At the station building of Takahata Fudou Station, there is a restaurant located on the street that extends from the Keio Line ticket gate to the monorail. It was quite spacious inside, but even though I went there after 1:30 PM, it was crowded. As expected of Ootoya. I quickly placed my order. Today, I ordered the Ootoya lunch set (tax included 870 yen), which included chicken tatsuta-age, a sweet and fluffy pumpkin croquette, simmered egg, miso soup, dried daikon radish, and fresh vegetables. "Kimidama" is a dish where egg yolks are marinated in soy sauce. The five-grain rice is composed of black rice, black sesame, white sesame, corn, and barley, and I chose the five-grain rice. It was served after about 10 minutes. The Ootoya lunch set had juicy pumpkin croquettes and well-fried tatsuta-age. The pumpkin croquette, in particular, was highly praised for its fluffy texture and sweetness. The dried daikon radish was of good quality, not losing to the main dishes. I tried the kimidama first without pouring it over the rice, then later poured it over the five-grain rice for a change in taste. I always leave feeling full and satisfied. Thank you for the meal.

Once a popular chain, Ootoya gained popularity for being a healthy dining option where even women dining alone felt comfortable. However, due to internal issues, the growth of the company stagnated, and it was eventually acquired by Colowide. I hadn't visited in a while, but decided to go back recently. It was a weeknight and the restaurant was filled with families and solo diners. The menu was extensive, with pictures like a family restaurant. I ordered the pork ginger stir-fry for 1180 yen and a small draft beer for 240 yen. You could choose between white rice and mixed grain rice. I opted for the mixed grain rice. The pork ginger stir-fry was served with plenty of cabbage, a generous amount of sauce, and even mayonnaise on the side, which seemed contradictory to its health-conscious image. However, the dish itself had a perfect balance of ginger and soy sauce, making it a satisfying meal with rice and beer. Overall, it was a well-balanced and textbook example of a set meal. It felt a bit pricey, but Ootoya might be worth visiting occasionally. Thank you for the meal.

Today is the last day of the validity period for my points. I still have a little bit left, so why not use them! It was just before 5 p.m. on a Sunday when I visited this restaurant for a casual drink. Of course, I made a reservation through Hot Pepper, and it was my first time visiting this location. The draft beer was Asahi Super Dry for 500 yen (tax included) and it was delicious with a strong carbonation. The original beer mug from Ootoya was also really cool. The bonito and plum sandwiched and fried dish was 353 kcal and 790 yen. The dish had a lot of cabbage, which was nice, and the plum flavor was strong, maybe a bit too strong. However, when I tried it with the ponzu sauce, it was amazing! The combination of plum, bonito, and ponzu sauce was perfect. The sesame-dressed spinach was 48 kcal and 100 yen, and it had a gentle sesame flavor that was comforting. The mini fried chicken was 240 kcal and 150 yen, and it was crispy with juicy chicken meat inside. There was also a curry-flavored powder to sprinkle on top, which added a nice touch. I also ordered a cold sake called "Shunnouten" for 650 yen, which was a dry and refreshing sake. I then ordered a white wine called Mercian Every for 500 yen. The restaurant was about half full when I arrived, but as it approached 6 p.m., many families with children, including infants, started coming in. The staff, including a kind motherly figure and other young male and female employees, provided polite and friendly service. They were attentive and handled the situation well, even when dealing with a lively elderly man nearby. Overall, it was a great experience using my points at this restaurant. The prices are reasonable, the food is consistently good, and the service is excellent. I would definitely consider coming back to this place if it was nearby. Thank you for the meal!

I had the Una-don (eel rice bowl) with less rice at Ootoya. It had 817kcal and cost 2480 yen. Ootoya is a chain restaurant located in Tokyo, Hino City, at the third floor of Takahata Shopping Center along the east-west corridor connecting Keio Line Takahata Fudo Station and Tama Monorail Takahata Fudo Station. Ootoya originated in Ikebukuro, Tokyo in 1958 and has expanded nationwide (except for some regions). There are over 100 stores in Tokyo alone. They have also ventured overseas, including in the United States where I live, although most stores are concentrated on the East Coast. The restaurant has around 50 seats, mainly tables with some counter seats. Each table has a tablet for ordering, but customers who are not familiar with it can still order from the staff. I ordered the Una-don, which is not only available in summer but also irregularly throughout the year. The price has increased by about 500 yen compared to January 2018. It comes with sansho pepper from Yagenbori. They use eel raised in Taiwan with good quality underground water. Ootoya prides itself on in-house cooking, but it seems they did not prepare the eel themselves. There was no charcoal aroma, and the lack of grill marks suggested it was not cooked over charcoal. The steaming was weak and unnecessarily oily, and the plumpness of the eel indicated it might be from a retort pouch.

