I ordered pig's trotters. I wouldn't say it was bad, but the pig's trotters came with a soup that was thick and gooey. It's tasty, but it feels a bit lacking to be considered a signature dish. Are there customers who come back for this? I don't think so. All the grilled meat options are pork, including horumon. I tried a few, but other than the pig's trotters, the meats were nothing special. I don't think I'll visit again.

On a day off, if you're going to drink with a friend from noon, Ueno Okachimachi is the place to go. Without making any reservations, we decided to choose a restaurant on the spot and ended up at Marumiya Tei for the 2nd or 3rd round. I had heard about this place opening and as a fan of pork, I felt like I had to go at least once! Even though the seating was tight, the staff kindly let us sit down. We ordered the specialty pig's trotters and pork belly as our first order. They also have a grill where you can cook your own food, but today we felt like eating something lighter so we'll try that next time! Everyone can eat the pig's trotters at this restaurant! They hardly have any unique smell, and the melt-in-your-mouth texture is amazing! They don't have a wide selection of shochu, but the choices are good! I definitely want to go back again!

I visited this restaurant for the first time because I heard they serve pig's trotters. On this day, I ordered pig's trotters, beef intestines sashimi, and ginger soda. The pig's trotters had both the gelatinous part and the lean meat, which were both enjoyable. The beef intestines had a crunchy texture. Since it was my third stop of the day and I couldn't eat much, I would like to try other menu items next time.

The train stopped at Ueno, so I decided to check out a restaurant I had heard about that sells pig trotters and insect pork. I tried the insect pork with a sweet vinegar sauce, which was delicious. They were sold out of the pig trotters, so I tried the teppou instead. I grilled the hormone meat on a charcoal grill and enjoyed it slowly. As the restaurant started to fill up, I overheard the staff talking about the pig trotters making a comeback. I was confused because I thought they were sold out, but I guess I'll have to come back next time to try them.

I went to the long-established restaurant Marumiyatei, which originated in Kyoto. I was in the mood for something "stabbing" and when I passed by Marumiyatei, I went in without hesitation. The first thing I ordered was the Kyoto Higashi-Kujo specialty "pig feet" and "mushipig" written on the signboard. The drink was Sapporo Lager (large bottle)... this place is a hit! Everything is delicious and amazing. The specialty mushipig has tender and sweet meat and fat. The fat has a soft and delicious texture, whether dipped in chojang (vinegar miso) or eaten as is, it is delicious mushipig. The specialty pig feet are simmered, so they are tender and melting in your mouth as soon as you put them in. There is no smell, plenty of collagen, and a chewy texture... The soup also has an amazing taste. It is clear, flavorful, and lightly salty, making it the best soup that goes well with noodles or rice. The charcoal-grilled dishes were also delicious. I didn't expect to eat such delicious offal. Especially, the chire and tonchan are so addictive that the alcohol goes down easily. I am satisfied with being able to eat such delicious chire. The recommended "Marei Craft Gin" that my companion ordered was also delicious with a refreshing aroma when drunk straight at room temperature. I ordered it with soda, but all the drinks were so delicious that they become addictive. It is a drink that goes well with food. The finale of the pork soup is also addictive. I liked this restaurant. I will visit again.

Visited in July 2022. Ordered a large bottle of Super Dry beer for 3,080 yen, Mushi Pork for 540 yen, and Kikubura for 480 yen with miso sauce, totaling 1,670 yen. This place opened a few months ago and was recommended for serving pork from Kyoto. The interior had a long counter, and I was seated in the middle by a friendly staff member. I enjoyed the beer and the Mushi Pork, which was served with a delicious gelatinous skin. I also ordered the Kikubura with miso sauce, which was rich in fat and best paired with beer. The experience was good overall, but it might be more enjoyable to visit with a group to fully enjoy the grilling experience. The staff member even drew a picture of a pig on the bill, adding a nice touch to the visit.

