In October 2022, during a sweets and bread tasting trip in Tokyo, I visited "eteco bread" in Ikejiri after purchasing bread at "Le Ressort" in Komaba Todai-mae. The bakery was small and only allowed 2 groups inside at a time, so I waited for about 15 minutes. Inside, there were various delicious-looking breads to choose from, and I ended up buying 3 items: haricot rouge (red bean bun) for 360 yen, figue for 420 yen, and Tartine legume for 800 yen. For lunch, I had the vegetable tart and red bean bun outside. The Tartine legume was packed with various vegetables like cauliflower, lotus root, bamboo shoots, bell peppers, pumpkin, okra, greens, shishito peppers, sweet potatoes, mini carrots, zucchini, green beans, eggplant, pumpkin seeds, fennel, seasoned with salt, pepper, cheese, and olive oil. It was a generous portion and each bite had a different flavor, making it a satisfying meal. The red bean bun had a similar shape to a maritozzo with a rich buttery flavor and a soft texture, complemented by walnuts. The figue bread, enjoyed later in Osaka, had figs simmered in red wine and cream cheese inside. The bread itself had a delightful texture, with bits of fig incorporated into the dough. Overall, all the breads were delicious and satisfying. Thank you for the meal!
