In the downtown area of Nezu, Bunkyo Ward, I discovered a stylish French bakery and pastry shop and decided to visit. Just a 6-minute walk from Nezu Station on the Chiyoda Line (2 minutes from Nezu Shrine by Toei Bus), I found Les Initiés, a French-style bakery called Les Initiés. The shop is adorned in the colors of the French flag and exudes a chic atmosphere. Despite its small size, the showcase is filled with delicious bread, pastries, and sweets that are sure to entice you with their fragrant aroma. This French-style bakery in the downtown area of Tokyo's Nezu neighborhood offers a variety of French pastries and bread that are rich in flavor and texture. I tried their Baguette Tradition, Croissant, Praline Rose, Brioche, Tartine Ficelle, and Apero, all of which were delicious and full of flavor. If you're looking to experience the authentic taste of France, be sure to visit this bakery. Closed on Mondays (may vary), open from 10 am to 6 pm. Address: 2-32-5 Nezu, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo 113-0031.

Today, I visited a popular bakery in Nezu. It was just past 5 pm on a weekday, and I was worried they might be sold out, but luckily they still had some left. They specialize in French-style bread, and this time I bought the following: - Today's Tartine 380 yen/tax included A baguette made with 100% French wheat, topped with cheese-coated onion slices, ham, and almonds. The baguette had a chewy texture and a good bite. You could really taste the pure aroma and sweetness of the wheat. The seasoning was simple, with olive oil, salt, pepper, and the saltiness of the cheese. It was good in the sense that you could taste the flavors of the ingredients, but some may find it lacking in flavor. I felt like it needed a more distinct ingredient, like pancetta or bacon instead of ham. Overall, it was a pleasant meal. I'll make sure to visit earlier next time to try more items. *Visit Rating: 3.61

Visited two bakeries in Negishi: ■ Baguette Half 190 yen ■ Praline Rose 350 yen ■ Tart Orange 600 yen ■ Sabre Citron 170 yen ■ Sabre Speculos 150 yen. The baguette was not particularly impressive during the French exhibition, but it was still delicious. We enjoyed it with olive oil. The sablé cookies in the big jar were also delicious. Looking forward to trying their cakes next time.

I had the opportunity to visit the area around Togane-sen and also stopped by this restaurant that I had been curious about. I heard that the baker, who is a Maison Kayser alumnus, was the first Asian to win the Baguette Competition in France. I was looking forward to it. On this day, I purchased the "Pain Complet" for 370 yen (tax included). It had a very fragrant and sweet aroma, with a chewy crust and moist inside with large bubbles. The bread was baked in a small size, giving it a semi-hard texture. The taste was characterized by a natural whole wheat flavor and a gentle sweetness. I had some preconceptions due to Maison Kayser's reputation, but when I actually tried it, it was much more delicious than I had expected, and it made me very happy. Next time, I definitely want to make this place my destination and head to this area.

At the Henri Breton in Ikejiri Ohashi, there was a wine event where the owner of the bakery, who is also a wine importer, Mr. Ida, provided wine commentary. He also offered some bread for pairing with the wine, and I ended up buying some to take home. I tried the Baguette, Croissant Onion Gruyere, Fougasse, Olive Bread, and Chorizo Tomato Bread. The Olive and Chorizo bread was perfect with the wine. My daughter, who loves croissants, was also impressed. The Baguette was moist and delicious. I don't usually go to Nezu, so it was a great feeling to find such delicious bread without having to travel far.

It seems like the restaurant was produced by someone who trained at places like Viron. They have experience winning a baguette competition as well. I purchased a Jambon-Beurre sandwich for around 550 yen. It's a simple combination of ham and butter in a baguette, which is common in France. I enjoyed it quite a bit. If you're nearby, it's worth a visit.

I was drawn to a red sign placed on the street and decided to stop by. It was a compact shop, and I had a feeling that the hard breads would be delicious! - Half Baguette 190 yen - Alatomato 360 yen - Aperitif Chorizo 390 yen (tax included) The baguette was delicious! My favorite was the Chorizo bread. The deliciousness of the dough and the spiciness of the Chorizo complement each other. I heard that they only have Alatomato on weekends, so I couldn't resist buying it. I would love to visit again when I'm in Nekozu.

