My dream is to travel around the world visiting bakeries and sharing with everyone the deliciousness of bread from each country. I am still a novice (pre-fermentation stage) but I want to dedicate my life to bread and expand greatly! My target is mango! The deliciousness that will make you fall into the swamp! The details of the store are listed below. Located about a minute walk from Kachidoki Station in Tokyo, this bakery is so popular that you might think people are lining up like in Kanto. It is run by the warm couple, Kobata. For bagel lovers, this is a highly recommended shop. Kobata, who has encountered various bagels in the home of bagels and trained at a bagel specialty shop in Tokyo, makes amazing bagels. Save for later: On holidays, when it's sunny, about 2 hours before opening, there was no one there. Then at 6:10, one person arrived. At 6:15, two people arrived. At 6:40, two people arrived. After that, at 7:50, a line had formed up to the first intersection. There were quite a few men as well. It's necessary to bring a parasol because the sunlight hits the road! Drinks such as coffee are also available for purchase! Snacks are also available for sale! Cheesecakes were being sold! Cream cheese with white bean paste was also being sold! Mango is available for sale until mid-July. They accept credit cards. Notice from Tanuki: Temporary closure on Wednesdays, Time change: Sundays: 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Summer break: From Monday, July to late July. Check it out and you'll have fun: The smiles of the Kobata couple! There is also nice music playing, and there are plates displayed on top. I didn't notice it before because I was always focused on the bagels (laughs). White bean paste cream and mango for ¥640 - The cranberry or rice flour bagel with mango is a chewy type that feels tight. When you eat it, you'll feel like you've come to Tanuki. The crunchy cranberry's fruity taste comes through, and the large pecans in it are crunchy. The mango is super ripe and juicy, making your mouth feel like it's in a perpetual summer beach baby state. It's sweet, juicy, and delicious. The creamy white bean paste around it is extremely tasty. Pumpkin and sweet bean paste for ¥450 - Only rice flour. I love the chewiness of rice flour. When you bite into it, you can taste the saltiness, which enhances the sweetness of the pumpkin and sweet bean paste. The tartness of the cranberries is an accent that makes it refreshing and delicious. Corn white bean paste cream for ¥500 - Only rice flour. Rice flour is the same as above. The corn filling inside is really sweet, almost like it's been concentrated. It's crisp and goes perfectly with the white bean paste cream. I'm glad they were still selling it. Matcha white bean paste cream for ¥520 - With cinnamon or rice flour. Matcha and cinnamon go well together! The cinnamon scent is light and the sweetness of the raisins is present. The matcha white bean paste is sticky and has a bittersweet taste with sweetness. TOFU CC Hojicha & Strawberry White Chocolate Cashew for ¥420 - Whole wheat flour or blueberry. The strawberry white chocolate is refreshing and fruity, and the cashews are crispy. The hojicha tastes just like hojicha and is delicious. The whole wheat flour dough is dense and I like the crumbly texture. It's mouth-watering~ Store information: Official website: @ Address: Kachidoki, Chuo-ku, Tokyo -- Toshinoso Closed on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Business hours: 7:30 AM until sold out.

Gourmet friends recommended this bagel shop to me a few years ago, and I've been a fan ever since. It's extremely popular with long lines, and they only open a few days a week (you have to check their Instagram for updates). So it's quite a challenge to visit. But luckily, my friend bought some bagels for me again today. It's such a joy to enjoy Tanuki-san's bagels without having to wait in line each time. Today, I tried two types of rice flour bagels. The matcha white bean cream bagel is just amazing. The texture of Tanuki-san's rice flour bagels is unmatched! No other bagel can compare. And the matcha white bean cream adds a surprising twist. The combination of cream cheese, white bean paste, and strong matcha bitterness creates a complex and refreshing taste. The second bagel with homemade red bean paste and butter is also delicious. The red bean paste made with high-quality beans from Hyogo is cooked perfectly. It pairs so well with the soft bagel. The butter is smooth and subtly salty. Even though it's generously spread, it still feels light. I couldn't stop eating it. Whenever I crave a bagel, I always think of Tanuki-san. Their bagels are perfect whether eaten fresh or chilled. Last time, I tried their egg sandwich, which was also delicious. The seasoning of the egg filling was so good that I now try to recreate it at home. Every bagel from Tanuki-san not only looks amazing when sliced open but also tastes incredibly delicious!

