It's been a while since I felt regret... or rather, I deeply regret my low antenna sensitivity! Our office moved to Gotanda about 10 months ago. I had been feeling out of place in the unfamiliar area below the Yamanote Line and neglected to search for good restaurants. Now, with the office moving again at the end of this month, I suddenly discovered this great restaurant. If only I had known about this place earlier, I could have avoided the days of frustration and weariness while rushing home on the Yamanote Line with a growling stomach, irritated by the drunken salarymen standing in front of me...! Feeling this regret, I visited Lily. A few days ago, I had an unexpected dinner with a former client who used to be my contact person, a woman. She requested a restaurant where she could enjoy good wine or sake, so I searched for a place in Gotanda and found a couple of interesting options. We decided to go to this place. We made a reservation for Friday at 8:00 PM, the busiest time, but since we could sit at the counter, we were actually delighted! We immediately said yes. The restaurant mainly serves charcoal-grilled skewers, but the menu is wide-ranging, and I had a hard time choosing. However, in situations like this, counter seats are a great deal. I asked the guy in front of me for recommendations, and we ordered: - Beef sushi - Assorted skewers (5 pieces) - White liver tekk - Grilled beef liver sushi was served with a slightly sweet and spicy sauce, and it melted in my mouth! The skewers included 3 vegetable skewers (tomato and mozzarella, asparagus wrapped in bacon, tomato and bacon?), and the remaining 2 were chicken and harami skewers, which were juicy and tender! The mozzarella with tomato was perfectly balanced and delicious. The liver tekk had a generous amount of chopped onions and a slightly pink rareness that even I, who is not a fan of liver, couldn't resist. As for drinks, the lady started with beer, and I had plum wine with soda. Wine was the next logical step, and we enjoyed a glass of red wine. I can't remember the brand, probably from Spain? The wine had a good mouthfeel and a slightly meaty volume. Feeling pleased, we decided to order more: - Pacific saury skewer - Mentaiko skewer - Potato skewer? - Corn fritters The Pacific saury skewer was wrapped in maitake mushrooms, and it had a delicious smoky flavor without being greasy. The mentaiko skewer had a perfect level of doneness! I think the other skewer was potato, and it came with chanja, which I don't like (kimchi, salted fish), so I quickly ate it without those toppings. The corn was incredibly sweet and left a lasting impression. The owner, Mr. Yagasaki, was friendly and approachable. By this time, we had switched to a bottle of red wine... I remembered this one: "Atura Rouge" Bio. It's intense, slightly spicy, and delicious. We were still curious about some dishes, so we added: - Eggplant gratin - Beef shank stew All of them were above average. Honestly, there were no disappointments. I wanted to try the chestnut cream cheese tofu, but I forgot to order it. I actually ordered without worrying about the price due to some circumstances, but even so, it was around the cost of a $10 bill, which is quite reasonable, isn't it? There are counter seats, so you can come alone, focus on skewers, and finish with some rice dishes, or conversely, come with a few people and try non-skewer dishes... There seems to be a wide range of scenes and tastes to enjoy, so while I'm still in Gotanda, I would love to visit this place again.