"Marumiya-tei" is a restaurant famous for its horumon-yaki, founded in 1972 in Higashi-Kujo, Kyoto. They expanded to Ueno, Tokyo in December 2021. I visited with a friend on a weekday at 8 pm. The nostalgic atmosphere inside the restaurant is perfect for both solo drinkers and group gatherings. The menu offers a variety of dishes, including the famous pork feet, mushi pork, and pork horumon, as well as rare cuts like tongue and komagire. We ordered the following dishes:
- Pork feet (¥600)
- Mushi pork (¥540)
- Assorted raw offal - heart, senmai, kobukuro (¥880)
- Boiled snap peas with salt (¥390)
- Pork kimchi (¥690)
- Crunchy kimchi pickles (¥430)
- Pork udon (¥540)
We enjoyed all seven dishes, from beer snacks to the finishing pork udon. The "pork feet" dish, served since the restaurant's founding, was tender and flavorful, especially paired with the simple warm soup. The "mushi pork," also a long-standing menu item, was delicious with the special chojang sauce and salt and pepper. The attentive service from the staff makes me want to visit again in the future.

The person I met at the best standing bar in Ueno brought me to this shop. They have a wide variety of shochu. The collagen-rich pig trotter soup is their specialty menu item which seems like it would make your skin smooth. I recommend the platter of heart, intestines, and cow's throat. When you order grilled dishes, they bring out a shichirin. I tried pork belly with skin for the first time. Next time, I want to slowly try other items.

During this long weekend, I've been stuck in a loop of feeling sick and not being able to drink, then recovering and being able to drink again. But on this day, I finally felt better and went out to Ueno with a friend! We decided to try a place we couldn't get into during a previous outing at Maruchiba for a second round. It was a restaurant where you can grill pork over charcoal at the counter. Their specialty is a collagen-rich pig's foot stewed until it's jelly-like. I ordered it without hesitation! It's not like the typical pig's foot that looks like a keychain, so even I could eat it (I usually avoid it because it looks scary). My friend, who loves raw meat, ordered a platter of assorted raw meats. I could handle the cow's stomach, so I was happy. My friend was really pleased and said, "I could come here alone!"

Established in Kyoto for 50 years, this unique izakaya has finally opened a branch in Tokyo. They offer a specialty dish of pig's trotters and grilled pork, which has been a hit since the opening in Kyoto. Enjoy their delicious motsu-yaki grilled over a shichirin charcoal grill, paired with a selection of carefully chosen sake. Located just 5 minutes from Ueno Station.

Located about a 5-minute walk from JR Yamanote Line Okachimachi Station, Marumiya Tei Ueno branch is a popular yakiniku restaurant. The original store is in Kyoto and they have other branches as well. Founded in 1972, the restaurant is known for its signature dishes such as pig's feet and steamed pork. The pig's feet are tender and flavorful, almost falling off the bone. The steamed pork is also delicious. For those who enjoy sashimi, the sashimi platter is a must-try, featuring heart, intestine, and cow stomach. The presentation and seasoning are excellent. The main yakiniku dishes are also enjoyable, and with great value for money, I would love to visit again.

I found a new restaurant while walking from Ueno towards Okachimachi. The place had dishes like grilled pig's feet and offal skewers, so I decided to give it a try. The restaurant had a counter and tables in the back, with a long and narrow layout resembling an eel's sleeping area. I started with a bottle of beer and ordered a skewer platter and pickled celery with soy sauce vinegar. The skewer platter included heart, intestines, and tripe, seasoned with garlic soy sauce and sesame salt. The meat was fresh, tender, and had no unpleasant smell, offering a generous portion. It went well with the beer. Looking at the menu for the next drink, I noticed a unique selection of shochu. I ordered my favorite "Daiyame" from Miyazaki with soda. The owner recommended soda mix for shochu, which surprisingly matched my order. I also ordered the famous pig's feet cooked in soup, which turned out to be different from Okinawa's Tebichi. The collagen-rich, tender pig's feet were a delight to eat. I paired them with the unique flavor of Daiyame shochu and repeated the routine of enjoying the meal. It was a delicious evening filled with skewered offal, pig's feet, and Daiyame shochu!

I came to this restaurant in Ueno, which is said to be the origin of motsunabe and a famous place for pig's feet. The pig's feet are simmered until they are tender and the soup is full of flavor. The alcohol is also delicious, and the conversation with the staff was enjoyable. I have definitely become a repeat customer.