On weekdays, around 8:31, there were about 15 groups waiting for about 80 minutes. The ham and gouda bagel costs 430 yen including tax. I felt that the saltiness of the ham was quite strong. However, when combined with the freshness and bitterness of the vegetables, and the sweetness of the bagel dough, there is a sense of unity that is pleasant to eat. It seems that all the balances are carefully calculated, so this might be the type that you gradually get hooked on...! Tofu cream cheese on whole wheat bagel costs 450 yen. Thaw in the freezer, then in the refrigerator, brush water on the surface of the bagel and microwave at 200W for 2 minutes. The bagel is dense, with a slightly crunchy texture in some places that seems like whole wheat. The tofu cream cheese does have a hint of tofu flavor in the background. The sweetness is quite subtle. Anko butter bagel costs 450 yen. Thaw in the freezer, then in the refrigerator, brush water on the surface of the bagel and microwave at 200W for 2 minutes. The chewiness has been revived! The anko has a gentle sweetness that enhances the umami of the ingredients. The butter is unsalted and adds richness. Pumpkin and anko bagel costs 530 yen. I was surprised by the initial acidity! The crunchy texture made me think there was apple hidden among the pumpkin. When you chew and mix everything in your mouth, the umami spreads wonderfully! The variety of textures is great. Matcha white anko bagel costs 550 yen. I was impressed by the taste and texture as I imagined! The matcha white anko is thick and rich, with sweetness and a hint of bitterness afterwards. The rice flour bagel is chewy and delicious with each bite releasing more umami. I loved the sticky texture of the matcha white anko so much that I wished I had bought another one.

A friend wanted to visit this place after seeing it on Instagram, so I decided to check it out. The restaurant only operates on certain days and has a long line when I arrived at 10 am. After waiting for over an hour in 35°C heat, I finally got inside to find that most items were already sold out. The taste was just average, nothing special. The cream and raisins were good, but not outstanding. Despite the polite staff apologizing for the wait, the operation seemed poorly managed. With only one person taking orders, packing, and handling payments, the process was slow. If they had one more staff member, the wait time could have been reduced significantly. It seems like the unexpected popularity from social media has caused this overcrowding. I live nearby, but another couple in line had come from far away after seeing the place online. If there's no line, I might consider going back, but waiting for more than 10 minutes is not worth it for me.

Bagel specialty shop in Kachidoki. I went there with high expectations based on the information that they are only open on Thursdays and Sundays from 7 am, and by around 11 am, they are almost sold out. I arrived at the shop at 6:40 am and there were already 16 people in line. I waited for an hour, but the sold-out items were still available, and I was able to choose from a variety of options. Bagel sandwiches: Ikura and egg for 600 yen, mango and white bean cream for 720 yen, matcha white bean cream for 550 yen, homemade red bean butter for 410 yen, honey butter for 380 yen, normal bagels: blueberry for 320 yen, rice flour for 320 yen, cream cheese (forgot the price). I decided to have a bagel sandwich for breakfast at a nearby park. I took a bite of the Ikura and egg bagel sandwich and found it hard to chew and swallow. I wrapped the bagel back up and went home feeling disappointed. Once back home, I toasted the rice flour bagel, added cream cheese, and made my own bagel sandwich, which was delicious and chewy. The honey butter was also tasty, but the bagel was too hard. The fillings were unique and varied, but I would prefer them in regular bread. I had high expectations, but I was not satisfied and did not feel happy, so unfortunately, I won't be going back. However, I am grateful that they encouraged me to start my day early at 10 am. I still don't understand why it's so popular and why everyone is lining up, making me feel like I'm eating the bagel wrong.

I love bread, but for some reason I hadn't really tried bagels before. However, I randomly bought a bagel at the supermarket and it was a hit! Then I discovered a popular bagel shop nearby that I had never noticed before! I decided to stop by on my way home in the evening, thinking it would be like a regular bakery, but I couldn't find it and was confused. After looking it up, I found out they only open on Thursdays and Sundays, and they sell out by lunchtime because they are so popular! I planned to go the next Thursday, but I couldn't make it for the 7 am opening time. Then, around 11 am, I saw on Instagram that the line had died down. I hurried there and arrived around 11:30, but it was already too late. There was still a line. I tried to wait in line for a moment, but the strong sunlight made me give up. The following week, I decided to go early in the morning, so I arrived at 6:45 am. There were still 14.5 people in line, but after waiting for about an hour, I finally got my hands on the bagels! However, maybe I had built up my expectations too much? Was it too early for a bagel beginner like me? The way to eat them is different? I had heard that the rice flour bagels were popular, and that seemed to be true. The other varieties were quite hard and, no matter how I tried to bake or warm them up, they still didn't quite hit the spot. But one thing is for sure, the cross-section was beautiful and Instagram-worthy! You can definitely feel the attention to detail! (I feel a bit guilty for not fully appreciating them...) Since they are so popular, I guess everyone has their own preferences! I'm glad I made the effort to try them out since I was curious.

