On New Year's Eve, I visited this shop to enjoy some delicious Japanese sake while watching the Kohaku singing contest and martial arts. The shop owner, who is the third generation, is very particular about Japanese sake and offers a selection of recommended sake. You can also purchase the popular "Yashiro" from Toyoshima Sake Brewery in Higashimurayama. It seems that it can be quite challenging to get the Yashiro sake as the production volume is limited. Inside the shop, there is a refrigerated case filled with various premium sake brands like "Yashiro," "Tsururei," "Yuki no Bijin," and "Toyoka." I spotted my favorite "Yuki no Chashitsu" among them. There are about four different types of "Yuki no Chashitsu," so I asked the shop owner about the differences in taste. He kindly explained the recommended options for serving cold or warm. I ended up purchasing the "Yuki no Chashitsu Junmai Ginjo 720ml" for 1620 yen, which is recommended for serving cold. It had a refreshing taste with a hint of rice umami, just as the shop owner described. Enjoying such delicious sake on New Year's Eve and welcoming the new year while getting tipsy is pure bliss (laughs). You can also sample the sake at this shop. Although I didn't ask for a tasting on this busy New Year's Eve, I got a sense of the shop's atmosphere and would definitely like to try some samples and purchase my favorite bottle next time. Thank you for the wonderful experience.
