I entered the store around 11:45 on December 19, 2022. I had done some research beforehand and found that Gotoeat could be used at restaurants around Ootorii Station. Since Ootorii Station is generally in the vicinity of Watami, it seems that restaurants affiliated with Watami are eligible. The first place I noticed was "Izakaya Watami," so I headed there. The prices were quite reasonable, which was the reason for my choice. However, upon arrival, it seemed like they were under renovation and would be closed until the New Year. What a shame. Next, I aimed for "Yakiniku no Watami." I confirmed that they were open and took the elevator to the 3rd floor. A lively lady welcomed me and showed me to my seat. Throughout, she energetically greeted each customer coming in. I was very impressed. Despite having to get water myself, she offered to bring it to me. Her hospitality was quite remarkable. In particular, I was impressed by her consideration for elderly customers. I sat at the counter, which was divided into two seats each. The atmosphere was similar to a yakiniku restaurant. I received explanations from the lady about everything, including ordering through a touch panel. The special feature of Watami's yakiniku is that all yakiniku items are priced at 429 yen including tax. There is also an all-you-can-eat option available. They were also offering a weekend lunch buffet for a limited time. I ordered the "Oomori Watami Karubi Lunch (1,298 yen)." For lunch sets, you can get one free rice refill. I think in yakiniku places, it's usually unlimited rice refills, right? In less than 5 minutes, the food arrived on a rail, similar to a conveyor belt sushi. It was a bit difficult to take it off. The golden rule for cheap yakiniku restaurants is to stick to thin meat. Thick or chunky meat tends to be tough. The meat this time was closer to a chunk of meat. I felt a bit uneasy. However, there was quite a lot of it. It seemed satisfying. In comparison, the rice portion was a bit small. The rice quantity was about 180g. Maybe the average amount at a family restaurant. In a regular set meal restaurant, it's usually around 300g, so it's about 60% of that. There were two types of sauce, for karubi and regular, as well as lemon juice. There were garlic and gochujang in packets. This was convenient. I poured the two types of sauces into a saucer and mixed half of the garlic and gochujang each. I grilled the meat in 4 pieces each. The instructions said to flip the meat once, so I followed that. I took a bite of the well-cooked meat. It wasn't as tough as I thought, but it was within my expectations. The two sauces were slightly light for karubi and rich for regular. The slightly light karubi sauce was tastier. This was also unexpected for me. The explanation mentioned that Watami Karubi uses rare cuts, but just because it's a rare cut doesn't mean it's delicious. It's rare to find a rare cut that's delicious, right? (laughs) I ordered a rice refill through the touch panel. It was also about 180g. The rice texture was just right and delicious. Watami Karubi wasn't to my taste this time, but maybe I'll try the slightly cheaper Juicy Karubi next time. I think the atmosphere of the store and the enthusiasm of the staff were good. Thank you for the meal.
