I really like dishes other than sushi. The giant oysters were creamy and delicious, and I also love bakudan. It's fun to order a variety of dishes like at an izakaya, and it's enjoyable to go with kids. They have kids' sets, but you can also order individual items. I haven't eaten at the counter yet, but it's great for a leisurely family meal. When you ring the bell, a young waiter comes to take your order, which the kids love. The sake was also a good choice. I will definitely come back!

Located a little further towards Shirayama from the A5 exit of Kasuga Station, this sushi restaurant faces Shirayama Street but is on the 2nd floor with an entrance in a narrow alley, making it a bit hard to find. I was drawn in by the weekday lunch sign outside before noon. The interior has a high-class feel with counter seats and 3 private rooms. Smoking is allowed after 9 pm, and there is a slight lingering smell of smoke. Around noon, the place was bustling with nearby office ladies. I ordered the "Hokkai Donburi (¥980)" which is limited to 10 servings. They aim to provide the No.1 sushi lunch in the area with luxurious toppings. The regular seafood bowls also come with anago topping, giving a reasonable impression for under ¥1000. It arrived in about 1 minute, as they just need to top the rice with the ingredients. It comes with miso soup with rock seaweed, and a salad with tofu and seaweed. The "Hokkai" topping includes sea urchin, salmon roe, salmon, sea bream, and more. The sea urchin had a rich flavor with almost no fishy taste. The salmon roe burst with a soy sauce flavor. The sashimi slices were thick, fresh, and without any fishy taste, showing the quality of the restaurant. The sushi rice was firm with a slight sweetness. The salad had 3 types of dressing available on the table, a nice touch. Although I had the limited dish this time, I would like to revisit as the regular menu also offers great value. The Hokkai Donburi was truly a great deal, living up to its No.1 reputation in the area.

2013.4.18 Seasonal and day-limited fresh shirasu bowl. Served with homemade special soy sauce with egg yolk. The freshness, portion size, and balance with the rice are all perfect. Completely worth the 1,000 yen price. 2011.12.05 Today's lunch was the limited edition Hokkai Don. Uni, salmon, ikura, and sweet shrimp were expected, but hidden beneath the rice, there was a generous amount of crab meat and thinly sliced squid covering about 30% of the surface area. The miso soup was also delicious. The quality and freshness of the ingredients can be judged from the photos, but the American uni had a strong mineral flavor which was a bit disappointing. However, the portion size was impressive, perhaps five times more than at another restaurant, and it was quite tasty so no complaints. Plus, the price of 1,000 yen with change back was a great deal (I remember the other restaurant charging 1,260 yen). The ankimo being prepared in front of us was shaped with plastic wrap, steamed with sake, and would be served as an evening snack. While many places serve cold dishes with ponzu sauce, here they lightly torch it before serving, as explained by the head chef. I'd love to come back for dinner. Overall, it was a lunch that made me want to return in the evening. 2011's lunchtime. As the temperature dropped a bit, I decided to warm up my stomach and heart at Bon Plaisir in the Chuginko Koiwa Mansion, but on the way past Taisuke, a sign caught my eye. Sushi Ichimon, which I had been curious about, had started serving lunch, so I couldn't pass up the opportunity to visit. I changed my plans and visited the restaurant. While studying the menu, I ordered a sample of the lunch nigiri. It seemed similar to Kasugano at first, but oh my. What's this, the last piece? Two rolls of chutoro lined up, topped with plenty of thinly sliced squid, then piled high with uni and ikura. How do you even eat this??? I was told to just eat it with soy sauce, so I drizzled soy sauce over it using pickled ginger as a brush, and enjoyed each piece of the nori roll in two bites, but it was luxurious. Just this one piece of sushi was enough to satisfy me completely, the impact was enough to make all memories of other toppings disappear. Tremendous value for money. This is truly the epitome of extravagance.

I went with a friend to this restaurant. It's located on the second floor and a bit challenging to find, but once inside, the atmosphere is really nice. There are private rooms near the entrance and a counter in the front. Since my friend recommended this place, I let them order for us. They seemed familiar with the menu and ordered a course meal and chef's choice nigiri. I was a bit worried about the price because of the portion size, but it turned out to be more affordable than expected. The chef was friendly, although we didn't get a chance to talk much since we were in a private room. Overall, it was satisfying and reasonably priced. I highly recommend this restaurant.

As it is in the neighborhood, I have been curious about this place for a while, and finally visited with my wife on my birthday. The appetizers and sushi are skillfully made, giving off a true Edo-style sushi restaurant vibe. There are no glass cases at the counter, and the fish is stored in wooden boxes, which I appreciate. The head chef is very friendly, and considering the prices in this area, the cost performance is definitely good. The food was so delicious that we ordered quickly, but we were gently reminded that "we are not a conveyor belt sushi restaurant..." Nevertheless, I think there are not many customers who come out of their way to visit, but I highly recommend it.