I visited a hormone restaurant in Kyoto for the first time. The two famous dishes at Marumiya Tei are "Pork Feet" and "Mushi Pork". The Pork Feet (600 yen) had a delicate and elegant broth with extremely tender pork feet. It was a beautiful dish that stood in contrast to the trendy "authentic Chinese" pork feet. The Mushi Pork (540 yen) seemed slightly overcooked, lacking in flavor. The special miso sauce was tasty, but it felt a bit underwhelming to be considered a specialty. However, it may be suitable for female customers or beginners seeking a healthier option. The hormone, grilled by oneself, was fresh and well-prepared. The Chire (spleen - 480 yen) and Teppo (rectum - 480 yen) were particularly good, while the "Skin-on Belly" (780 yen) was average. The Liver (480 yen) was not as impressive. The drink portions were small, and the prices were slightly higher compared to other places in Ameyoko area. The fruity shochu options were intriguing but might not be worth the price. The "Pork Soup" at the end was delicious and a must-try. The underrated "Boiled Pork Skin" and "Celery Pickled in Vinegar Soy Sauce" were also tasty. Overall, it's a delicious hormone restaurant in the Ameyoko area. It tends to get crowded early, so making a reservation is advisable if you want to ensure a spot. Despite the high number of couples, don't be discouraged from returning for more. Thank you for the meal.

This is a pork offal grill restaurant that opened in Ueno from Kyoto. The specialty is the "pig's feet" simmered in a thick broth until it is tender and the steamed pork. The pig's feet are so delicious that you've never tasted anything like it before. The clear broth is delicious. The udon noodles in this broth are also delicious. The pork sashimi is also exquisite. Although it is called sashimi, it is cooked at a low temperature, but the texture is almost like raw meat! The grilling style is tabletop charcoal grilling. It's like pork yakiniku. Depending on the miso flavor or salted green onion sauce, it's better to ask the staff for recommendations. Personally, I loved the miso-flavored pork belly with skin. I will definitely visit again when I'm nearby.

Sometimes, in the area from Ueno to Okachimachi, I walk without deciding on a specific restaurant and choose one based on intuition. Today, I entered a newly opened store that seemed interesting in Ameyoko. This place specializes in dishes like pig's feet, steamed pork, and grilled pork. I usually avoid pig's feet, but I decided to try it this time since it was their specialty. I ordered some pig's feet and hormone skewers along with a beer. The pig's feet were tender and flavorful, and all the dishes I tried were delicious. I wish they had salt option for the grilled dishes instead of just miso. Overall, the restaurant has potential to become popular if they expand their menu. I would like to visit again to try other dishes.

I heard that a long-established store from Kyoto has landed in Ueno Okachimachi and decided to give it a try. Their specialties are grilled pork intestines, pig's trotters, and table-grilled motsu-yaki. While there are many places in Ueno Okachimachi that serve skewered motsu-yaki, the table-grilled version is quite rare. The grilled pork intestines are served with Korean spicy vinegar miso, Cho-jang, which adds a nice kick. The texture of the skin-on intestines is also really satisfying. The pig's trotters are simmered in a clean salt-based soup until they become melt-in-your-mouth tender. You can tell that they put a lot of care into preparing the dishes. Another pleasant surprise was the sashimi platter. It included heart, cow stomach, and small intestines, and they were almost raw! The low-temperature cooking method really brought out the flavors. This is definitely a must-try. The dish that stood out the most for me was the grilled pork belly that was left over from the motsu-yaki. It was served with the skin on, and the combination of the texture and miso flavor made it a perfect accompaniment to drinks. It might even go well with rice. To finish off, I had a bowl of hormone udon in the salt-based soup from the pig's trotters, which was smooth and delicious. The prices were reasonable, and I left feeling very satisfied. I will definitely be coming back!

Today we visited Marumiya-tei in Ueno. After having plenty of beer, we took a break and started with a lemon sour. They had regular size and large size, so I ordered the large size but received the regular size. It was the opening day so it was understandable. When I mentioned that I ordered the large size, they brought me another regular size. For food, we started with sashimi including senmai (beef intestine), kobukuro (gizzard), and hatsu (heart). They were all very delicious. After the sours, I had shochu called "Thepink" from the brewery served on the rocks. Thank you for the meal. I will visit again!

Touching points: ・The draft beer was served with perfect foam ・There was a rare Japanese sake available ・The speed of serving food and drinks was great. I didn't get a chance to take a photo, but the grilled meat was delicious.
