This is a senbei shop located on Dongazaka in Sengoku. It seems that the sesame senbei is sold out, so I bought sweet senbei, soy sauce senbei, green tea senbei, and spicy senbei. I like sweet the most, I like the subtle sweetness that goes one step further than sweet rice crackers, and the sweetness of green tea increased after leaving it for a day.

The atmosphere of this shop selected as one of the top 100 is good as a tourist spot in this area. The senbei is delicious, but I haven't had any that tasted bad before... I think it's enough to just buy Kaki no Tane, Karinto, or Happy Turn Soft Salad at convenience stores or supermarkets.

After leaving "Negishi Taiyakiya", I walked towards Sendagi and turned right at the Dangozaka intersection near Sendagi Station, arriving at "Kikumi Senbei Main Store" at 10:45. It was my first visit in a while. The nearest station is Sendagi Station, just a 1-2 minute walk away. Established in 1875 (Meiji 8), this traditional hand-baked rice cracker shop has a wide storefront that exudes a nostalgic charm. I decided to buy some nori rice crackers. There were three levels of hardness available: "Edo Nikko" (soft), "Edo Murasaki" (normal), and "Edo Maki" (hard), all priced at 620 yen. I bought the "Edo Murasaki" for 620 yen, along with sesame senbei for 90 yen, chili pepper senbei for 90 yen, and soy sauce senbei for 80 yen, totaling 880 yen.
- Edo Murasaki: The nori rice cracker "Edo Murasaki" is made with domestic glutinous rice and fresh seaweed, giving it a perfectly crunchy texture. It's so delicious that I could finish a whole bag with a cup of hot tea.
- Sesame Senbei: This rice cracker is made with domestic glutinous rice dough mixed with sesame seeds, creating a delightful flavor and aroma that is quite addictive.
- Chili Pepper Senbei: A soy sauce-flavored rice cracker sprinkled with red chili pepper and sansho pepper, offering a delicious combination of spiciness and fragrance.
- Soy Sauce Senbei: A crunchy rice cracker made with domestic glutinous rice, featuring a savory soy sauce flavor and a pleasant nuttiness.
The owner mentioned that they can't bake a lot at once due to the high temperature of around 50 degrees Celsius in the room. The rice crackers were delicious. Thank you for the wonderful meal. I will definitely come back.

Today, I visited this place. It is a renowned shop with a history of over a century, specializing in rice crackers. I went around 2:30 pm on a weekday and there were no other customers, so I was able to make a purchase quickly. They offer a variety of rice crackers, and I chose two types:
- Soy sauce rice cracker: 1 piece for 70 yen including tax. It has a plain flavor with a crispy texture and a strong soy sauce taste. A traditional rice cracker.
- Spicy chili rice cracker: 1 piece for 80 yen including tax. It is a soy sauce rice cracker with a hint of spiciness. It's not extremely hot like some rice crackers in tourist spots, but has a pleasant kick to it.
Overall, I enjoyed the historic rice crackers. Thank you for the meal.

I walked a little from Negishi and went to the main store of Kikumise Senbei in Sendagi. It is a specialty shop for senbei, which is becoming scarce in Tokyo. They sell various types of senbei. I bought soy sauce senbei and matcha senbei. Both soy sauce senbei and matcha senbei are square in shape. Soy sauce senbei is a traditional senbei flavored with soy sauce. Matcha senbei is baked with a sweet sauce on top of the senbei. Matcha senbei has a taste similar to potapota-yaki. Next time, I would like to try spicy senbei.

I had made plans to meet a friend at Ueno Station, but I arrived early so I decided to explore the Yanaka area. I was drawn by a pleasant smell and ended up at a rice cracker shop called "Kikumi Senbei Main Store". I found out that they have been in business since the Meiji era and have been making unique square-shaped rice crackers since their establishment. They also sell individual pieces, so I bought some "green tea rice crackers" and a souvenir pack of "14 assorted rice crackers (soy sauce, sweet, green tea)" for a total of ¥1,120. The green tea rice crackers were slightly sweet and perfect for tea time. They provided a paper bag when I made the purchase, which was very thoughtful as it prevented my hands from getting sticky. Apart from rice crackers, they also had rice crackers, rice crackers, and other snacks that I would love to try. Everything was very delicious. Thank you for the meal.