Highly accessible Ootoya at Takahata Fudo. I didn't feel like walking in the heat to a family restaurant like Gusto. If you go around 5 pm on a weekday, it's still not too crowded. I was able to choose my favorite seat, a two-person table at the end. This time, they only brought me water, probably because of the heat, so I ordered tea when I placed my order. After debating between chicken dishes, I finally decided on the fried horse mackerel set meal that I had been curious about. The restaurant wasn't too busy, so the staff seemed a bit overwhelmed. Still, my food came relatively quickly. The cabbage came with dressing, and there were tomatoes and broccoli on the side. I ate the tomatoes and broccoli with tartar sauce. I squeezed lemon over the fried horse mackerel and found it to be light and delicious. It was tastier than I expected! I kept eating. The tartar sauce was average. I chose shiso and hijiki rice. I was hoping for a plum-flavored dish due to the heat, but they didn't have it. I hope they develop one soon. Since I could relax and sit comfortably this time, my mood was completely different! I feel unsettled when sitting alone, so I might avoid coming when it's busy. Nevertheless, the healthy options at Ootoya are a lifesaver!

There is a Ootoya restaurant located on the way when transferring from Takahatafudo Station on the Keio Line to Takahatafudo Station on the Tama Monorail. I have been there many times, but finally writing about it now (^_^;) There is a toilet inside the restaurant which is convenient. During lunch and dinner time when it is crowded, if you go alone, you will almost always be seated at the counter. Usually it's not a problem, but today I happened to sit next to a restless old man, and it was tiring (^_^;) Today, I ordered the steamed plenty of vegetables with barley miso soup set meal. It has more items compared to other menu items but is cheaper. I feel like it's their recommended menu. I think I saw it on TV before. It was quite busy today, so I had to wait quite a bit until the set meal arrived. However, they brought both water and hot tea, which was helpful. Now, the steamed dish. I dipped it in the walnut sauce. The sauce had a very strong flavor. There were two pieces of meat and they had a good texture and tasted delicious. There was a lot of cabbage. The barley miso soup was quite salty! I think it would be delicious if they could reduce the saltiness a bit. The taste of the egg tofu was good. The seaweed-like topping had ginger in it, but the flavor was weak, and I wasn't sure how to eat it. I poured it over the rice. Maybe it was just right with the soy sauce added. The zenzai dessert, which seemed like a small portion, turned out to be sufficient. The difference in taste between strong and weak flavors was quite noticeable, but it was healthy overall. It cost 885 yen including tax. I made a point card with expectations for the future. Convenience ★★★★★, Service ★★★, Toilet ★★★★, Variety of menu ★★★★, Customer base ★★

I visited this restaurant with my family after going to the shrine for New Year's. It was my first time at Ootoya, and I ordered the "Chicken Miso Katsu Stew Set". It was very delicious. The miso flavor and sweetness blended well, with the sweetness being more dominant. What surprised me the most was how tender the chicken was. Despite being a miso stew, the chicken was tender and the coating remained crispy. When you pour the miso over the rice, it tastes even better. Breaking the half-cooked egg over the miso katsu makes the flavor milder, and the watercress was crunchy and delicious. The pickles and miso soup on the side were also seasoned just right.

After the university entrance ceremony, my mom and I went to Ootoya ♩ It's located on the side of Takahata Fudo Station, near the monorail. We were feeling a bit peckish, so we ordered some dessert. I'm currently obsessed with matcha sweets and trying out different flavors wherever I go! Our order was: "Uji Matcha Pudding and Ice Cream Parfait" for ¥486 and "Uji Matcha Warabi Mochi" for ¥388. The portion sizes were small but enough to satisfy our cravings. The taste was delightful, with the perfect harmony between vanilla ice cream and matcha flavor! However, the recent tax increase is tough to handle ( ̄▽ ̄//)...

