Hello! I am the humble servant of gourmet cuisine, "The Solitary Gourmet ⭐︎". Today, I found myself on the east side of the Iidabashi area, which is a change from my usual west side haunts like Kagurazaka. I have always been impressed by the potential of Iidabashi station, especially since the development of luxury residences and the opening of the west exit. The area offers good security in the heart of the city, with excellent schools and even Kagurazaka nearby, making it suitable for single professionals, families, and even second homes. There is also the "Tokyo Daikanshin" shrine, which adds to the appeal.
After a long meeting that ended around 2 pm, I found myself with some free time and decided to visit a place I had heard about but never tried - "Hong Kong Zan Ji Tea Restaurant" in Iidabashi. While I usually enjoy a lunch set or Hong Kong-style milk tea here, today I opted for a San Miguel beer and two dishes. San Miguel is a popular beer from the Philippines, and it was a refreshing choice for me. As I sipped on my beer in the dimly lit restaurant, surrounded by the sounds of Cantonese chatter and clanging pots, my mind drifted back to memories of Hong Kong.
In Hong Kong, the diet varies depending on the social class, but the affluent tend to avoid sweet foods. They are active and health-conscious, often opting for light and healthy options. During my frequent trips to Hong Kong, I learned a lot about the local cuisine and lifestyle. For me, sweet treats in Hong Kong bring to mind mango pudding, afternoon tea at The Peninsula Hong Kong, and herbal turtle jelly. The locals enjoy warm and digestive-friendly foods and drinks, with a preference for Pu'er tea and red wine.
While the interior of this restaurant may not scream "Hong Kong", the Cantonese cuisine served here allows diners to experience a taste of Hong Kong in a casual setting. The decor may not transport you to Hong Kong, but the dishes offer a decent level of Cantonese cuisine. The experience of feeling Hong Kong in this restaurant may vary depending on your personal experiences in the city. Overall, it's a place where you can enjoy Cantonese cuisine without having to travel far.
