I started a gourmet website for Mitomi Emon. Do you know about the Roppongi era's "Ishitoro (Sutouro)"? It must have been over 20 years ago, during my time at the advertising agency, I often went there with my cool seniors. Back then, it was rare to find a restaurant without an introduction, and the high hurdle of needing an introduction was perfect for industry people. I remember seeing media, entertainers, and even politicians there. Although there was no signboard, the scent of sesame oil was unmistakable and impossible to hide. Now, Ishitoro is no longer at that location. In 2017, due to the aging of the building, they were forced to relocate. The taste of Ishitoro can now be enjoyed at the Roppongi Annex store and the Azabu-Juban store, where they moved to. With the move, they abolished the introduction system, and now anyone can make a reservation. It seems that with the spread of the internet, it has become difficult to hide things. However, there was still no signboard at the Azabu-Juban store. It still looked like a private house. The restaurant uses a distinctive stone pot in its dishes. It started as a Korean royal cuisine and gained popularity in Taiwan as a hot pot dish. The dish involves stir-frying pork belly with plenty of sesame oil, adding soup, and then adding vegetables and seafood to simmer. Throughout the meal, your senses will be tickled by the aroma. When you can't resist anymore, the staff will serve the dish onto your plate. The dish is served with "Ponzu sauce" and "egg and bean paste sauce." Additionally, fermented tofu and garlic are provided for flavor variations. The satisfaction is so direct and addictive that it reaches your brain instantly. It's not just delicious, it's truly savory. From meat to seafood dumplings to a simple Chinese noodle finish, I can't remember the details, but this taste was undoubtedly from Ishitoro. Stone Tower, Azabu-Juban branch. Had dinner with colleagues I've known for 15 years. It's a Taiwanese hot pot restaurant located inside a building, so it's easy to miss. I hesitated a bit before entering, haha. We enjoyed two types of sauces, a spicy one and a sweet one served with eggs. We had a variety of ingredients like vegetables, pork, shrimp, crab, and somen noodles. It was delicious. I think it's been since the new employees joined that I last came here. The almond jelly dessert and ramen as a finishing touch were also incredibly tasty.

Restaurant Name: Suto-Ro Location: Azabu-Juban Located near the Ichinohashi intersection of Azabu-Juban, Suto-Ro is a cozy little place that feels like visiting a friend's house. There is no signboard, but you can spot the name "Ishidou Sakura" on the mailbox. This was my first visit to the Azabu-Juban branch, having previously been to the Roppongi location years ago. I visited with a group of nine friends and we started with a toast of lemon sour. The stone pot was filled with plenty of sesame oil and a special broth, along with vegetables, shiitake mushrooms, shrimp, fish cakes, beef, and pork. The staff prepared everything for us and served it individually. There were two dipping sauces - one with raw egg yolk and sauce, and the other a special ponzu sauce. I personally loved the sauce with the egg yolk. For the finishing touch, we had the option of noodles or rice. The staff recommended noodles, and they were delicious. It had been a while since I had eaten such tasty oil hot pot. It's the kind of dish that you crave even in the summer - truly addictive.

I couldn't go to Ishigashiro last time because it was fully booked! It's a cozy restaurant where you can enjoy hot pot in a homey atmosphere like visiting a private house. It's located near the station, but it's a bit difficult to find the place for the first time. Look for the building next to Domino's Pizza as a landmark. Once seated, you can smell the nice aroma of sesame oil. Since the seating is limited, it's recommended to make a reservation in advance. They only offer a hot pot course, but there is no menu. The staff will inform you about the drink options. It's rare to have Shaoxing wine available. While enjoying the appetizers, the staff will prepare the hot pot and serve it at the right timing. There are two types of dipping sauces, one with raw egg and the other with ponzu sauce, allowing you to enjoy different flavors with condiments. Despite the seemingly large portion, it's surprisingly light and easy to eat. You can choose to finish with noodles or rice. The course also includes almond jelly for dessert, making it a satisfying meal. Ishigashiro Course ¥6000