The other day, my father and I visited the hydrangea festival at Takahata Fudoson and stopped by on our way back. We thought about trying the soba noodles at Takahata Soba on the approach, but we also wanted to do some shopping at the shopping center, so we decided to go to Ootoya inside the shopping center. It was just past lunchtime, but we were able to sit down without waiting as there were still some empty table seats. However, it quickly got crowded and soon became full. We were lucky. There was a large table in the center of the restaurant, making it easy for even solo diners to use. Perhaps due to its location near Takahata Fudoson, there were many elderly customers, and it seemed that the Japanese cuisine restaurant was quite popular. I ordered the "Handmade Menchi Katsu with Japanese-style Demi-glace Sauce Set Meal". You can choose between white rice and five-grain rice, and I chose the five-grain rice. I was very hungry, so I ordered the large portion (laughs). By the way, ordering a large portion does not cost extra. The menchi katsu was juicy and the cabbage was soft. The sauce was a bit too much, making the taste a bit strong, but it made the rice go down easily (bitter smile). When you order the large portion of rice, it comes in a bowl like a donburi, really a "large portion". I was completely full! The familiar menu, the familiar taste, somehow gave me a sense of comfort... It's good when you're undecided about where to eat and hungry. If you ask, they also serve warm tea as a service. However, it's a shame that they are not affiliated with the shopping center's parking lot.

There is a chain restaurant located in a restaurant street in a passageway connecting Keio Takahata Fudo Station to Tama Monorail Takahata Fudo Station. The restaurant has a layout with two large tables for sharing in the middle, surrounded by small tables for two people. It tends to be crowded during lunchtime, surprisingly with a lot of female customers. When groups come in, there is a bustling atmosphere as they move from the shared tables to the surrounding seats. This can be a bit off-putting. For lunch, I decided to try the grilled fish after a long time. I ordered the soy sauce koji-grilled salmon set for 800 yen with extra white rice. The meal was served relatively quickly compared to other places. The side dish of simmered hijiki and wakame added a healthy touch to the meal. I find the taste at this chain restaurant quite decent. The salmon was well-cooked and delicious. Payment was convenient as they accept Gourmet cards and offer Ponta points, which is a nice service. However, I find it hard to get used to the atmosphere at any of their branches, and I get frustrated with the slow service. Overall, it's a disappointing chain restaurant.

We used the restaurant for lunch with two people. The menu is mainly focused on Japanese cuisine, which is healthy. I ordered the "Charcoal-grilled Alaskan wild red salmon set meal with green onion miso", "Boiled spinach", and "Kyoto Uji matcha mousse with additive-free milk ice cream and Tokachi red beans". I asked for a small portion of rice, and they served it in a proper tea cup size. Normally, the tea cup is bigger. In addition to the salmon, it came with grated daikon radish, hijiki seaweed, wakame seaweed, miso soup, rice, and pickles. The green onion miso went well with both the rice and the salmon. The restaurant was busy and it took a while for the dessert to come out, so I had to call the staff to remind them, which was a bit bothersome.

It's been a while since I visited this restaurant since it first opened. I ordered the oyster steamed rice and simmered dish set. I was prepared for the oysters to be a bit fishy due to the low price of the chain restaurant, but the steamed rice in the steamer had almost no flavor and was mushy and unpleasant, so I ended up leaving most of it uneaten. I couldn't believe how long it must have been steamed for as the rice grains had lost their shape completely. I should have just stuck with regular rice. I chose to eat at Ootoya in Keio Shopping Center so I could get free parking, but when I presented my parking ticket at the register, they said, "We do not offer parking ticket service at this store." Later, when I checked the parking service list, I found that the service conditions varied for each store within the shopping center, which was confusing. It felt like they were being unfriendly to customers, and I couldn't understand Keio's reasoning.

Just some random information, but I never went through a rebellious phase with my father. We still get along well ^^ I wonder if I have a father complex?! lol We met up at Takahata Fudoson and decided to grab a bite to eat before heading home. Since my father has already turned 60, I thought a healthy Japanese meal would be good, so we went to Ootoya. This was my second visit here. It was around 4pm, so it was empty with just one male customer and two female customers. My father ordered a set meal and some sake (I forgot the name). I had a tuna bowl. It might be a bit small for those who want a hearty meal, but you can get extra rice. It was a nice meal where I could have a good conversation with my father after a long time ^^
