I finally had the opportunity to visit a restaurant that offers a pairing course of Japanese sake. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, I had been looking forward to experiencing this unique dining experience. The combination of flavors creating a harmonious taste, similar to the excitement and anticipation one feels at Disneyland. Each dish paired perfectly with the sake, enhancing the overall experience. Not only did I enjoy the delicious food, but I also learned about Japanese sake and how to appreciate its different flavors. It was a truly immersive experience that allowed me to explore the beauty of Japan's seasons through taste. I believe that this restaurant has the potential to introduce foreign visitors to the world of Japanese sake and showcase the possibilities of Japanese cuisine to a global audience. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience.

The Ikejiri-Ohashi area has become a mecca for sake, especially when it comes to pairing. The owner of this restaurant, who became friends with a customer at "Hakoniwa" in Akasaka four and a half years ago and connected on Facebook, opened this shop in Ohashi. Due to various circumstances and the feeling of not wanting to go alone, it took me two and a half years to finally visit after being invited by a young sake enthusiast at the end of last year. I arrived first and enjoyed a Peace Craft HAZY IPA while waiting for my sake friend to arrive. We started with the "Mid-Winter Pairing Course [Sake]", which featured dishes named "Frost Pillar", "Sea Forest", "Yuzu Scent", "Core Warmth", "Deep Snow in the Mountains", and "Ski Queen". The menu only had these words, truly a work of art. We savored the delicate and creative dishes prepared by the chef, who was a drinking buddy of the owner, paired with sake served at room temperature or warmed up. It was a rich and fulfilling experience that lasted about three hours, with conversations flowing between the young sake enthusiast, the owner, and myself. The shop also holds a liquor license and has a shop area near the entrance where sake and miso are sold. I purchased the special yuzu miso used in the course and left the restaurant feeling very satisfied. Truly a happy ending. #Ikejiri-Ohashi #Ohashi #HappyEnding #Sake #WarmSake #CraftBeer #HeiwaCraft #Tedorigawa #YoshidaKura #ShirakamiShuzo #Shinrai #MimuroSugi #Tenmi #Tennoto #NiidaHonke #NiidaGrandCru #Pairing

I visited on a Thursday night. There were two other groups, but there were still a few seats available. We had a 6-course meal with a different sake pairing for each dish. The staff explained each sake to us, so we were able to enjoy them. The atmosphere in the restaurant was calm and relaxing, making it a great recommendation for couples who enjoy sake.

I have visited this place a few times, including for daytime drinking, and I always have a great time. This time, I visited for the upgraded course in celebration of Mother's Day. My mother was with me, so I ordered a half & half of sake and non-alcoholic drink. I like that you can adjust the salt to your liking with the accompanying salts. The grilled rice ball that I could only eat during daytime drinking was a nice finish! I usually feel a bit unsatisfied with the regular course, but surprisingly, I was very full this time (laughs) The grilled rice ball really did the trick. However, it was delicious nonetheless. I recently found out that they host a "Cheese Bar" in the evening, which also piqued my interest... Ever since I learned about the pairing of sake and cheese at Medetashi-san, I have been hooked, but I can't age cheese like Medetashi-san does... so I will just come to Medetashi-san (laughs) I am curious about the ostrich meat I had before, so I will visit again. Thank you for the meal (^^)

I love restaurants that serve food that makes my body happy! Places like Atedo in Jinbocho and Le Jardin de L'ange in Iidabashi are my favorites. This time, I visited "Medetashi" for the first time, a place that uses safe and healthy ingredients with homemade seasonings. The menu, including sake pairings, is full of wonderful imagination. The chef's seasonal dishes and the Japanese sake that accompanies them made me feel like I was in nature. The pairing of Happy Doburoku and deer meat plate was particularly interesting! You can also shop for sake and seasonings in the store, so I bought dobu sake, Tatsumi miso, and Sujiaonori, but the Yuzumo, which is Sujiaonori and yuzu pepper oil, stood out with its fragrant aroma and lingering yuzu scent. The next day, I used it to make homemade ikura soy sauce pasta, which was incredibly delicious and my family loved it. I would love to visit again! Thank you for the delicious meal!

Tsukushi no Ko, a familiar spot near Ikejiri Ohashi, but it seems there is still a hidden gem. Just a 5-minute walk from the Denen Toshi Line station towards Ohashi Junction, on the 5th floor of an elegant building. The interior is clean and soothing, with a quiet and pleasant atmosphere. The concept of the restaurant is to provide a new sensation of Japanese sake and non-alcoholic pairing that penetrates the heart and body. According to their website, "Medetashi" is an ancient term meaning "wonderful" or "splendid." The dishes are made using abundant ingredients such as organic vegetables and game meat from producers you can see, paired with Japanese sake and non-alcoholic drinks that harmonize with the aroma and flavor of the food. The chef, Chiharu Goto, has an intriguing background, having worked at the renowned restaurant GODENYA in Hong Kong. The cuisine, a blend of Japanese and creative dishes, is refined and exquisite. The glasses used for pairing highlight the sake beautifully, enhancing its aroma, flavor, and aftertaste. The pairing of food, sake, and glass creates a triple harmony. The menu includes dishes like "Sprouting Peas" paired with Yamagata Masamune Inazou 2021, and "Spring Tide" with Kami Kaminari Junmai Usunigori paired with fresh spear squid, udo, and salt koji. The experience is completed with Rockfall Papillon Premium cheese paired with Shirakami Masamune Homarefuji Junmai Namagenshu R2BY, and rice with yuzu miso and pickled bran, using ancient rice from Nagano.