This restaurant is like a hidden gem, known only to a select few. There is a branch in Roppongi as well, but there is no sign outside. I went there for a business dinner, so I could only take this one photo...!! The staff at the restaurant cook the hot pot for you. The aroma of the meat being sautéed in sesame oil is wonderful...(*´ω`*) Just when I thought it would be delicious as it is, they added the soup! They keep adding seafood like crab and shrimp, vegetables, and mushrooms, and let it simmer in this hot stone pot. The soup has a slight spiciness to it, which pairs really well with the sesame oil...! The flavors of the seafood, vegetables, and meat simmered in the soup are incredibly delicious!! I have never had a hot pot like this before, so it was both innovative and impressive. The portion was generous, and I left feeling very satisfied. They also provided a ponzu sauce and a sauce with a sukiyaki flavor for dipping, both of which were delicious. The location is convenient for business dinners, but I will definitely visit again for a private meal next time ☺️

It's a place where you can feel confident recommending it for business meetings or group gatherings. We visited with two people around 7pm on a regular day. It had been a few years since our last visit, but the taste and service were still excellent. The smell of sesame oil, the taste of two types of sauce, everything was satisfying. What's more, despite being a hot pot restaurant, everything is prepared right in front of you, so you can enjoy a delicious hot pot while engrossed in conversation with your friends. It's a luxurious experience.

Located just a short walk from Mabashi-Jūban Station, this restaurant was recommended to me by a friend as a hidden gem. It doesn't have any signs, so it can be a bit hard to find at first. The cozy and homey atmosphere is its standout feature. I decided to try the Shanghai crab course, which is only available during this season. The Shanghai crab was delicious and paired well with the alcohol. The hot pot dish was surprisingly generous in portion. The staff cooked pork belly with sesame oil, creating a mouthwatering aroma. It was satisfying and not too heavy. I also chose the rice porridge as the finale, which was also delicious. It's a relaxing place where you can take your time. I definitely want to visit again.

The cozy atmosphere feels like being at home. A large stone pot is ready on the table. Are these condiments for the pot? Two types were prepared, one with plenty of leeks and the other with egg yolk. For the appetizer before the pot, there was chicken and cucumber with sesame sauce. As you eat, the staff quickly starts preparing the pot for you. First, plenty of pork belly is placed in the pot and stir-fried with plenty of sesame oil. The fragrant aroma spreads and your appetite grows...! The meat is gradually cooked through. Then add beef as well! Once the meat is cooked, add soup, seafood like shrimp and crab, mushrooms, leeks, and plenty of ingredients to simmer. The crab, beef, and vegetables are gradually cooked through. And here is the completed pot! The seafood and meat flavors soak into the soup, looking delicious. The tender pork belly, flavorful beef, and meatballs, all go perfectly with the spicy soup. The shiitake mushrooms and crab are also full of umami...! This pot is so good you could eat it forever. The sesame oil flavor is not too heavy, with a perfect balance. Finish with porridge. And almond tofu for a refreshing taste in your mouth. This private atmosphere and amazing stone pot make you want to come back regularly. I'll visit again, thank you for the feast!