Visit Difficulty: ★★☆☆☆ "Camembert Plum" (680 yen) - Recommended Points: - For those who love bread - For those looking for a shop in the Nezu to Nippori area where you can take out During a stroll in Nezu, I stumbled upon a bakery with a red sign that stands out. It is said that they operate with the aim of conveying French food culture and spirit. Nezu is home to many small and stylish shops, and this bakery is no exception. They offer a variety of bread such as whole grain mountain bread and herb-infused side dish bread, making you want to visit every day. The baker, Mei Narusawa, won the first place in the 2017 "National Baguette Tradition Contest" as the first Asian woman, which is quite impressive! They open at 10 am, but the bread is usually fully baked and ready by around 11 am (especially the sandwiches). I remembered this place while watching "Matsuko's Unknown World" where French bread was the theme. Right after leaving the shop, you'll want to enjoy the "Camembert Plum" under the pleasant breeze of the trees. The outer crust makes you want to take a big bite, while the inside is a fluffy baguette with the aroma of wheat, filled with Camembert cheese and large plums. It's filling enough for a meal and perfect for lunch. Nezu to Nippori is a fierce battleground for bread and bagel shops known to those in the know. I only bought one this day as I had other plans, but I definitely want to go back again.

When I went from Negishi to Sendagi, one of the shops I wanted to visit was this one. The signature item is the baguette, and I was planning to revisit for the delicious canelé I had last time... but unfortunately, they are not making canelés at the moment. So, I decided to buy the following instead: - Baguette - Viennoiserie Chocolate - Bostock 250 - Brioche Chocolate 280 - Sablé 3 types (some prices forgotten, prices are in the photo) The baguette, made with a recipe that won first place in a French competition (for more details, check my previous post), was consistently delicious. The other items were not to my liking enough to want to buy them again. I don't eat a lot of Danish pastries, so I want to try that next time, and maybe also a cake. I had to lower my rating slightly this time because the canelé was not available, unlike last time. 3.62 out of 5 stars.

I heard that the canelé is delicious, so I visited "Le Grenier à Pain" in Nezu. It's a bakery, but it looks like an elegant cake shop. The interior of the store is also stylish like a fancy cake shop. The design of the French flag is also stylish. However, the products displayed are bread. There are many elegant breads displayed. Instead of picking up the bread with a tray and tongs, you have to ask the staff to get it for you from the glass case. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the canelé. When I asked the staff, they said they didn't have it today. Instead, I was recommended the "Fondant au Chocolat" for 371 yen, so I ordered that. I also chose the "Viennois au Chocolat" for 296 yen. In the end, I ended up with two chocolate items. The "Fondant au Chocolat" was recommended to be slightly warmed in the microwave before eating. When I did that, the chocolate inside melted and flowed out hot. It was delicious! It has a perfect level of sweetness, and it's amazing when eaten with black coffee! The "Viennois au Chocolat" was described as "a fluffy bread with plenty of chocolate chips, perfect for a snack." It was indeed soft and chewy with enjoyable chocolate chips. Just like the rumors, it was like a Western-style pastry in bread form! It seems like a good choice for a souvenir!

It was late afternoon on a holiday, so there were fewer items available. I got a hard bread with chocolate, hazelnuts, and dried fruits, along with a croissant for about 700 yen. The portions were generous, but the prices were a bit high. The croissant was dense with a strong dough flavor, crispy, fragrant, and delicious. The chocolate one had lots of ingredients, which was good, but all the flavors were quite strong. I preferred the croissant. ♡

One day, I visited a bakery called "LesInities" in the Nezu area because I wanted to buy some bread. The shop is located on Indigo Street between Nezu Station and Sendagi Station, across from Nezu Shrine on Funenshi Street. It gives off a French bakery vibe in the downtown area. The interior of the shop is small, with space for about 3-4 people. There are bread displayed in glass cases, baked goods in jars, and more baked goods on shelves near the entrance. When I visited, there were only a few types of bread left. I tried the croissant, which had a crispy texture and a buttery aroma. It was made with French fermented butter, giving it a moist and slightly sweet inside. I also tried the "Pain Complet," a whole wheat bread that was easy to eat with a chewy texture and a nice grain flavor. It paired perfectly with butter. I also tried the "Sable Citron" and "Speculoos," which had a lemony freshness and a hint of spice, respectively. The Pain Complet was especially delicious. I didn't check beforehand, but I found out that the baguette at this bakery was supervised by a person who won a competition in France. I definitely want to try the baguette next time.