While passing by the festival at Negishi Shrine, I stopped by "Kikumisenbei Sohonten" on the way down Dangozaka. I bought the crispy seaweed-wrapped rice crackers, opting for the firmer texture. The flavor of the seaweed really stood out, and the crunchiness of the rice crackers was delicious. This long-established store is always bustling with customers, but the staff are friendly and willing to explain their products. Located at the intersection before climbing Misakizaka from Dangozaka, amidst the more traditional shops reminiscent of Yanaka-Senju, "Kikumisenbei Sohonten" stands out with its unique appearance and atmosphere.

A long-established senbei shop in the Yanaka, Nezu, and Sendagi area. I received some from a friend's shop again. The senbei is made with traditional care and is very good. The basic soy sauce flavor is excellent. When you eat it again, you can feel its goodness, and it's a taste that you won't get tired of even if you eat it again. It also looks good and seems to be a good choice for a souvenir. I thought I would like to purchase it again.

Arrived around 10:30 am on Thursday morning. The atmosphere of the building was very nice. There was no wait. I looked at the menu and saw that rice crackers were 70 yen! I ordered to eat in, and they said it would be 70 yen. I sat down and enjoyed the delicious snack. I will definitely stop by again when I pass by. Thank you for the meal!

This shop exudes a sense of history from its building. It is highly regarded not only in Tokyo but nationwide for its rice crackers. I have always passed by it on my way to Himitudo, but I have never bought anything. This time, I bought three pieces each of shichimi, soy sauce, and sesame flavors. The texture is excellent. I also liked the strong taste of soy sauce and shichimi. Truly, long-established shops are amazing. From now on, I will enjoy them together with Himitudo.

I visited the long-established traditional Japanese confectionery and sweet shop "Kikumi Senbei Main Store," which has been in business since 1875, located a 2-minute walk from Sendagi Station. I arrived around 1 pm on a weekday and there was no wait, so I was able to enter the shop smoothly. I purchased soy sauce senbei for 70 yen. Since there is no eating-in option, I enjoyed it at home. It had been a while since I last had traditional senbei, and this soy sauce senbei had a wonderful soy sauce aroma and a crispy texture, which was delicious. The saltiness was just right. I enjoyed it until the last bite.

Visited after having taiyaki. There was a certain katsudon restaurant that I had been curious about right in front of it. It is a senbei shop founded in 1875, a long-established store. When I arrived at the shop, I saw many foreign tourists, not sure if they were on a tour or something, but it seems like overseas visitors are interested in this kind of snack. There are several types of senbei available, sold by piece. This time, I chose the green tea senbei that caught my eye. I bought it with the intention of taking it home, but it looked so delicious that I decided to eat it on the spot.
Purchased item:
- Green Tea Senbei 80 yen
An affordable single-serving size. It has a gentle sweetness and a crispy texture! Simple but different from what I usually eat. The base senbei is quite tasty. The green tea aroma was very subtle, but it balanced well. I feel like I could eat this senbei endlessly. I don't usually like senbei, but I would like to buy it here again. I hope they continue to thrive for a long time. Thank you for the meal!

Traditional Japanese confectionery and sweets shop, renowned for their rice crackers. Established in the 8th year of the Meiji era, almost reaching 150 years of history. When searching for rice crackers on Tabelog, they are ranked 3rd nationwide, and are the top-ranked shop specializing in rice crackers. On a Sunday, I passed by their quaint storefront on a street just off of Shinobazu Street, with almost no wait as the owner was attending to a customer. I purchased their square soy sauce rice crackers and green tea rice crackers for 150 yen. Their signature rice crackers, known as "Tene Undofang" (heaven is round, earth is square), have been shaped in a rare square form since their founding, to be loved by the people on earth. The popular soy sauce rice crackers have a light and not too hard texture, standing out as a traditional Japanese sweet. The taste carries the history of being loved by famous literary figures like Mori Ogai. A truly delightful experience.