I visited this restaurant when the weather was still chilly and I was craving hot pot! I used to frequent the Roppongi location, but unfortunately it closed due to the pandemic. However, I heard that there is a store in Azabu-Juban, so I went there right away ❤️ Currently, they have two locations, Roppongi Annex and Azabu-Juban. The course meal costs 6000 yen per person, and you can add extra items if you like. There is no drink menu, but you can pretty much order anything you want (lol). The appetizer was daikon mochi, not warm but chewy and delicious! The staff prepares everything for the hot pot, which is really nice! You pour plenty of sesame oil into the stone pot, stir-fry the vegetables and meat. The aroma at that point is just amazing!!! It really stimulates your appetite!!! There are two sauces, ponzu and egg, and the staff recommends which one to use with the ingredients. I just followed their recommendation, and it was really delicious (lol). The meat is tender and tasty with the sauce, and the vegetables are refreshing and tasty! You can add garlic or spicy miso to your liking. The spicy miso is not very spicy despite being bright red, so I added a lot. Of course, I added plenty of garlic too (lol). For the finale, you can choose between noodles and rice, but noodles are the clear favorite. It's like ramen and you can enjoy it as is, but I preferred to add miso and garlic! Since there is no drink menu, I'm not sure about the prices, but it may be a bit on the expensive side. The staff was very friendly and even escorted us to the exit, and the food was really delicious, but the cost performance is not the best... However, it's a unique place that I will definitely visit again, my favorite restaurant (lol). Thank you for the meal ❤️

Ishidourou used to be by referral only, but now it seems anyone can enter. The original main store is already gone, so I went to the Azabu-Juuban store. There is no sign, so you just enter through the front door. The nostalgic smell of sesame oil fills the air. They stir-fry the meat in sesame oil, make a hot pot, and finish with ramen. They add fermented tofu and garlic to an egg sauce to enhance the richness. It had been over ten years since my last visit, but the taste remained the same and was delicious.

And what better way to celebrate than with a hot pot? Here at Sutouro, you can enjoy a unique hot pot experience that you won't find anywhere else. Start by cooking pork and beef in a pot with sesame oil, then remove the meat and add broth, vegetables, and more meat. There are two dipping sauces available - one made with ponzu and the other with egg. Personally, I recommend trying the egg-based sauce with the sesame oil-flavored meat. It's so delicious you won't be able to stop eating. The staff will prepare the hot pot for you and even help with serving, making the experience feel luxurious. On this particular day, we enjoyed a lavish course that included Shanghai crab, but even without it, the combination of meat, sesame oil, and egg in the hot pot is perfect for the cold season ahead. I would love to come back weekly for this delightful experience, even if it costs around 15,000 yen per person.

I was invited to this restaurant for the first time and it turned out to be a Taiwanese cuisine place located at the crossroads of Juuban. I tried their stone pot dishes, where pork and beef are stir-fried in sesame oil. It was surprisingly light and delicious, especially when paired with vegetables. The atmosphere was enjoyable, and I had a great time chatting while enjoying the food. It's a place I would definitely want to visit again in the future.

I personally enjoy eating it as is, especially with this egg sauce! I can't stop eating this insatiable pot. For the finishing touch, you can choose between porridge or ramen, and I chose ramen! It goes really well with the sesame oil broth. The dessert was a silky almond tofu. It was a very satisfying course. I want to go every winter, it's a luxurious pot that can't be recreated at home.

The restaurant didn't have a signboard, so it may be confusing for some as it looks like an ordinary house. I also hesitated before entering, wondering if it was okay to open the door. However, I went in, climbed the stairs, and successfully joined the group. On this day, we had the Shanghai crab course. We started with the Shanghai crab, and then the staff prepared the stone pot dish for us. Pork and beef were cooked in a stone pot with sesame oil, lightly cooked, then removed from the pot. Broth was added along with vegetables, and the meat was added back in. The aroma of sesame oil was very appetizing. There were two types of dipping sauces - one based on ponzu and the other on eggs. The flavors kept changing, making it hard to stop eating (laughs). I once tried to peel a Shanghai crab myself at another restaurant, following instructions, but it was so difficult. I really respect how neatly they can peel it here. I heard a story that at another restaurant in Azabu-Juban called Fureika, they have a dedicated person for peeling Shanghai crabs... I would love to visit again. Thank you for the delicious meal ♫

The spacious table seats feel like private rooms, likely due to the recent lifting of the state of emergency. We enjoyed a South African red wine for ¥8000, which was rich and delicious. The staff continuously prepared and served the hot pot as we chatted and savored two different flavors. The finale was a choice of porridge or noodles, both delicious and satisfying. We drank all the soup and left feeling completely satisfied.