Exiting from the north exit of "Ikejiri-Ohashi" station and going straight ahead, there is a building with a sushi restaurant on the first floor, and the shop is located on the fifth floor. There is an elevator at the back left of the building, so take it up to the fifth floor. This time, I opted for a non-alcoholic pairing and added two glasses of sake. Despite not being knowledgeable about alcohol, they understood my vague request and served me sake that matched my preferences. It had been a while since I had sake, but it was very delicious. The atmosphere of the restaurant was great, the food was well-prepared and tasty, and the service was excellent. However, as a foodie, I felt the portion was a bit small and wished for more. The additional rice dish requires a minimum of two people, so I didn't request it this time, but I will inquire about it next time if there is one. The dishes and drinks that left a lasting impression include: - "Yama no Sawameki" (Boar, Butterbur Sprout, Green Olive): Boar meat resembling corned beef with mashed butterbur sprouts and olives sprinkled on top. The boar meat was delicious without any gamey taste, and it paired well with the bitter butterbur sprouts. - "Shuncho" (Spear Squid, Century Egg): Boiled spear squid served with mashed century egg. It was incredibly delicious and disappeared quickly. - "Sakura Sakura" (Cherry Sea Bream, Sake Lees, White Shimeji Mushroom, Spring Onion, Cherry Blossom): A visually stunning dish with a delicate white fish and flavorful sake lees soup. The soup was so delicious that I wanted more. - Saffron Apple: A drink, probably apple juice, flavored with saffron. It had a subtle alcohol-like taste, perfect for adults. - Roasted Black Beans, Honey, Black Pepper: Black beans roasted and simmered with black pepper and honey for flavor. It seemed to contain alcohol, but it was not noticeable at all. The subtle sweetness of honey and the flavor of black beans blended well, and I finished it quickly. It was a place suited for intimate conversations with loved ones or for relaxing alone. The menu is expected to change around the end of April, so I look forward to visiting again around that time.

I came across a post about the sake restaurant & shop called "めでたしsake restaurant&shop" and decided to give it a try. It is located about a 5-minute walk from Ikejiri-Ohashi Station on the 5th floor of a new building. The restaurant opened in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic in July 2020, making it a relatively new establishment. There are 3 course options available, all priced at 10,450 yen. The courses offer the same dishes, but you can choose between only sake, only non-alcoholic drinks, a half-and-half pairing of sake and non-alcoholic drinks, or a full pairing. On this visit, I opted for the half-and-half pairing to enjoy both options. The menu changes with the seasons, and this time it was the "Late Winter" course. The meal consisted of several dishes, each with unique flavors and presentations. The staff was friendly and provided detailed explanations of the dishes and drinks. Overall, it was a delightful dining experience, and I look forward to returning to try their other seasonal offerings.

A restaurant near Ikejiri Ohashi that offers unique dishes and excellent Japanese sake pairings. Located next to a big pedestrian bridge in front of a sky garden, this hidden gem in a gourmet building showcases a carefully selected collection of teas and sake for sale. The interior features a chic counter seating area. The selection and pairing of Japanese sake was truly outstanding. Each sake had its own personality, was easy to drink, had a clean acidity, and left a beautiful aftertaste. The first dish was a beautiful French-inspired dish with cherry trout, melon, cheese, and a celery marinated sauce. The second dish was a beautiful soup with spinach and firefly squid, flavored with a cocoa-based sauce. The third dish featured mashed potatoes topped with nori, chamomile, and ayu fish, paired with a refreshing green tea miso. The main dish of deer meat was tender and elegant, complemented by a sauce with fragrant sansho pepper. The addition of cheese was also delicious. The meal ended with a unique rice dish made from an old variety of small, glossy grains. The pickled snow peas with nori and chamomile were also delicious. The restaurant pays attention to each ingredient, showcasing its uniqueness with creative ideas and meticulous preparation. Pairing the dishes with Japanese sake creates a truly enjoyable dining experience. Next on the menu is ostrich, and I definitely plan to return here regularly.

A few minutes' walk from Ikejiri-Ohashi Station, across the street from the Ohashi Junction on the Metropolitan Expressway, there is a red building that might be confusing to find. Once inside on the fifth floor, you will discover a chic and slightly surreal setting with a long counter and table seating, offering a view of the expressway. The friendly staff, one of whom trained at a sake bar in Hamamatsucho, will greet you with a smile and offer a variety of dishes paired with sake. The first dish, a strawberry-infused white miso salad, sets the tone with its unique flavors. The second dish features a salad with rehydrated hijiki seaweed, providing a delightful texture. The third dish, a grilled saury with oven-roasted cabbage, offers a surprising contrast of textures. The pumpkin and carrot soup is unexpectedly satisfying, and the main dish of venison showcases the chef's skill in cooking the meat to perfection. The chef's passion for food and dedication to quality shine through in each dish, making it a place worth revisiting.

I visited a sake pairing restaurant in Ikejiri Ohashi a few years ago, and I had high expectations. However, the dishes were quite disappointing. The vegetable consommé had a strong taste of vegetables with no saltiness, almost like boiled vegetable broth. The other dishes were either overly salty or mismatched. The staff even insisted that I eat the separate miso sauce with the main meat dish, which was already too salty. The pairing with sake was mediocre, with very few standout combinations. Overall, the experience was underwhelming, and I would not recommend it. I hope that the restaurant has improved since my visit.
