It's a Sukiya restaurant located a 2-minute walk from Mizue Station on the Toei Shinjuku Line. In December 2021, as I was walking towards the parking lot, I heard someone say that they have curry at this Sukiya, and it's chicken curry that Tokugawa-san likes. Intrigued, I decided to try it out. I ordered the Fluffy Chicken Curry for 680 yen, along with a regular curry for 480 yen and an additional Fluffy Chicken topping for 200 yen. The Fluffy Chicken Curry is a combination of the regular curry with chicken, and there are various other combinations available as well. The curry tasted like the usual curry, and the chicken was indeed fluffy and tender. This curry comes in handy when you're short on time. I usually like the curry from Yoshinoya or Matsuya, but this one was good too.

Hello. This is the Self-Restrained Curry King. February 5th. The curry war continues to intensify even after entering 2021. In January, our Japanese curry king, "CoCo Ichibanya," released their annual Grandmother's Curry. Additionally, the tempura rice bowl chain "Tenya" released a tempura curry. As February began, the convenience store giant "LAWSON" released a curry bread supervised by GODIVA. The beef bowl chain "Matsuya" also released Massaman curry. And today's restaurant, "Sukiya," also started selling a new curry. - Manhattan Deluxe Curry Mini Salad Set This curry was newly released around February 4th. The name is quite grand, as they say a name reflects the body. Just like Gouda Takeshi is a strong wrestler, Sakana-kun is a great fish enthusiast, and Ijiri Okada seems like he would be a prankster. This curry comes with toppings of popular pastrami, cheese, and spinach from Manhattan, making it a quite luxurious curry. Indeed, it can only be described as Manhattan Deluxe. Now, there is a strict rule in the Curry King family for eating cheese-topped menus at Sukiya, including the Cheese Gyudon. That is to mix it vigorously until the solid cheese melts completely. It may look incredibly messy, but that's the way to make it taste delicious. Mix it until it goes squishy-squishy! When the curry starts making such indecent sounds, it's time to eat. When you let it enter your mouth with wide eyes, it showcases even more squishy-squishy goodness. Sukiya's cheese has a strong flavor, so mixing it enhances the taste without overpowering the curry. The curry itself only has finely chopped vegetables as ingredients, so mixing in the pastrami and spinach works well. Truly a rich and special cheese curry. If I were to compare, it would be something like, yes. Manhattan Deluxe, indeed. As they say, the name reflects the body. Lately, I've come to realize. It's good to have a self-proclaimed name on food review sites. Laugh.

Shime Curry, not Ramen. Toppings include beef or pork. If you don't add toppings, it's just a regular pork curry. Sizes range from mini to mega, with only regular size being highlighted in red. I ordered the regular pork curry for 450 yen. It says it's 763kcal. The mega size is a whopping 1290kcal, so better steer clear of that. The dish arrived quickly, looking exactly like the photo. The pork, potatoes, and carrots are all neatly cut into squares, which is quite amusing. The color is dark and it has a spicy aroma, but it's not too hot and suitable for everyone. The balance of curry and rice is good. Personally, I find it tastier than CoCo Ichibanya. It would have been perfect if there were condiments to adjust the spiciness on the table.

In March 2017, I have been comparing and trying curry at various gyudon (beef bowl) restaurants recently. Typically, gyudon restaurants are known for being affordable, but surprisingly, Sukiya offers a beef curry for 890 yen, which is the most expensive item on their menu. The good thing about Sukiya is that they do not have ticket machines, which can be quite stressful when choosing from a variety of options. The beef in their curry is thin but flavorful, and the curry itself is rich and appetizing. Compared to Matsuya's beef curry for 590 yen, Sukiya's quality of meat is definitely better. Overall, Sukiya's beef curry is delicious but slightly on the pricier side.

I visited "Sukiya Mizue Store", located within a 2-minute walk from Toei Shinjuku Line Mizue Station. I always have breakfast without fail. It has been a few years since I last ate outside! There was no particular reason why I didn't eat at home, but I have been curious about the breakfast offered by beef bowl chains for a while now, so I decided to go this time. Inside the store, there were counter seats and table seats, and since there was no guidance, I chose a table seat. There were 4 customers in front of me and 2 customers behind me, so it wasn't as crowded as I thought. I looked at the breakfast menu, and all the items seemed to be offered at a low price, making me worry about whether they can make a profit. Among them, I orally ordered the mixed rice bowl breakfast for 320 yen. It was brought to me in about 3 minutes. The beef side dish, okra onsen tamago, miso soup, and rice were all served in sufficient quantities for the price. Everything was safely delicious and easy to eat quickly, which is great when you don't have much time in the morning. It seems like it could become a habit. I would like to visit again, but I am also curious about the breakfast offered by other similar companies! Thank you for the meal.

In mid-July 2013. I originally dislike hot summers, but this year the rainy season ended early and it suddenly became extremely hot. The thought of summer lasting for over two months feels daunting. It's tiring. Because of this, my body often craves for eel. Eel specialty restaurants are expensive, so I often settle for places like Yoshinoya. Recently, I saw a TV commercial for "Sukiya" featuring a menu item called "Una-Gyu" (eel and beef), so I decided to try it at "Sukiya Mizue Store". I ordered the Una-Gyu regular size for 880 yen. It's a mix of eel bowl and beef bowl. It's quite delicious. Eel dishes at fast food restaurants are still relatively expensive compared to other menu items. Eel is said to become unaffordable for the common people in the future. That's why I want to enjoy it as much as I can while I still can.

On a certain day in August 2015, I had the Negi-Tama Gyudon for 470 yen at Sukiya. It's not bad. This was my first review. Sukiya is located a 2-minute walk from the south exit of Mizue Station on the Toei Shinjuku Line. There is also a Nakau, another restaurant from the same Zensho Group, at the north exit of Mizue Station. Other gyudon restaurants in the area include Yoshinoya and Matsuya, making it a highly competitive area. My go-to order at Sukiya is the Negi-Tama Gyudon (regular size). It comes with egg, rice, beef, and a special sauce with green onions. I once tried mixing the egg with dressing instead of soy sauce, but the soy sauce version tasted better. It's a satisfying meal for just one coin. Thank you as always.
