Today I had lunch at a tonkatsu restaurant called "Teishoku Katsukokuya" in Takashimadaira. The nearest station is Shintakashimadaira Station on the Toei Mita Line, about a 10-minute walk away. The restaurant is located along the street under the elevated section of the Metropolitan Expressway Route 5 Ikebukuro Line, and I had been curious about it because of the tonkatsu sign. I parked my car in the dedicated parking lot and entered the restaurant. The menu displayed outside included options like pork cutlet set meal, pork fillet cutlet set meal, katsudon, and pork cutlet curry, all priced under 1,000 yen. Inside the restaurant, it had a fast-food chain-like atmosphere, somewhat similar to "Katsuya." I sat at the counter seat, and the ordering system was through a touch panel, which I'm not very good at. After ordering, the food was served in about 10 minutes. The seafood fry set meal came with oyster fry, squid fry, white fish fry, horse mackerel fry, cold tofu, miso soup, and rice, offering a generous portion. They also served pickled vegetables in a container, but I don't eat pickles much so I skipped it. The freshly fried seafood fry included 2 oyster fries, 2 squid fries, white fish fry, horse mackerel fry, shredded cabbage, tartar sauce, and lemon, with oil paper placed between the fry and cabbage. Eating all those fried items made me quite full. Having the cold tofu as a side was a nice touch to balance out the meal.