Visit: Sunday 14:00. Approximately 1 minute wait per group. Located in the residential area of Nezu, this bakery is a genuine French bakery that is particular about its ingredients. You can tell it's a good shop from the storefront and the moment you step inside. Everything you try is delicious, but the baguette, which won an award at a French competition, is a masterpiece that you'll want to eat every day. Baguette Tradition, Half Brioche, Chocolate Pavé, Dan Tan Onion, Gruyère.

I visited several bakeries in the Nezu area to buy bread to go with my home Christmas dishes, but by the time I arrived in the afternoon, the popular bakeries were already sold out of the bread I wanted or had long lines. So, I ended up here, but they were also almost out of bread... I ended up getting the "Today's Tartine" and a Viennoiserie. The Today's Tartine had ham and onions, while the Viennoiserie is a type of bread that is said to be the precursor to French bread. I lightly reheated them at night, but the Tartine was very hard!! The ham was tasty though. On the other hand, the Viennoiserie had a fluffy texture and a sweet milky taste with a shiny surface that made it look delicious even before eating it. I would like to revisit when there is more bread available. Thank you for the meal~

For dinner, I was looking for some carbs and decided to buy bread on my way home. I wandered around the Nezu area but couldn't find a suitable shop. It was also close to Christmas, so by the afternoon, there were fewer options for bread. Finally, I found a place where I managed to get a French bread-like loaf and a ham and onion sandwich. I had it for dinner, and even though the bread was quite firm from the start, it didn't get any harder over time. Maybe if I chewed it well, the flavor of the bread would have come out more, but I tend to swallow quickly, so I might not have fully appreciated the goodness of the bread.

The three items purchased were a baguette, a brioche half, and lemon cream & hazelnut, I think. If you like fine-textured bread, then it's good. Personally, I think the baguette is the highlight. It lacks aroma and flavor, and is quite bland despite its crispy texture. The brioche half seems to cater to a wider audience, which is disappointing. The lemon cream is extremely ordinary. Each item costs around 350 yen, which is a bit expensive. Overall, it's not worth the price and I won't be revisiting.

The lemon butter sandwich on soft and fine-textured bread with lemon cream and chunks of hazelnuts. I wished there was more lemon flavor. All the bread looks delicious. The overall atmosphere of the shop is feminine and gentle, and the taste of the bread is delicate.

Reginissier is a bakery and pastry shop located on Nezu Aizome Dori. The French flag at the entrance is a landmark. Their top recommendation is the signature product, Baguette Tradition. It has a fragrant aroma of wheat flour, with a crispy exterior and a soft, chewy interior that reveals a hint of sweetness when bitten into. I always buy a cut piece about 2.5 cm in size, and once I start eating it, I can't stop because it's so delicious. Another favorite is the Praline Rose, also a signature item. It's a bread with almonds caramelized in a rose-colored syrup, offering a crispy texture. Other items I occasionally purchase include: Canele de Bordeaux, with a crispy exterior and a moist, chewy interior; Croissant, with a generous size and a nice buttery aroma, light and crispy; Banana Tart, with almond cream and a prominent banana flavor; Lemon Butter Sandwich, with lemon cream and fragrant hazelnuts sandwiched inside. I look forward to trying the Galette des Rois when it's displayed in the store for the season (New Year?). I will continue to visit this place.

It seems they have won a competition for French bread. All the bread has a delicious aroma of flour. There are many pastries, all of them are attractive. The Lemon Butter Sandwich has a moist and chewy fragrant dough, and the acidity of the lemon butter cream and nuts are perfectly matched, making it very delicious. Lemon Butter Sandwich: 370 yen, Croissant

I thought the shop across the street was selling cream puffs, but it was closed, so I came here instead. I also planned to visit here later. I bought a lemon spread and pistachio sandwich to go. The cream puffs were delicious as always. I will definitely come back. Thank you for the meal.
