Located at the Goryo intersection in Ebisu, "Yamadaya Manju" is a traditional Japanese confectionery shop. The main attraction is their small-sized manju called "Yamadaya Manju". They also offer different flavors such as "kokibi" and "marobu" in the same size. Each piece costs just over 100 yen, making it convenient for gifts. I purchased some as gifts and also bought some for myself to enjoy at home. The manju has a thin skin with a generous amount of sweet red bean paste inside. With only 22 grams each, they are light and easy to eat - truly a one-bite manju. Whether for yourself or as a small gift, this shop is worth checking out.

This is a long-established steamed bun shop near Ebisu Station, founded in the third year of the Keio era. I decided to get some takeout while I was in the area. It is located on the corner of a street a little west of Ebisu Station, with a very distinctive entrance. The neat noren curtain gives a sense of tradition to this long-standing shop. I purchased small steamed buns wrapped in traditional plum-marked packaging. It seems that they are also trying their hand at modern sweets using cream. When I tried the steamed buns at home, they had a subtle sweetness with a thin film coating the smooth red bean paste inside. The coating was so thin that you could hardly tell if it was there while eating. In terms of texture, it felt like I was just eating the red bean paste. This is more suitable for a tea ceremony rather than just a snack, due to its refined sweetness. It would also make a great gift. I would definitely like to purchase more when I am in the area again.

I bought it as a souvenir. The shop had a nice atmosphere, but the highlight was the atmosphere of the shop itself. I also bought some for myself, but the manju was just too sweet. Each piece was small, with almost no skin around it, so it felt like eating the sweet bean paste directly. It's good for those who like sweet things, but for me, it was a bit too sweet.

Located about a 5-minute walk from Ebisu Station, this shop is situated at a corner of a five-way intersection on the way to Daikanyama. With counter seats inside, it is likely that dining in is also possible. The famous Yamadaya manju! These manju have a thin skin with a sweet red bean paste inside. They offer three types of manju for you to try, each with a refined sweetness that allows you to appreciate the unique flavors of each. I personally like the kokibi flavor. I also tried the matcha pudding and hojicha pudding. The puddings are not too sweet, with a layer of caramel-like red bean paste at the bottom. Delicious! A sophisticated adult dessert. The rich aroma and subtle bitterness of the matcha pudding were outstanding. The hojicha was also good, but I preferred the matcha. The puddings are only available twice a week (Monday and Thursday) and often sell out quickly. They have a shelf life of about 3 days. While many may have tried Yamadaya's manju, the puddings are a bit more unique. They make a great gift that will be appreciated by anyone, even those who are not fans of red bean paste. Definitely worth a try! Lastly, the staff at this shop are always very kind and provide excellent customer service every time I visit.

Do you know about Yamada Manju, a bite-sized steamed bun? I first learned about it when someone brought it as a treat to the office. Since then, whenever I see it at events or in a corner store, I always make sure to buy some. But, I was surprised to find out that there is a shop in Ebisu. When buying at events, they come in packs with a short expiration date, but at the store, you can get household-sized portions at a good price. On this day, I bought a box for gifts and some loose ones for home. Even though they are small, there is a seating area inside. For those who can't visit in person, you can also purchase them online through websites like Rakuten. Nearby, there are also other recommended shops like 5DELI Ebisu for fresh juice and SABAR Ebisu for specialty saba dishes. It's probably more cost-effective to buy the household-sized portions. If you're in the area, be sure to stop by! Yamada-ya Manju Original Ebisu Store.

Yamadaya manju is my go-to snack when I'm in a pinch! Actually, I buy it for myself even when I'm not in a bind haha. This time, I wanted to try the "Meisui Shiruko Kira" in the eat-in option, but unfortunately, it was during the peak of the pandemic so I couldn't dine in. I ended up buying 6 servings of "Kira" and 3 boxes of manju. They also offer a set with "Kira" and manju, which I think would make a great gift for occasions like Ochugen. The shiruko wasn't too sweet and I thought it was perfect for a nutritious boost in the summer. It was a bit heavy with the liquid and red bean paste, though. It's convenient that they also sell their products online! You can find their products in department stores too, which is very handy. Now I'm starting to crave it again!