The bagels here are incredibly delicious, able to rival Maruichi Bagel in Shirokanedai. Every menu item is so enticing that I find myself buying in bulk every time I visit. If you're unsure, I recommend choosing the apple cinnamon or seasonal vegetable bagel as they are both delicious.

There is a popular bagel shop near my home that is always crowded. It opens at 7 am, but even before that, there is a long line. I remember waiting for 2 and a half hours after lining up at 8 am, so I now go after 10 am when it's less busy. I can usually buy within 30 minutes. They have a variety of options that don't run out, so I recommend going at that time. My favorite is the matcha white bean cream rice flour bagel. It's chewy and has a nice matcha aroma. I don't like the harder ones besides the rice flour because they are too hard for me, but I buy them because they look good. It's clear that the operation here is poorly managed since there is always a line. I always think they should distribute menus. Also, I wish they would separate tourists from locals...

I heard good reviews and decided to buy bagels after a long time. To my surprise, there was a long line just like the reviews said. I went around 11 o'clock and waited for over 30 minutes, but they were already sold out of the ones I wanted. The bagels I got were the Prosciutto and Anchovy (Squid Ink Bagel) and the Pineapple White Bean (Berry Bagel), both were chewy and dense. The Squid Ink one was more on the firm side than chewy at first, making me think it was a bit too hard... but as I chewed, I started to taste the sweetness of the dough and strangely enough, it became addictive and I finished it. The Pineapple one had chunky pineapple pieces and was different from the Japanese-style flavors I imagined, but I was happy with the generous amount of white bean filling.

On a regular day, I thought it wouldn't be that crowded, so I went at 7 am on Thursday, but there was already a line stretching to the corner... I underestimated it... After waiting for an hour, I finally entered the store... only to realize that I still had a little more to go... Another 30 minutes later, I was finally inside the shop. The interior was about the size of a four and a half tatami mat room, and it seemed that only two groups could enter at a time. The shop owner, I assume, takes orders, handles payments, and packs the items alone. There were many types of bagels with different dough options, which seemed to take some time. Despite that, each group was greeted individually, and I could tell that the customers were valued. There were various options, and I had a hard time choosing, but I ended up getting the white bean pineapple and ham gouda, and matcha white bean flavors. The bagel dough made with rice flour was chewy and satisfying. The standout was the delicious white bean cream, which was not too sweet and allowed the flavors of pineapple and matcha to shine through. I wish I could buy them more quickly, though... 1.5 hours is a bit much... I want to try the white bean cream again and other flavors, but it's a dilemma. Thank you for the meal!

I had been curious about this bagel shop with long lines since before. They are only open on Thursdays and Sundays. I once had to give up due to the line, but this time I made my second attempt. I arrived around 10 AM on Sunday and finally got in after a 30-minute wait! I tried these three types of bagels: Pimento, Pumpkin with Prosciutto and Tuna Potato, and Prosciutto with Anchovy. They were all really delicious! They were packed full of ingredients and gave a strong sense of satisfaction. Personally, I loved the Pimento the most! The combination of cheddar cheese and paprika was just perfect. I can't go there often because they are only open twice a week and always have long lines, but next time I definitely want to try a sweet one!

Located a 3-minute walk from Exit A3a of Kachidoki Station on the Toei Oedo Line, this hair salon is situated along a narrow path to the left of the beauty salon, with no signboard and closed curtains on the window, making it easy to get lost on your first visit. The shop can be hard to find when there are no people lining up. It is a take-out only store with a wide variety of colorful bagel sandwiches displayed in the showcase. The bagels have a unique chewy and elastic texture, with a good bite, and are easy to cut. Despite being palm-sized, they have a substantial weight and one is satisfying enough. Matcha White Bean Cream (550 yen) has a genuine matcha flavor with a hint of bitterness. The gentle sweetness of white bean spreads between the rich matcha. Mascarpone cream and Amaou strawberries (670 yen) are made with a cream mixture of white bean and mascarpone sandwiched between bagel dough with strawberries. The subtle sweetness and milky taste of mascarpone can be eaten endlessly. The strawberries are sweet and sour, making them a perfect match for mascarpone.

