On May 3, 2023 (Wednesday) at 14:17 (according to the receipt), I enjoyed some new type of dessert called "Baba Orum" at a shop 100m away from my home. It was a sponge cake with plenty of rum and strawberries on top. The strawberries had a tartness to them, but when combined with the creamy filling, it was a bold and delicious treat. The harmony of fruity flavors and rum was delightful, and I enjoyed it with a slight buzz. I also had their classic cream puff and pudding, which were both delicious. It was a lovely snack time on my balcony at home.

I found a patisserie on my way back from the Koto Ward Office. It's always crowded whenever I go there. I see Koto Ward madams and salarymen buying souvenirs there. I bought some baked sweets and bread, and the bread was firm and delicious. The honey, cheese, and walnut combination was the best! I'm curious about the other bread too! The baked sweets start from around 250 yen... Boxed cookies are 600 yen and make a nice little gift.

On weekends, a little after 12 o'clock, there were about 2-3 groups of customers including myself, and the staff were efficiently wrapping and taking care of payments. I don't often come to the area around Toyocho, but I was intrigued by the word of mouth and decided to buy the Baba au Rum. However, I ended up getting another cake after being dazzled by all the glittering cakes. The Tandores was a chiffon cake with orange and white chocolate topping. The cream was light and delicious. The Rum Raisin cake had plenty of rum-soaked sponge with rum raisin cream in between, topped with lots of whipped cream. It had a good aroma and was tasty, but I got a bit tired of it halfway through, maybe because there was too much cream. The packaging was done carefully, and the lively atmosphere in the store was nice. I definitely want to try the Baba au Rum next time and also the baked sweets. Thank you for the meal! I had always wanted to visit Eclair Schedule Higashimachi. Every time I passed by, there was always a line, so I kept putting it off for another time... It had been many years... On a Sunday, I decided to visit around 10 o'clock, despite the hot temperature of 30 degrees. I had heard about their cream puffs and decided to buy one. When I saw the price, I was surprised as I thought it was around 300 yen based on reviews. But with the high cost of eggs and wheat, I guess they had to raise the price. It was 350 yen each. Although it was a bit pricey, I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was. The inside was filled with rich custard cream and the choux pastry was crispy. The texture of the nuts added a nice touch. It was just the right amount of sweetness. It was the most delicious cream puff I've ever had. I really liked it. The staff, including the manager, were all very nice. I rarely give ratings over 4.0, but I will definitely go back to buy more! On my way out, I overheard some moms talking about how all the cakes here are beautiful, and I couldn't agree more. I look forward to coming back to buy some cakes when it cools down. I finally made it to the patisserie I couldn't visit before! Had tantanmen noodles. Changed the address on my driver's license. Did some shopping at Nitori. While wandering around, my family reminded me of the patisserie I hadn't been to, so I decided to go check it out! The first thing that stood out was the number of staff... definitely more than 10. The pastries looked incredibly delicious. You can tell they are made with great care. I found a really good patisserie! Thank you for the meal!

Located in an apartment area on the north side of Toyocho Station, this patisserie was featured on a local TV show. The owner, who trained in France, opened the shop nine years ago. The shop is described as stylish, with English signage, and a spacious layout showcasing a variety of stylish sweets. I ordered the "Baba au Rhum" for 583 yen, which is a cake made with a lot of alcohol. The staff were stylish and welcoming, and I paid with a cashless payment method. I took the cake home and enjoyed it as a dessert for dinner. The "Baba au Rhum" was rich with cream, orange, lemon, vanilla syrup, and rum, giving it a French flair. I paired it with some Bacardi rum I had at home. I might just be a fan of Baba cakes.

Today is March 14th, White Day. I searched for a delicious cake to give to my family and found this place, Eclat du Jour Higashiyokocho Main Store, which is open until 7 pm. It's currently 6:30 pm and the store is packed with customers. Besides cakes, they also sell various other items. I decided to focus on cakes and lined up (about 10 people). The female staff members were efficiently handling the orders and payments (about 5-6 people). I ordered cakes to take home, considering I would be traveling by train and bicycle. I chose the following from the showcase: Tiramisu (561 yen), Shortcake Verrine (594 yen), Mont Blanc (594 yen), and Baba au Rum (540 yen), tax included. After a short wait, I paid and carefully carried the cakes home. I ended up trying the Baba au Rum. The cake had a strong rum aroma, with the rum-infused dough being quite soaked (there was rum collected at the bottom). The orange and lemon mixed into the dough were subtly present. The whipped cream was light and complemented the rum-flavored dough. The strawberry on top provided a refreshing touch. It was a surprise to learn that this was a classic French cake. Overall, it was a successful White Day celebration with my family enjoying the cakes. Next time, I'll try a different cake for an even better experience.

I went to pick up the Christmas cake I had reserved. The line for people wanting to buy cut cakes for the day was crazy. I thought I would have to wait in that line... but it turned out the reservation line was different, and they handed it to me right away. The woman who seemed to be the chief at the storefront always impresses me with her customer service! The cake itself was a berry Noël. Some of my family members no longer eat whipped cream, so I chose a mousse cake! It was a hit! Truly amazing! I forgot to take a picture of the cross-section, but it was also beautiful. The blackberry tartlet has a great balance of acidity from the mousse and buttery flavor, which pairs perfectly with the tart crust. I want to try the raspberry next time! After practice, I stopped by this place. It was a scorching hot day, so even though there were delicious-looking breads displayed, I just couldn't bring myself to buy any (lol). As soon as I walked into the store, I stood in front of the thermometer and it showed "46 degrees" (lol). They had something called a smoothie soft serve, which you could eat inside the store (standing up) so I ordered one. Due to the intense heat outside, I just couldn't bring myself to eat outside... I felt like I would melt instantly if I stepped outside. The smoothie soft serve was 600 yen, and today's flavor was "matcha and griotte cherry". The cherry gelato had a really nice sourness, and I quite liked it. When I ate it together with the red bean paste, it felt like I was eating a "sweet and sour paste", which was fun. As I carefully savored the cherry gelato on top (there was just a little bit), I was delighted to find out that there was also a generous portion at the bottom (you wouldn't know until you ate through the matcha soft serve lol). It was a delightful treat. It was delicious, sweet, and cold. I felt revived. I want to come back next time when it's not as hot and buy some bread too.