I love Yamadaya Manju and often buy it at department stores. It has a refined sweetness and the taste of red beans spreads throughout your mouth. It's a small manju, but it feels like you're experiencing the universe. This is the only street shop in the Kanto region. It's a small shop, but the interior is elegant like a traditional Japanese confectionery shop. There are chairs inside where about six people can sit and eat. My friend ordered matcha Bavarian cream and I ordered hojicha pudding. Since it's summer, they serve cold Japanese tea. It's nice that the tea is complimentary. And the tea is delicious too. Both the matcha and hojicha were very tasty. You can also buy just one manju. The "kokibi" commemorating the 150th anniversary is made with white bean paste and adzuki beans, and it's only available at this shop. I kept coming back to eat it and even got a loyalty card.

Yamadaya Manju, with its main store in Ehime, was founded in the third year of the Keio era. The only direct store in Tokyo is in Ebisu. You can also purchase their products online. This time, I came to buy gifts and treats for myself. I couldn't decide between the regular manju and the "kokibi" manju made with brown sugar, so I tried both at the store. From the moment I took a bite, the thin, translucent skin and the filling inside melted in my mouth. The filling has a refined sweetness and the texture is exquisite. The bite-sized portion is easy to eat and very convenient. I personally preferred the "kokibi" manju because it had a richer flavor, so I bought it for gifts. I also couldn't resist trying the hojicha pudding. The caramel flavor normally uses sweet bean paste, but the pudding itself is not very sweet, so it pairs well. The strong aroma and taste of hojicha, combined with the smooth texture, was delicious. The matcha pudding was sold out, so I'll try it next time it's available. The packaging is elegant, making it a great gift for someone of higher status.

I was super interested in a review by MyReviewer, so I decided to go check it out! The shop is just a few minutes walk from Ebisu Station, on the first floor of a building. It feels like a traditional Japanese confectionery store, with various items displayed in the showcase. But if you look closely, there are counter seats and a large table inside. I placed my order and paid first, opting for the warm set for 180 yen (tax included). You can choose between two types of steamed buns: the regular Yamadaya manju or the one made with brown sugar. I decided to try the "honoka" made with brown sugar since it was something new for me. I was told to sit and wait at the counter. After a short wait, the set arrived on a tray! The manju was small (≧▽≦) That's right, when you think of Yamadaya manju, this is the size you expect. The staff poured the first cup of tea for me. There was also a finger towel next to the manju! (◎_◎;) The honoka manju had a light brown color, probably due to the brown sugar. The smooth texture of the red bean paste was delicious, with a refined sweetness. The small size was also nice. The Yamadaya manju, which I hadn't eaten in a while, tasted even better than I remembered (❁´ω`❁) There were three cups of tea served (even the teacups were small), all for 180 yen (tax included), which is amazing quality for the price. It made me want to buy some to take home. However, it's clear that the main focus of the shop is on selling, rather than dining in. It's more like a place for a quick snack (^^;

In Ehime Prefecture, there is a chain of stores called Yamadaya Manju, founded in Keio 3 (1867). The Ebisu store is a take-out shop where you can also sit at the counter and enjoy tea. Originally established in Niiya City, part of the former Uwajima Domain, it is now based in Matsuyama City. A friend mentioned that this store used to be located in Nishi-Azabu, but has since moved. I have purchased items from them when they had an exhibition at the Kabuki-za basement. I have also tasted their products and can confirm they are delicious. Therefore, I decided to have tea with a friend. The Yamadaya Manju tea set costs 180 yen and includes a manju with a delicate thin skin and a sweet potato filling that is not too sweet, giving it a comforting texture. It is a great value, possibly one of the cheapest in Junior's Review history. I briefly considered the limited edition kibi manju made with kibi (millet), but decided to go with the default option since it had been a while since my last visit. (Visited in December 2017)

After lunch, I made a detour to the shop next door. Today is the day when hojicha pudding is restocked, so I stopped by. I also bought some red bean buns and a slightly different flavored steamed bun called kokibi. I eat kokibi to raise my blood sugar during overtime. Oh, what an elegant sweetness! The hojicha pudding was brought home. The pudding itself is not sweet at all. The flavor and aroma of hojicha are strong. The caramel part is made using the red bean paste from these steamed buns. Since the pudding is not sweet, it might be recommended for those who are not fond of sweet desserts. I, however, have a sweet tooth, so I found it lacking in sweetness (laughs). The texture was smooth and had just the right amount of creaminess.