I visited the store around 10 o'clock on Thursday. There were about 10 groups of customers in line, and I was able to enter the store in about 40 minutes. The showcase displayed a variety of bagel sandwiches, several types of cakes, and cream cheese. Since the sandwiches had to be consumed on the same day, it was difficult to choose the right amount. This time, I purchased a King Salmon and Vegetable bagel sandwich, as well as a cup each of White Bean Mascarpone Cheese with Cranberry and Macadamia Nut Tofu Cream Cheese (each around 450 yen). The bagel sandwich weighed 165 grams including the paper and wrap. The everything bagel had several spices on top, and even through the packaging, you could smell the garlic. It was filled with lettuce, red onion, tomato, cheese, and salmon. The dough was dense, making it difficult to cut with a knife, but when you bite into it, it is crispy and chewy without being too tough. The spices were just right. The salmon and vegetables were not heavily seasoned, but when eaten together with the dough and cheese, it had the perfect amount of saltiness. Delicious. Even one piece was satisfying to chew, and at around 600 yen, it was worth the price. The Tofu Cream Cheese had plenty of cranberries, making it sweet and almost like a dessert. The texture was slightly grainy with a hint of cream cheese, but not cheesy, and the scent of tofu lingered in your nose. The flavor was mainly berry with no tofu taste. It was refreshing and seemed good for your body. The White Bean Mascarpone had a heavy texture with a sweet mascarpone taste, which was quite intriguing. It was a stark contrast to the Tofu Cream Cheese, being a rich sweet treat. This one would go well with bagels or untoasted bread. Despite their appearance, both sandwiches were generous at around 110 grams each, allowing for a variety of flavors. I'm curious about the amount, ingredients, and dough used by the shop. The only downside was the line, but I'm interested in both savory and sweet flavors. When I passed by again before noon, there were only 3 groups waiting, and it seemed like they were able to make a purchase. I'll visit again at the right time. Thank you for the meal.

It's been a while since I visited Tanuki-san. In the past, you could easily buy their bagels without waiting in line, but now it's one of the top queue-worthy spots in Tokyo with a two-hour wait being the norm. Apparently, it's become a huge hit on Chinese social media, and it's very popular. They started selling sweets in addition to bagels, so this was my first visit. ❥❥❥ White Bean Cream and Strawberry ❥❥❥ I chose between two types of strawberries, Fukuoka-grown "Amaou" or "Mitsunoka." "Amaou" is sweet and a favorite variety on its own, but when combined with white bean paste, the slightly tart "Mitsunoka" has a more balanced flavor that I prefer. ⋆❥❥❥ Ham and Gouda ❥❥❥ A classic combination, but the arugula is delicious. This arugula would also be tasty in a salad with olive oil and salt. ⋆❥❥❥ NZ King Salmon and Seasonal Vegetables ❥❥❥ I've been really into salmon bagels lately. Similar to Lox. Thick salmon, juicy tomatoes, and crispy lettuce. ⋆❥❥❥ Pumpkin and Red Bean Paste ❥❥❥ Tamba Dainagon from Hyogo Prefecture. A classic choice. A happiness that can be enjoyed even outside of autumn. ⋆❥❥❥ TOFU C.C. ❥❥❥ Earl Grey & Chocolate Chip and Blueberry half & half. Personally, I would have preferred to feel more of the Earl Grey flavor, so it might have been better without the chocolate chips. ⋆❥❥❥ Carrot Cake ❥❥❥ Moist and chewy. The overall spice level isn't strong, but there are some bold flavors here and there. Particularly, a relatively strong nutmeg flavor.

As a bagel enthusiast, I visited a shop that I wanted to check out. I arrived around 12:00 on a weekday and was the 6th in line to make a purchase. Unfortunately, the bagels were often sold out, so I couldn't get the salt bagel I wanted or the matcha white bean cream sandwich. I will have to come back next time. The roast chicken and tomato sandwich with purple onion sauce was deliciously refreshing. The strawberry white bean cream sandwich had just the right amount of cream and was very satisfying. I also want to try the rice flour bagel next time. I bought Everything, Cinnamon Raisin, and Cranberry Pecan Nut for the next morning. Personally, I prefer bagels that are not too sweet, so I'll aim for the salt bagel next time. I definitely want to have the bagel sandwich again!
