored soups.
