"Mon Chou Chou" is famous for its "Dojima Roll". I think it's a place where most people receive it as a gift rather than buying it themselves. The "Strawberry Roll Half" (1,188 yen) is as described: "We've hidden strawberries and custard cream in the Dojima Roll. Enjoy the meeting of sweet and sour strawberries with fluffy cream." The cream in the Dojima Roll is elegant, despite the appearance of a light amount of cream compared to the roll cake. The roll cake itself is also light. The limited-time strawberry version brings out the lively acidity of the strawberries within the Dojima Roll. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal. It feels like a structural revolution in the world of roll cakes, where the cream is overwhelmingly more than the dough. It seems like it's becoming a common practice now. I felt like eating some cake, so I wandered around the Depachika at Tobu Ikebukuro. I found a delicious Dohjima roll with various fruits on top, a soft and fluffy sponge cake with a double cream of fresh cream and custard cream. It was so tasty. Thank you for the meal.

The Christmas cake for 2022 was a roll cake with Santa on top, fulfilling the baby's request. Santa was made of crunchy sugar instead of marzipan, and the cake was moist with a stable and creamy texture. The sponge was soft and fluffy, with fruits inside making it easy to eat. I was torn between getting a sliced or whole roll cake, but the limited edition chestnut flavor looked delicious, so I chose the sliced one. ★Dohjima Slice 330 yen ★Chestnut Roll Slice 417 yen The chestnut paste mixed into the dough is filled with two types of cream and chestnuts, and it's quite sweet. Highly recommended for chestnut lovers. Monsieur's packaging, both the box and paper bag, are orange-colored and have a luxurious feel, perfect for souvenirs.

Last month's review: Finally got my hands on the last Maron roll cake. When I went in the evening, all that was left was the Doutonbori roll. Ate it about two hours later. Overall, it lacked a bit of fluffiness. The cream was light with a hint of chestnut flavor, but mostly just regular cream. The candied chestnuts were cut into two pieces, with a refreshing sweetness but lacked depth in flavor. The chestnut skin was a bit weak in taste. The sponge was a bit dry, and both the cream and sponge didn't feel very fresh. I think the timing of purchase matters. If I had bought it later in the evening, it might have been fresher. I prefer more chestnut cream. The amount you get is a good deal, and the variety available each season is appealing. Whenever I pass by, I can't help but look at the showcase. Thank you for the meal.

When it comes to Mon Cheri, it's all about the Dojima Roll. Do you remember when it was a huge hit? I used to line up to buy it back then. I haven't had it in a while, but I happened to see it at Tobu Department Store, so I decided to stop by. I knew they had a variety of flavors, but I didn't realize they now offer sliced versions and parfaits. They even have small-sized cakes shaped like rolls. The full-size Dojima Roll was a bit too much for me, so I'm glad they offer slices and half sizes now. The parfaits come with a mini Dojima Roll on top. The one I tried was a simple version with just cream. Unfortunately, the cream was not great - it was too stiff and tasted like over-whipped cream. It was hard to finish because it was the same flavor throughout. Maybe they could add some custard or sauce to mix it up. I ended up adding frozen blueberries and lemon paste from home to finish it. It turns out there is a place called Ogiku Atelier that uses a lot of Dojima Roll, so they must have a lot of leftover ends. It's good for reducing food waste, but I wish they could improve the flavor a bit more.

Ikebukuro Tobu Department Store basement first floor, it's been a long time since I had a Doshima roll as a souvenir, and the fruit-filled Doshima roll I received was delicious with fresh cream and sponge. Later, I purchased and tried the Doshima roll and chocolate Princess roll. The fruit roll had fresh cream, good sweetness, and a nice tangy accent from the fruit. The sponge had a good balance of sweetness. The chocolate in the Princess roll was soft and slightly blurred, while the cream in the Doshima roll from the previous visit was fresher and more delicious. The sponge had a strong sweetness that balanced well with the abundant, fluffy cream. Desserts like these are best when fresh. It was a delicious Doshima roll after a long time, with the strong sponge balancing the large amount of fluffy cream, making it enjoyable without getting tired of it. Unfortunately, I missed out on the Ehomaki roll for Setsubun. Thank you for the meal.

