After finishing work, the drinking enthusiast went to Gotanda. Today, they went to "Teppan Bar SOURCE Gotanda" with their drinking buddies! They had previously been to the store in Tenma, Osaka, so they were excited to visit the newly opened one in Gotanda. They started with a Kiwi sour made with fresh fruit. The sour was bursting with fruitiness. For food, they enjoyed salted nori, snap peas with soy sauce and koji mayo, marinated daikon with fried chicken, grilled squid, and pork balls. They also had lemon sour, Havana sour, and umeboshi sour to drink, and had a great time getting pleasantly drunk.

A restaurant specializing in okonomiyaki with its main store in Osaka. They also have branches in Naka-Meguro and Ebisu, open until 4 am. Located next to the yakiniku restaurant "Guu" in Shinagawa, I visited during the Shinagawa PayPay campaign. While the pork okonomiyaki is cheap at 580 yen, the beer is a bit pricey at 550 yen for a tall glass. As an Osaka native, I prefer to enjoy my okonomiyaki with a big jug of beer! Personally, I like it served on a hot iron plate. Some staff members were not wearing masks or had chin masks. I wish everyone except the chefs wore masks properly.
I ordered a few dishes, focusing on the flour-based items. The dishes are cooked by the staff and then brought to the table on a round iron plate.
- Squid Okonomiyaki (480 yen): A unique dish with a thick batter made with wheat flour (American flour) mixed with chopped squid and pressed before grilling. It's different from the Tokyo-style squid okonomiyaki, so it's a must-try for those from Tokyo. It's thicker and has more egg than the squid okonomiyaki sold at festivals or shopping streets in Osaka. The unique addition of sauce and mayonnaise in the middle was delicious.
- Pork Modern Okonomiyaki (580 yen + soba): This dish is about 2/3 the size of a regular okonomiyaki. The yakisoba used in the modern version is a common store-bought one. The noodles mixed with sauce were a bit unevenly cut and lacked integration with the okonomiyaki. The batter base made with American flour was fluffy, but there was too much pickled ginger, which was a downside. The sauce was less sweet, giving it a Tokyo-like flavor profile that seems to pair well with alcohol.
In summary, the alcohol prices are reasonable for late-night dining, but a bit high for an okonomiyaki restaurant. The dishes overall lacked sweetness and were suitable for pairing with alcohol. The key ingredient of flour-based dishes, the sauce, needs some improvement, but the fluffy texture of the batter is good. Next time, I would avoid ordering soba dishes and go easy on the alcohol. It seems they also offer self-service all-you-can-drink for groups of four or more, but for a quick okonomiyaki meal for one or two people, it can be a dilemma. Perhaps I'll try "Kiji" in Shinagawa next time. There's also "Imari" nearby, which offers Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki, so it's a different experience from Osaka-style okonomiyaki.

They also mentioned that there are seats on the second floor for the all-you-can-drink course. The staff is friendly and responds pleasantly when spoken to. I ordered the squid topping for the okonomiyaki, which is a delightful appetizer for those from Osaka. My companion tried it for the first time and found it delicious. We ordered a few dishes and the beef tendon okonomiyaki. It was topped with plenty of green onions, mayonnaise, and then slightly grilled with a burner. It satisfied even the Osaka natives. The restaurant is open late and easy to enter even if you're alone. I will definitely be a repeat customer.

On Wednesday night, I felt like going to a bar, so I visited the newly opened "Teppan Bar SOURCE Gotanda" for a drink. The atmosphere inside was nice. I started with a beer for a toast, which is always great on a Wednesday night. We ordered a variety of snacks to go with the beer. The "Real Shrimp Chips" made from pressed shrimp were amazing! They went perfectly with the sour drinks. Even if you end up drinking too much, having a Yomeishu sour can balance things out haha. We finished off with some fried food! Everything was delicious. Next time, I would like to focus more on Yomeishu drinks.

Next to Guu, a teppanyaki bar appeared out of nowhere. I heard they are open until 4:00 in the morning, so I decided to check it out. The official opening is on July 19th, so it's only been about 10 days. I thought it might be a high-end teppanyaki restaurant, but it turned out to be a casual okonomiyaki place. They want people to enjoy Osaka's soul food in a more casual way. The interior is stylish like a bar, not like a typical okonomiyaki place. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is comfortable. I ordered the basic Buta-Tama okonomiyaki. They told me it would take about 15-20 minutes, so they asked if I wanted to order anything else. I asked about the squid yakis and they said it's quick because they make it with a press machine. I also ordered the "Manma Sour" with pineapple. It's basically juice, very refreshing and delicious. The squid yakis came in 2-3 minutes and it was surprisingly tasty! Despite being made with a press machine, it was fluffy. The okonomiyaki was served on a personal teppan grill, carefully cooked and fluffy. The sauce was a bit on the thicker side. The okonomiyaki was tasty, but it was overshadowed by the amazing squid yakis. The total cost was ¥1840, which is cheap. It's delicious and has great value for money. They are open until 4:00 in the morning, so having okonomiyaki as a late-night meal sounds like a good idea.

The restaurant opened in July 2022 and it is quite beautiful. It is a normal place with good food, but the highball is especially delicious. It is just a regular highball, but the strength of the carbonation, the coldness, and I can't quite explain it, but it is delicious.
