The deli section at the supermarket is a lifesaver when you want to have a solo home drinking session. In Sengawa, there are supermarkets like Seiyu, Keio Store, Queens Isetan, and Aoba Shokuhinkan. A little further away to the north, there's Inageya, and to the south, there's Yaoyoko. In the past, Keio Store used to be where Queens Isetan is now, and Marusho Shokuhin was where Seiyu is. Keio Store once withdrew but returned in 1998, and in 2020, it was renovated with longer operating hours from 7:00 to 25:00. Their special dishes like "Liver and Garlic Chives Stir-Fried Rice" (430 yen) and "Macaroni Salad" (124 yen) are made in-house and have good value for money with generous portions and a strong flavor that goes well with alcohol. Keio Store, as the name suggests, is a subsidiary of Keio Electric Railway and opened its first store in Kokubunji in 1963. However, they struggled with management and accumulated losses until 1980 when they managed to turn things around through real estate restructuring, adjusting tenant fees, reducing interest rates, and separating their food and beverage business. The Sengawa store faces tough competition from nearby rivals like Life and Marusho, but they have been implementing survival strategies such as expanding operating hours, relocating and expanding the deli section, and offering a variety of convenient and user-friendly products like seasoned meats, cut vegetables, and frozen meal kits, as well as small-sized products that can be used up or consumed easily.

The supermarket Kyoto Store is not directly connected to the station, but it is located inside the Sengawa Station building. To compete with the nearby 24-hour supermarket Seiyu, they started opening at 7 am to target customers heading to work. I tried their Inari Sushi (5 pieces for 268 yen including tax). Compared to Seiyu's, the topping is a bit less generous and has a more refined taste. The rice also has a slight flavor to it, and it's not too mushy. Overall, it's a satisfying taste.