I really want to have a whole cake for Christmas! However, cakes these days are quite expensive. If you want something a bit nice, it can easily be over 5000 yen. I don't want to spend that much on a cake for two people. That's when I found this cake. From the famous Dojima Roll cake shop, Mon Cheri. It used to be a very popular shop with long lines, but now you can easily buy it. Among their Christmas cakes, the one that caught my eye was Noel Noir. It reminds me of the famous German cake, Black Forest Cake, with chocolate and cherries. This one is made for general consumption, so it doesn't contain alcohol. The price is reasonable at 3456 yen. I bought it on the 23rd, the day before Christmas, as it gets crowded and troublesome on Christmas day. It's best consumed by the 24th. I think it's about the size for 4 people, but my partner and I shared half of it. The rich chocolate flavor might make you eat too much. The sponge is moist, maybe because it's been sitting for a while. The milk mousse and sour cherry combination inside is really to my liking. The decorations on the cake are worth mentioning. The gold reindeer and snowflakes are well-made and cute. They would look nice as ornaments on a homemade Christmas wreath. I'll keep them for next year too.

I heard that the Ikebukuro store has been renovated, so I visited. Indeed, I felt that the number of items displayed in the showcase had increased! Whenever I see them, the products from Dohjima-san sparkle and make me excited (*´v`). I bought the Kanto limited edition cream croissant and pudding. The pudding has three layers with airy cream on top. It is delicious with a mild sweetness, but personally, I prefer the Hakata store's limited edition pudding, which has a stronger egg flavor and is more custardy..* As for the croissant, the rich milk cream that conveys the milk flavor is impressive. The dough is gentle and the balance with the cream is good. Both are Kanto limited edition products, so if you have the opportunity, please try them.

The horse I was cheering for at Nakayama Racecourse ran quite well, so I was in a good mood and decided to buy some souvenirs. I looked around Seibu and Tobu, checking out shops that seemed suitable for gifts and searching for today's souvenir. I found a couple of shops that had items that could be used as souvenirs, but I couldn't find today's souvenir easily. Suddenly, I noticed a roll cake in the showcase that looked familiar. I didn't notice the name of the shop, but the roll cake in the showcase seemed like the popular Dohjima Roll cake from some time ago. Maybe the trend has passed now? I bought it without waiting in line and brought it home to share with everyone. The simple sponge and cream roll cake was as delicious as ever. It was just right for a small souvenir.

I really like Mon Cheri's Dojima Roll because the cream is not too sweet and the sponge is light. Among them, the Dojima Fruit Roll, which has a lot of fruit in it, is my favorite at Mon Cheri. (The fruit roll seems to be limited to some stores) I also like KIHACHI's Trifle Roll, but Mon Cheri's Dojima Fruit Roll is overall very light and not too heavy, making it easy to eat quickly. I bought a half size instead of a single slice this day, so it's nice to be able to cut it thinly and eat it little by little. By the way, Mon Cheri not only has their signature roll cakes, but also delicious financiers in the shape of beautiful roses. Moreover, if you get a set, the box is also very cute with a pink rose pattern, making it a great gift. In addition, the staff at this store in Tobu Department Store in Ikebukuro are very friendly, so you can buy with a good feeling and I highly recommend it.

Our family's favorite is the Mont St. Clair from Daimaru, with its delicious cream. Among all the Christmas cakes, this one had the best size and cost performance. The cream, white chocolate, and strawberries are abundant. The cake has two layers of cream and strawberries, but it's not heavy. The strawberries are juicy and the cream melts smoothly. Even the baby enjoyed scraping off the cream. I never thought about getting a whole cake for Christmas, but it seems to be the trend now. I am grateful to my generous grandfather. After starting the day with an early meal, I was still in the mood for something sweet, so I went to Tobu to look for something new. Unfortunately, it was already late and I couldn't find what I was looking for. However, I stumbled upon a shop that I don't usually notice, and there it was - Shine Muscat roll! The dough had cute Muscat-colored dots on it, which was quite charming. When I cut into it, as I had expected, there were very few Muscat pieces! So, I added some extra Muscat to enjoy it fully. I used to eat this a lot when it was popular, and trying it again after a long time reminded me of how delicious it is. It would be even better if there were twice as many Muscat pieces in it.

I bought a "Doshima Roll" as a souvenir for my family at Tobu Ikebukuro store. When I brought it home, my wife said, "You've had this before, right?" Back then, I had the type with cream and fruit, but I have a slight fruit allergy (can't eat strawberries), so I picked out the strawberries with a fork while eating, and didn't pay much attention to the cream's taste. Today, it was a roll cake with only cream. The richness of the cream is incredible, like it's made from extra rich milk. It's sweet, but the deliciousness of the milk fat content takes precedence. So the sweetness isn't a big concern. The sponge cake is also soft and has a good texture. It was delicious.