We went out for a meal with my close colleagues as our company allowed gatherings of up to 4 people for a short period of time. One of them heard about this place with amazing hot pot and made a reservation for us. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere despite being close to the station, which got everyone excited. The hot pot was indeed delicious with a great aroma of sesame oil and tasty meat. The staff served us attentively, which was nice. We also decided to add Shanghai crab, which was a great choice as well. Even though it was small, the crab was full of eggs and allowed us to enjoy the taste of winter. It was a happy moment to be able to gather with friends after about a year and enjoy a luxurious time chatting freely. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

I had been curious about the restaurant called Sutouro, so I decided to make a reservation on the same day and went there. It's located right next to an izakaya near Azabu-Juban Station, in a standalone house-like building. When you ring the doorbell, a staff member comes to greet you at the entrance. They ask you to come in with your shoes on and you climb up the stairs. We were seated at a table on the 2nd floor, with no other customers around, almost like a private dining experience. The menu offered a stone pot course for 6,000 yen, with an additional 3,000 yen per person if you want to add Shanghai crab. There is no drink menu, but they do offer shochu, wine, and more. - Glass of beer: Started with beer. - Shanghai crab marinated in Shaoxing wine: The Shanghai crab was smaller than expected but delicious when eaten raw. The Shaoxing wine marinade was strong and the sauce was tasty, making it a great pairing with alcohol. - Steamed Shanghai crab (female): The staff showed us the crab steamed and then skillfully prepared it for us. The crab was easy to eat, and the crab innards and miso were rich and flavorful. The crab legs were light and refreshing, especially when dipped in vinegar and ginger sauce. - Shaoxing wine (2,500 yen): Served in a bottle, we enjoyed it on the rocks. It paired well with both the Shanghai crab and the stone pot. - Stone pot: The staff cooked pork, vegetables, and more in sesame oil in front of us. There were two dipping sauces, one with raw egg and a soy-based sauce with red fermented tofu-like substance, and the other with ponzu. Both were delicious, and we couldn't stop eating. The meal ended with noodles or porridge, and we chose noodles in a simple and tasty soy sauce broth. We also tried dipping the noodles in the leftover egg sauce, which was heavenly. - Almond jelly for dessert: Soft and moist, a perfect ending to the meal. Overall, we were very satisfied with the delicious Shanghai crab and stone pot course, and I would love to come back again next winter. The total bill for two people was just under 30,000 yen.

About a week ago, I made a reservation for 7 people at 7:30 pm on a weekday. The entrance is in a normal apartment building, which made me hesitate, but when I rang the doorbell, someone appeared. 【Service】A handsome waiter takes care of everything from cooking to serving. It feels like being treated like a king or noble. It may not be suitable for deep or trivial conversations. I wonder if the service is the same for two people. 【Food】I couldn't enjoy the meal from the beginning as I joined in midway due to work. I was disappointed that I didn't get to see the moment when a large amount of sesame oil was added to the meat. The finished product didn't have as much sesame oil flavor as I expected. There were plenty of vegetables, giving off a healthy hot pot with a sesame oil aroma vibe. 【Bill】Around 10,000 yen per person. 【Summary】I couldn't fully enjoy the meal from the start, so my satisfaction level is only half.

The sesame oil hot pot restaurant without a signboard is still a bit hard to find. You can relax as if you were in your own living room. It's the Shanghai crab season, so we had a hot pot course with crab. We added plenty of sesame oil, meat, vegetables, and pork, creating a hot pot full of sesame oil flavor and rich meat and seafood broth. The aroma is amazing. It goes well with the egg sauce. We finished every drop of the soup with the noodles. Compared to a visit to another branch a while ago, it felt like the sesame oil flavor was reduced, but it was still delicious.
