I stopped by a chestnut sweets shop. I got the following items (excluding tax): - Chestnut Valcarol: 660 yen - Fig and Vanilla Confiture: 1050 yen - Matcha Chestnut Croissant: 700 yen I enjoyed them at home with red wine. The Chestnut Valcarol is large chestnuts from Naples, glazed with a soft and sweet syrup. Each chestnut gives a satisfying taste. The Confiture is made at Atelier Karuizawa, with 8 different flavors available. This one is made with black figs from Shibata, Niigata Prefecture, and vanilla beans. It can last for nearly 3 months, so I haven't tried it yet. The Croissant is a limited edition item from Isetan, featuring matcha croissant filled with chestnut cream flavored with rum. Both the buttery moist dough and the chestnut cream are delicious. It will be available until October, so I might come back for more.

Visited the "Patisserie Sadaharu Aoki Paris Shinjuku Isetan Store" directly connected to Shinjuku Sanchome Station. The Marunouchi store is one of the top 100 sweets shops in 2019. I arrived on a Sunday after 12 o'clock and there was no line, so I decided to try it out. I ordered the Cannele Nature for 351 yen. For some reason, I had to wait about 10 minutes at the 4th counter to pay. The Cannele has a nice vanilla scent! The surface has a crispy texture, but the inside is chewy and moist, which was delicious. I enjoyed it until the last bite.

A friend brought me a souvenir! I had never tried it before because it was expensive, but when I tasted it, I understood why it's so popular... It was surprisingly delicious. Especially the matcha cake. It was a deliciousness I had never experienced before. While I wasn't as impressed by the baked goods and jams I had tried in the past, the cake was in a league of its own.

This is an incredibly delicious restaurant!! The flavors are very complex and you will definitely be satisfied. However, it is a bit expensive. It may not be something you can afford to eat frequently, but it's great for an occasional treat. It's really delicious, so please try it at least once!

I bought a canelé as a treat for myself. I only bought one, but the customer service was very attentive and I was happy! The canelé had a crispy outer layer and a moist inside. It's not very big, but I enjoyed it slowly and it was delicious.

I also got matcha and some baked goods. - Sakura Eclair 570 yen (excluding tax) - Matcha Eclair 570 yen - Mont Blanc 490 yen The Sakura Eclair has a pastry cream mixed with sakura powder, giving it a cherry blossom flavor with a hint of salt that I really liked. The Matcha Eclair is a signature item at AOKI, with a rich matcha cream. I've had it before, so my daughter tried it this time. The Mont Blanc was a bit pricey, but it had a strong alcohol flavor and was delicious, with an adult taste and moist texture. In the event "7 Days Buried in Sweets," Chef Aoki also collaborated with Izumiya to create a cake with buttercream that looked delicious.

The shop Sadaharu Aoki in Isetan Shinjuku always seems to be crowded, offering a wide range of sweets from traditional Japanese to Western-style pastries. I purchased the limited edition Tart Frais Citron on this day. It was a lemon tart with a sweet and sour strawberry and white chocolate cream. The strawberry was pleasantly tangy, and the smooth and mellow sweetness of the white chocolate cream harmonized well with the strawberry's tartness. Overall, it was a simple yet elegant cake and very delicious.

French patisserie renowned overseas, including winning the Best Pastry Chef Award in France! The shop is operated by SAJ Co., led by Mr. Sadaharu Aoki. Mr. Aoki went to France in 1989 to train in patisseries and restaurants, winning the taste category of the Charles Blouet Competition in 1995. Three years later, in 1998, he opened his own shop. Despite facing difficulties in obtaining permission to open the shop, Mr. Aoki represented France in pastry events abroad twice. He was able to open the shop with the support of a prominent figure in the French pastry industry, Madame Peltier, who vouched for his skills. Since then, Mr. Aoki has achieved remarkable success, including winning the Best Pastry Chef Award in France. Most likely, I think most people have heard of this shop, whether or not they have bought anything there, especially if they like sweets. To the average person, it might be familiar. Those who are a bit more knowledgeable would know it. Now, I bought some baked sweets as a souvenir and also got some for myself. The chestnut flavor is nice. The dough crumbled a bit, maybe because of me putting it in my bag, but the moment I opened it, I could smell the rum. It's not chestnut, but a Japanese confectionery style, which is nice. The sweetness is just right. The chestnut part is moist and oh, it's delicious. As for sweets lovers, places like Oyamadai and Jiyugaoka are like a separate category. If you mention Ryoko or Ucchi, people might think, "Oh, you know a lot!" When it comes to chocolates, mentioning Bernard Cassion would elicit a similar reaction, while mentioning Mori Yoshida might make people think, "Oh, you're a regular." And if you bring up David Capy or Lillian, people might wonder, "Are they rivals?" (Note: This is just the biased opinion of Hanadan.)

It's always crowded here. I arrived close to closing time, but there were still quite a few cakes left, so I decided to purchase some. The strawberry cake had a refreshing taste with strawberries as the main focus. It was a bit pricey, but delicious. The lemon tart, on the other hand, was just average. This is a store of Sadaharu Aoki located in Shinjuku Isetan. A well-known Western confectionery store that needs no introduction. I quite like Sadaharu Aoki's sweets, so I occasionally visit here. On this day, I was in the basement of Shinjuku Isetan on a weekday night, so I decided to buy some snacks. I bought Florentine, chocolate pound cake, fruit cake pound cake, and fondant au chocolat. The Florentine has a crumbly bottom crust, which is a type I prefer a little firmer. The taste is delicious though. The fondant au chocolat is in the shape of a madeleine and is overall moist. It's not as intense as the name suggests, more on the fluffy side. I wonder if it would be even more delicious if warmed up? Both pound cakes are quite moist and juicy. They are like pound cakes soaked in syrup. It may be a bit of a surprise for those imagining a fluffy pound cake, but I like the juicy texture, so I found them delicious.

I was walking past a shop in Isetan Shinjuku B1 where colorful macarons and croissants were displayed beautifully, but for some reason, I was drawn to the canelés and stopped. I hesitated to buy just one, but then the staff said, "Feel free to buy just one!" so I decided to give it a try. ◆ Canelé Nature 324 yen I might like this canelé! It's a bit bigger in size. The top is crispy, and the texture inside is soft and moist. It's slightly pudding-like. Sometimes canelés can be bitter, but this one was not at all! This shop might be a hidden gem. This White Day limited edition product came in a box of 6 for 4,000 yen, which was quite luxurious. The decorations were beautiful, the flavors were rich, and each had a unique taste, providing a variety of options. I tried the matcha flavor, which was rich and delicious. One of the advantages of these macarons is that they can last for a while, which is appreciated.

I had been wanting to eat this for a long time, and my family bought it for me. The appearance alone lifted my mood. Each one had a nice level of sweetness without being too overpowering, and the sweetness didn't linger. They were all really delicious! I especially loved the chocolate one. It's a large canelé. The outside is crispy and the inside is soft. It seems to focus on expressing the deliciousness of the ingredients, as there isn't much taste or aroma of liquor. I probably won't visit again. Maybe I won't buy chocolate either... Canelé au Chocolat and Canelé Pistachio.
