On weekdays, it was not as crowded as on weekends, so I visited for lunch. The fried rice had a good base and was tasty, but I didn't quite like the ingredients included such as cucumber, paprika, squid, bacon (probably). It was a bit different from what I expected for a "Gomoku" fried rice.

After several years, I visited this restaurant again. Once I decide on a place to go, I don't really cheat on it. The fried rice was okay. It wasn't too salty or greasy, just average. However, I didn't like the noodles in the ramen. They were thin, which is fine, but lacked a wheaty taste. The texture was kind of rubbery, which I'm not a fan of. Next time, I'll go for a rice dish.

We visited as a family. There were chairs for children, so it's okay to bring little ones! There were other families there too. The staff was friendly. The Chinese food was reliably good! The large dumplings had a strong ginger flavor and were delicious. However, the children who don't like ginger didn't eat them.

I had white sesame tantanmen and washed it down with oolong tea. It might be difficult to dine alone. Since there are only table seats, ordering just one dish and eating it feels awkward. The taste was average, neither good nor bad, just an ordinary tantanmen.

I stayed at Sunshine Prince and when it was past 8:30 PM, most of the restaurants inside Sunshine were closed, and I was afraid of becoming a dinner refugee. This restaurant was open and saved me. There is nothing special to mention, but the food was delicious for the price. I was surprised by how quickly the food came out. I'm glad it was open!笑

On the 3rd floor of Ikebukuro Sunshine, there is a Chinese restaurant (chain) that serves dishes such as fried rice, sweet and sour pork, noodles, dumplings, and xiaolongbao. They also offer set meals. The pork and pickled vegetable fried rice had a nice balance of sweetness from the pork fat, and it was delicious. The xiaolongbao that came with the set meal also paired well with the sauce.

Today, I came to Sunshine City in Ikebukuro. I visited the restaurant called Red Tiger Dumpling House. Since it was late, I was seated right away. The atmosphere is like a typical Chinese restaurant. I ordered the shredded pork with green peppers today. The taste was quite delicious. I don't come to Ikebukuro often, but I will definitely visit again.

Today, I had lunch at Gyoza no Ohsho, where I enjoyed pan-fried gyoza, stick gyoza, large gyoza, green onion vinegar gyoza, shrimp and squid spring rolls, and bottled beer. It had been a while since I last visited, as the restaurant moved from Yurakucho to Ginza. The food was still delicious, although the stick gyoza seemed to be cooked for a shorter time than usual. It seems like many of the restaurants I used to visit have changed a bit, but the meal was still enjoyable. Thank you for the meal.

This was my baby's first time eating ramen at a restaurant, and of course, they wanted to eat the kids' ramen replica they saw! We visited on a weekday at 11 am when there were hardly any customers due to the current situation. I ordered the Santan ramen for myself, which came with a toy and juice for the baby. The Santan ramen was hot but delicious, with ingredients like mushrooms, bamboo shoots, thinly sliced meat, and beaten eggs. The baby enjoyed it so much! The kids' ramen set seemed a bit pricey, around 700 yen, and the juice was 20% apple juice from China, which was a slight concern. I also tried the vegetable soup on another day, but for the same price, I felt the Santan ramen was more worth it. The restaurant had hand sanitizers and acrylic panels on each table, so it felt safe to dine in. Depending on my baby's request, we might visit again soon!

My image of New Year's Day every year is always the same - being forced into an "I Am Legend" situation in Ginza. The streets are sparsely populated, with only a few people walking around and restaurants open for business. Despite the desolation, it's still Ginza, so I know it's not completely hopeless. After watching a movie, I usually end up going into a restaurant that's open, clinging to any sense of normalcy. However, this New Year's Day, I found out that the restaurant district in Sunshine City in Ikebukuro was fully operational from the first day of the year. Additionally, I remembered that Seibu Ikebukuro is one of the few department stores that always open on New Year's Day. So, I decided to spend New Year's Day in Ikebukuro this year, still feeling skeptical. When I arrived in Ikebukuro on New Year's Day, I was surprised to see that the city was quiet but life was continuing as usual. I decided to check out a chain izakaya and was excited to find a bottle of Jim Beam for under 2,000 yen. After watching a movie at 5 o'clock, I decided to continue my exploration in Ikebukuro and ended up at "Koukou Gyoza Bo Ikebukuro Sunshine Branch." I chose a restaurant based on my picky eating habits and decided to try something different from what I usually eat. I ordered the "Black Sesame Tantanmen" for 1,012 yen. The staff asked if I needed a paper apron, but I declined. I wanted to maintain a sense of masculinity, even in such a trivial matter. The experience of being watched by the staff made me a bit nervous. As I ate my meal, I felt a sense of tension. I imagined assigning numbers to each staff member, but I knew it wasn't the right time. I focused on breaking through the strong barrier of black sesame on the noodles. I may not be an expert in ramen, but I confidently attacked my bowl with my chopsticks.

The dumpling skin is not too thick, and the filling with chives and garlic is delicious. It only takes about three bites to finish one. There is little to no meat juice. The cold tantanmen has less noodles than expected, but the spiciness is just right and easy to eat. The half-char siu rice has a gentle flavor and is slightly dry. It is delicious. Highball pairs well with it. Large dumplings are very welcome.