There is a small counter where you can enjoy Japanese sweets and tea. They offer a set for 180 yen which includes green tea (hot or cold) and a choice between the regular Yamadaya manju or the kibi manju. This time, I chose the kibi manju, specifically the "Kokibi" which is made with kibi sugar for a refined sweetness. I paired it with cold green tea (from Yame, Fukuoka) and found it to be delicious. I preferred this over the regular Yamadaya manju. The location is about a 10-minute walk from Ebisu Station towards Shibuya, at a shop on the corner of an intersection. It's a convenient place to quietly take a break when you want some time alone.

I was on my way to Chirimuro from Ebisu when I stumbled upon this place. I was very surprised to find Yamadaya Manju, facing the Gosa Intersection (Ebisu Nishi 1-chome intersection). And when I saw the menu outside, I was surprised again! "180 yen??"... I was immediately drawn in. After looking at the Yamadaya Manju's website, which I often see in department stores, I found out that they have 6 stores in Ehime Prefecture and only this one has a tea room attached. I can feel their enthusiasm for opening this store. The clean and fresh interior has a counter with 4 seats on the left side as you enter, and table seats on the right. Since the table seats were full, I sat at the counter. I ordered the following: - Warm Refreshment Set 180 yen The sign outside modestly says 'Yamadaya Manju 1 piece and a sip of green tea', but what you get for 180 yen is incredible. The Yamadaya Manju has a thin skin wrapped around a refined and smooth sweet bean paste. It's always delicious and consistent. The round and tall shape is also cute. The Yame tea is beautiful in color and delicious. For 180 yen in this location, it's truly impressive. I realized I haven't reviewed this place recently, but the prices haven't gone up. I didn't stay longer as there were other customers, but I would love to visit again.

I found this while exploring Ebisu. It's a street shop of Yamadaya Manju. It's a small shop, so I thought they only sold their products, but you can actually sit at the counter and eat in. You can get a Yamadaya Manju and tea for 180 yen! That's a great deal in Ebisu, right? (laughs) When you want to take a little break, this small Yamadaya Manju and tea are just right. It's a clean and new shop, so I think I'll stop by whenever I come to Ebisu. Besides Yamadaya Manju, they also sell pudding. I'm not sure if you can eat in with that.

At Ebisu's Yamadaya Manju, you can get a break set for 180 yen to cool off (≧∇≦) It includes a small Yamadaya manju and a cold Fukuoka green tea. You can choose between having the manju at room temperature or frozen. Since it was my first time trying Yamadaya manju, I recommend the room temperature option. It's easy to eat with your hands, and it even comes with a finger wipe. Plus, the napkin and glass have the Yamadaya manju logo on them. Inside the thin manju skin, there's a generous amount of elegant sweet bean paste. It's delicately sweet and has a history of over 150 years. The beautiful purplish color shows the bean paste peeking through. You can buy them individually for 98 yen each. Yamadaya manju really stands out with their wide variety of manju options. Try it and feel their confidence in their individual manju offerings. Everyone, take a little break at Yamadaya manju and enjoy. I wondered if even the Chinese bride of the founder enjoyed eating these 150 years ago while I was eating (≧∇≦)

I was surprised by the low price of the new manju shop in Ebisu, which is under 100 yen, but when I opened the package, I was surprised by its small size. These manju are bite-sized, making them a great gift for a large group of people. The taste is elegant and well-balanced, making it perfect even for giving to someone of higher status.

This newly opened store has a very clean and elegant interior, exuding a sense of sophistication. I came here wanting to try the bite-sized manju that actor Shido Nakamura used as wedding favors. The staff provided a polite and gentle explanation, and I ended up purchasing the "non-preservable" version (apparently the packaging is different for the preservable one). I tried both the room temperature and frozen versions as instructed, and the taste was very elegant. Indeed, it is small, and the skin is extremely thin. Can this be called a manju? Since anything that is "filled with bean paste and steamed or baked" is considered manju, there should be no mistake. However, it may be a matter of personal taste, but I prefer the skin to have a certain thickness (volume)... I once tried a pastry that was just the "crispy sweet part on top" of a melon bread, and it wasn't very delicious, it felt lacking, yes, the bread part is also necessary for melon bread, it's not good without it... If you want to enjoy the refined red bean paste that melts in your mouth, then I recommend trying it out.
