I came to the nearest station to visit the Kappo Sanmatsu restaurant. I planned to have a few drinks with good food, but ended up enjoying everything that was served. The firefly squid marinated in seawater with a hint of ginger on top was excellent. It came with grated daikon radish, making it refreshing. The chilled tofu had a strong aroma of large bonito flakes, and the edamame beans were plump. The first sour shikuwasa drink was rich in vitamin C. I had a great time on the first night of the long weekend.

I had been curious about this place for a while and tried to go yesterday, but they closed early. So, I went today! The sake was a bit on the pricier side, and I had the Junmai Daiginjo. It was delicious! For food, I had fried oysters, sashimi, edamame, tamagoyaki, ikura chazuke, and dessert (cranberry cake and chestnut ice cream). The total bill came to 7500 yen. The set meals looked delicious, so I want to come back for lunch or dinner!

Kappo Sansho Shimizu-ga-Oka Branch (formerly Tamareien Station Front Branch) in Fuchu City, Tokyo. Kappo Sansho used to be Tamareien Station Front Branch, but the name was changed later. Located in the basement of a building just north of Tamareien Station on the Keio Line. It is a branch of Sansho in Fuchu. Although it is close to my home, I hadn't visited in over 4 years. The interior is clean with a counter on the right and a sunken kotatsu seating area on the left. The menu is similar to the main Sansho branch in Fuchu, offering kappo, sushi, eel, tempura, and a variety of lunch sets. Today, I ordered the Roast Beef Bowl for 1,000 yen and the Ginger Pork Set for 900 yen. The roast beef bowl was generously topped with roast beef, soy sauce and horseradish sauce, a raw egg, and a side salad. The Ginger Pork was served in a beautiful white boat-shaped dish with vegetables and had a good soy sauce flavor. Both dishes were delicious and came with side dishes like simmered hijiki seaweed and pickles. The miso soup made with clam broth was also tasty. It was a great value for lunch with complimentary coffee. The owners are friendly, and the atmosphere makes you want to come back. They offer a wide range of menu options and serve lunch until 3:00 PM and dinner until 10:00 PM, which is convenient. Highly recommended. I visited for lunch. The lunch menu is affordable and generous in portion size. And surprisingly delicious. It's a local, hidden gem near the station, a bit underground and hard to find, but the restaurant is spacious and offers great value for money. I would love to come back for dinner if the taste is this good.

Despite it being my first visit, I decided to become a bottle keeper. Delicious + affordable + local = I want to make it my regular spot.

Located in the basement of a building just north of Tama Reien Station on the Keio Line, this restaurant is a branch of Fuchu's Sansho. The interior is clean, with a counter on the right side upon entering, and a sunken kotatsu seating area on the left. The menu includes a variety of traditional Japanese dishes such as kaiseki, sushi, unagi, and tempura. For lunch, they offer five types of donburi and seven set meals, providing a diverse selection. During dinner, there are various a la carte dishes and set meals available. On this visit, we ordered the following dishes for two people: Chicken Karaage Set Meal (980 yen), Niku Dofu (meat and tofu) Set Meal (980 yen), and Shime Saba (pickled mackerel) for 580 yen. The Niku Dofu had a generous portion size and was nicely presented, with both firm tofu and silky tofu included. The meat was slightly tough but well-seasoned, reminiscent of a beef stew flavor. The Chicken Karaage was crispy and delicious, served with a side of chilled tofu. The Shime Saba was outstanding, perfectly marinated and with a delightful texture. Despite being a branch, this Sansho restaurant has a welcoming atmosphere, run by a friendly couple. They recently renovated and reopened on 11/11 with an updated kitchen. The extensive menu, late lunch hours until 3:00 pm, and dinner service until 11:00 pm make it a place worth revisiting.

There are quite a few restaurants that are closed on Mondays. I had a few options in mind around Tamareien Station, but some were closed or had changed, so I ended up wandering around near the station and found this place. I wanted to avoid chain restaurants, but this one seemed to be a local chain. I arrived around 12:30 pm and there were no other customers. There were dishes set up in the tatami area, which made me wonder if they were closed today, but it turned out they were open. At first, there was a fishy smell that reminded me of a fish market, but then it changed to a cosmetic-like smell, which made me a bit anxious. The water I drank tasted like tap water, adding to my unease. I decided to go with the cheapest tuna set meal. The menu offered a large serving of rice for an extra 50 yen, but I decided against it. The restaurant seemed a bit rushed, and I felt like I wanted to leave quickly. The wet towel didn't smell like detergent or anything strange, and as I wiped the counter with tissue out of boredom, I started to calm down. After about 5 minutes, two groups of 5 customers came in, and I finally relaxed. The owner, an older gentleman, was running the place alone, and his quiet affirmations to himself as he worked were endearing. In less than 10 minutes, I was served tuna, rice, pickles, miso soup, and salad. The portion size was decent. The tuna was tender with a good balance of freshness and richness. The miso soup had a unique twist with nori, and the salad was average. The sesame salt sprinkled on the rice was a nice touch. If the restaurant was cleaner and odor-free, it would attract more customers. Despite the challenges of running the place alone, the owner's efforts were commendable. I visited a restaurant near Tamareien Station on the Keio Line for lunch. It was a suburban establishment, so it didn't have a sophisticated feel, but the grilled fish set meal I ordered was cooked just right and very delicious. The prices were reasonable, and I enjoyed a leisurely lunch. The lunch menu also included rice bowl dishes, fried chicken set meals, tempura set meals, and sashimi. This time I visited during the day, but if I have the chance, I would like to come back at night to drink and eat.

Each dish is carefully prepared and you can feel the chef's dedication. It's a cozy restaurant.