[First Visit on September 7, 2023] From the elevator exit at Sendagi Station, I headed towards Nezu and arrived at the "Dangozaka" intersection. Crossing the "Shinobazu Street" and turning onto "Dangozaka Shimoyanagi Street", a shop appeared on the left. I had taken a day off to visit two hospitals, but both had minimal wait times due to prior reservations, leaving me with plenty of free time. So, I decided to make the most of it by going on a tour of Japanese and Western sweets shops. The first shop I visited was this one. I arrived around 11:15 am. They had unique square senbei (rice crackers) on display, with about five different varieties. Each was individually packaged, so I decided to buy one of each. The expiration date for all of them was one month. 1. Soy Sauce Senbei: The base senbei for the other products. It had a moderate hardness and density, with a mild soy sauce flavor. Quite light overall. 2. Sweet Senbei: A sugar-coated version of the base senbei. It had a crispy texture due to the sugar coating, but the sweetness was subtle. 3. Matcha Senbei: Strong matcha aroma, with a sweet taste from added sugar. Similar in structure to the sweet senbei. 4. Spicy Senbei: A soy sauce-based senbei with added chili pepper. It had a noticeably spicier flavor, but not overwhelming. 5. Sesame Senbei: The most delicious senbei of the bunch, with a strong sesame flavor and a good balance of soy sauce. Overall, a light yet flavorful snack. This shop had the highest rating for senbei on Tabelog during my visit, but as someone who doesn't eat senbei often, I couldn't discern the differences. The senbei were not too hard, heavy, or overly flavored, making them generally appealing. Thank you for the meal.

I think I've been coming here and eating since I was little. As the surrounding environment has become more and more filled with buildings, this shop has become more noticeable. I decided to try it again after a long time. I ordered three pieces: soy sauce, matcha, and sweet flavors. They are all the same senbei but with different seasonings, each with a nostalgic and deep flavor.

I visited the "Kikumise Senbei Main Store" located in the nostalgic town of Sendagi. This store was selected as one of the top 100 sweet shops in Tokyo by the Foodlog in 2023. Established in 1875, this is a long-established store. It is conveniently located just a minute's walk from Exit 1 of Sendagi Station on the Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line. The store faces the road leading from the station and is complemented by willow trees lining the street, creating a picturesque setting. The interior of the store features a wooden showcase that appears to have been used since the early days. The pillars, wall clock, and photographs exude a sense of history and grandeur. Today, I tried the following menu items:
- Soy Sauce Senbei: A popular senbei made with domestically produced glutinous rice, offering a firm texture and a delicious soy sauce flavor.
- Sweet Senbei: A sweet and salty senbei with soy sauce base and sugar coating.
- Matcha Senbei: A senbei with soy sauce base topped with Uji matcha-infused sugar, offering a subtle matcha flavor.
- Spicy Senbei: A soy sauce senbei sprinkled with ichimi togarashi (red chili pepper) and sansho (Japanese pepper), providing a spicy kick.
- Sesame Senbei: A senbei with sesame seeds kneaded into the dough, offering a distinct sesame flavor. The rice used in the senbei is domestically sourced, and the soy sauce is procured from a traditional soy sauce company in Chiba Prefecture. I look forward to revisiting this store in the future. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I visited Kikumise Senbei Main Store after stopping by at Ginza Yuzuki. This shop has a long history and is known for being frequented by famous writers like Mori Ogai and Takamura Kotaro. The area around here has many traditional shops like this one, which adds to the charm of the place. I bought one piece each of Edo Nishiki (soft type) and hand-baked senbei, including soy sauce, chili pepper, and sweet flavors (each piece costs around ¥70-¥80). The Edo Nishiki seaweed roll, although described as soft, was actually crispy and delicious. The hand-baked senbei were all flavorful and crispy, with options of soy sauce, chili pepper, and sweet flavors. I personally prefer sweet snacks like Zaramese senbei, but the classic soy sauce senbei was my favorite. If you happen to pass by, I highly recommend this shop! Thank you for the delicious treats!

I am looking for gourmet takeout options to boost my motivation for jogging. Jogging distance to destination: 6km Visit time: 11:30 am Number of people in line: 1 Waiting time: 0 minutes Today is extremely hot, over 35°C. I feel like I'm being beaten by the heat as I head towards my destination. I arrived while searching for shade. There were various rice crackers available, and I was happy to be able to purchase just one piece, such as soy sauce rice crackers. I was intrigued by the name and purchased a rare rice cracker for 640 yen, which, as indicated on the sign, had a sweet and salty taste similar to Happy Turn. The soy sauce rice cracker had a nostalgic, traditional taste. I am looking forward to trying the other rice crackers as well. Thank you for the delicious meal!

I happened to pass by and bought 2 pieces of soy sauce senbei for 70 yen each. I was feeling a little hungry, so it was a good time-waster. They were simply delicious. I'm thinking of going back for more, maybe trying a different type. Next time, I'll get some to take out and enjoy.