On February 6, 2020, I visited a restaurant for lunch with my wife after she went to apply for a passport at Sunshine City. It was a cold day, and I had wanted to try a famous ramen shop, but the thought of waiting in line in the cold was unbearable. Instead, we stumbled upon a chain restaurant and decided to give it a try, not expecting much. The place was about 60% full during lunchtime, which was understandable for a weekday. I ordered a Kirin Ichiban beer in a bottle and then debated what to eat. I was interested in the dumplings, but the set meal seemed like too much, so I decided to order one as a set and one separately. The set meal was an additional 250 yen. To my surprise, the soup and pickles arrived first. The soup was extremely spicy, almost like a chemical attack on my throat. It was not good. Then, the dumplings arrived - Hon'you Gyoza and Teppan Bo Gyoza. The Hon'you Gyoza looked very spicy, but it was actually lukewarm and not tasty at all. The Teppan Bo Gyoza was also disappointing. Overall, it was a wasted lunch, and I regretted not sticking to my initial plan of going to the ramen shop. I won't be returning to this restaurant. It was a calorie waste, and I couldn't even say "thank you for the meal."

I visited this store for the first time. It's crowded during lunchtime because it's in Sunshine City!! They can hold your stroller at the register. The Tomato Tantanmen wasn't bad. It's not spicy, so it's mild and easy to eat. I also ordered fried rice because I have a small child, and it was a lot!! But it had a gentle taste and was delicious. They can lend you a spoon for your child. They also have baby chairs. It gets really busy during lunchtime, so it might be tough for parents with children. The seating area is not spacious enough to accommodate a stroller, so it might be difficult if you need to bring one.

Shopping with my family at Sunshine, we decided to have lunch at this Chinese restaurant at 11:30 to avoid the crowds. It was already starting to get busy as more people kept coming in. I chose the soup-less tantanmen, which had a delicious meat miso sauce that paired well with the medium-thick noodles. The sliced green onions added a nice balance with a hint of bitterness. The gyoza was not available this time, but I will try it next time. Thank you for the meal.

Beef soba for 1382 yen. There was plenty of beef in it. However, the beef was not tasty. The balance with the noodles was also off. I thought this was a place where you can't go wrong with whatever you order, so I was disappointed. I could hear the cheerful voice of a Chinese chef from the kitchen.

I visited Koutora Gyoza-Bo in Sunshine because I wanted to eat my favorite jumbo dumplings. It was a weekday lunchtime, so the restaurant was packed with office workers. I was luckily seated at an available table and ordered the jumbo dumplings (4 pieces) and a combo set. The combo set allowed me to choose two dishes, so I picked the oil-splashed chicken and mapo tofu. The food was served in about 10 minutes. The jumbo dumplings had thin skin and were filled with juicy meat. They tasted amazing when eaten with rice. The mapo tofu was quite spicy, but it went really well with rice. I ended up eating too much and my stomach was full. I love the jumbo dumplings at Koutora Gyoza-Bo.

On Sunday, there was a wait of four groups to enter the restaurant. I thought the food might take a long time to come out, but it arrived quickly!! Looking around, the turnover of customers is also fast! Everything was delicious, but I especially liked the white sesame tantanmen♡ The spicy flavor is addictive.

●November 15, 2018 (Thursday)●I visited a Chinese restaurant in Sunshine City, which is known for its dumplings. I had never been there before, but this time I decided to try it out. The cheapest option was the daily lunch special for 950 yen. Although there were a la carte noodle dishes for under 980 yen on the menu, if you added dim sum or other items, it would easily exceed 1300 yen. I wanted to keep it under 1000 yen, so I ordered the daily lunch special which was stir-fried seafood and broccoli with rice, soup, and pickles. The Chinese dish that arrived was more upscale than I had imagined. It wasn't too salty and seemed to cater to health-conscious individuals. It was well-prepared and delicious. It felt like a Chinese dish tailored for Japanese tastes, and what people vaguely envision as "delicious Chinese food" might refer to something like this. The pickled vegetables and soup were average, but met the standard, showing that the quality of this chain restaurant is high. I wanted to try their famous dumplings, but no one around me had ordered them. Perhaps it was because it wasn't evening, and dumplings are more of a drinking snack. I had some preconceptions about this slightly more expensive chain restaurant, but the quality of the food justified the higher price, making me want to visit again.【Rating】★★★★★★★ 7/10

Located on the 3rd floor of Ikebukuro Sunshine City. There were 2 groups of customers waiting at 12:10 on a weekday, and it took about 25 minutes to be seated. Today, I ordered the shrimp wonton noodles and they were delicious. According to the building's website, "Red Tiger Dumpling House is a lively Chinese restaurant spreading throughout Japan. Popular dishes include the sizzling iron pot dumplings, hearty Beijing-style sweet and sour pork, and a variety of dishes such as fried rice and noodles. You can enjoy a wide range of dishes at a reasonable price. The chefs from various parts of China prepare the food with all their might, and the energetic Chinese language used for ordering stimulates the appetite." It's true that the volume and price are better at the Marunouchi store.

The tantanmen is spicy enough with just one chili mark.
