C'EST UNE BONNE IDEE Jiyugaoka branch, a popular bakery in Jiyugaoka, is truly amazing! The name means "That's a good idea" in French, and it's a fitting name for this place. The store is located about a 4-minute walk from Jiyugaoka Station. The store is the second branch of a bakery located in Yagiyama Amusement Park. Here is a thorough review:
Key Points to Remember:
- On weekends, rainy days, and at opening, there were about 2 groups of customers. Later, around 5 groups arrived.
- The bakery has a good selection of bread at opening, but more varieties are baked as the day goes on.
- Payment methods accepted: cash, credit cards, transportation IC cards.
- According to Instagram, they are participating in an event at Isetan Shinjuku until the 16th.
Exciting Points to Check Out:
- You can see the production process through the glass, which is exciting. The displayed bread looks beautiful.
- Anko Butter Bun (¥330): A delicious combination of Hokkaido homemade anko and Calpis butter on a chewy bun.
- Canele (¥240): Made with Calvados instead of rum, giving it an apple flavor. Crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside.
- Oyster Sandwich with Beef and Watercress (¥580): Focaccia with juicy beef, tomato, lettuce, onion, and watercress.
- Croissant (¥290): A fragrant buttery croissant made with butter from the Hokkaido Nekan district.
- An Cream Bun (¥270): A thin but chewy bun filled with mascarpone cream with a balanced sweetness and acidity.

While exploring the department store basement, I came across a special booth featuring Setagaya Bonheur de Jour. This bakery, which has a main store located between Noborito and Mukogaoka-Yuen stations, has a sister store in Jiyugaoka. I had only ever purchased from the main store before, so I decided to take a look. They had a variety of breads including hard breads, fromage, nut-based pastries, and even Masala Donuts in several flavors. The prices ranged from 200 yen and up, depending on the item. I would love to visit their store in Jiyugaoka if I have the chance.

I heard that shokupan (Japanese white bread) is popular, but I bought a baguette instead. The Jiyugaoka baguette is slim and has a fragrant smell. The crust is crispy and the crumb has a nice elasticity. There are different types of malasada donuts available. I particularly liked the flavor of the French raspberry jam. There are multiple prominent bakeries in this area, and I think this is one of them.

I purchased salted bread, kouign-amann, carrot cake, and red bean butter, all of which were delicious! The salted bread had the perfect amount of salt and wasn't greasy, making it very tasty. I definitely want to come back next time, especially for the salted bread!

A few months ago, I visited the main store at Mukogaoka Yuen Station, but it was in the evening so there were fewer options. I regretted not buying the baguette back then, so when I heard about the 2nd store in Jiyugaoka on TV, I decided to visit around 3 pm. There were still plenty of choices, and I ended up buying the baguette I wanted along with some breakfast pastries. The Danish pastry I bought without checking the price turned out to be the most expensive, but it was worth it. The prices varied, with the Danish being the highest, but considering they use domestic wheat flour and the location in Jiyugaoka, it's reasonable. Jiyugaoka is a competitive area for bakeries, but this one offers a variety of bread including sandwiches, making it a good choice for everyday use. I bought Raclette (210 yen), a small square Melon Pan (210 yen), a hat-shaped Jiyugaoka Baguette (340 yen), and a Blueberry Danish (490 yen). The Raclette had thick cheese inside, the Melon Pan-like cookie was light and sweet, the Blueberry Danish used fresh blueberries and had a buttery and delicious pastry, and the Baguette was crispy, chewy, and flavorful. Overall, despite slightly lower ratings compared to the main store in terms of taste and price, I still highly recommend this bakery in Jiyugaoka. They focus on quality ingredients, and the prices are reasonable for the area. This bakery is likely to become more popular and receive higher ratings in the future. Quality ingredients, support for the store. Overall rating: +0.2

First, let's talk about the topic of the day. Before visiting this restaurant, I saw a news program discussing a scandal involving a certain company. Despite the widespread awareness of compliance in society and within companies, incidents of compliance violations continue to occur, which is puzzling. The root cause of such incidents often lies in the "paralysis" of the parties involved, which impairs their common sense. It's frustrating that even though people understand the issues, they can't seem to stop making the same mistakes. Moving on, I had some shopping to do and went to Jiyugaoka. I originally planned to have lunch at the popular cafe "LATTE GRAPHIC Jiyugaoka branch." However, the place was packed with over 10 groups on the waiting list, so I decided to try a Hokkaido ramen shop called "Miso Kuma Jiyugaoka branch" instead. Surprisingly, the miso butter corn ramen there was delicious. Later, I stopped by this restaurant to buy bread for breakfast the next day. This restaurant is the second branch of "C'est une bonne idée" in Mukogaoka Yuen, which opened in December 2021. The chef of this restaurant, Yasuyuki Arata, has an impressive background in the industry, having trained at renowned establishments. The place has a chic exterior and is located near Jiyugaoka station. I visited around 12:30 pm, after lunch and shopping, and found the interior to be stylish, fitting for Jiyugaoka. However, it seems like maintaining such a place could be costly. The bread was displayed on shelves in the center and along the walls.

"It's a Good Idea" is a bakery where I bought some delicious pastries made with domestic wheat. I had lunch at Bistellia across the street and decided to stop by here. I purchased a blueberry Danish for 490 yen, an anpan for 220 yen, a Quinamman for 340 yen, and an an butter for 350 yen. All of them were tasty. Thank you for the meal!

Visited at 2:00 PM on Sunday. Located about a 3-minute walk west from Jiyugaoka Station is the popular bakery Setun Bonnide, which opened its second store in December 2021 as the Jiyugaoka store. The owner trained at Dune L'arte in Aoyama and the store was produced by the former chef of Dune L'arte and the owner of 365 Days in Yoyogi-Hachiman. The name of the store means "That's a good idea" in French. They are particular about using domestic ingredients such as wheat, butter, eggs, and vegetables, and try to avoid using additives as much as possible. The An Butter and Croquant Ring are popular, and the owner's recommendation is the Quiche. The Jiyugaoka Shokupan is also one of the signature products. The entrance side of the store is fully glassed, bright, and the workshop is also glassed so that the inside can be seen. I purchased the Jiyugaoka Baguette ¥340, Me ¥240, and Morokyu ¥350.
- Jiyugaoka Baguette: Made with Yumeasahi wheat from Nagano, the wheat flour is allowed to absorb water overnight, then fermented overnight to bring out the sweetness over 3 days. Rice malt is added during this process to break down gluten, resulting in a light and crispy texture when toasted. It has a unique texture where the butter spreads in your mouth when you chew. It has a firm texture with a good crunch, not too hard, and the perfect chewiness. It's delicious.
- Me: A delicious pastry with milk dough and white chocolate from Valrhona, surrounded by a crispy cookie dough. It's named "Me" because it's so delicious that you might want to say "Me too."
- Morokyu: A French bread filled with corn, onions, and pickled cucumbers. It's unclear from the blurry photo whether it's pickled cucumbers, but it's definitely not pickled miso cucumbers. The bread is also made with French bread dough and was delicious just like the baguette. Everything was delicious again this time. I will continue to be a fan of this place.

A bakery near Jiyugaoka Station. Visited on a weekday around 5 pm, there were many types of bread displayed. They all looked delicious. The savory bread items were a bit pricey. The cinnamon malasada, anpan with butter, salted bread, croissant, all were tasty. I want to try a different bread next time.

I want to go back to this bakery again. The bread with corn and cucumber was interesting in a good way. I also bought salmon quiche, olive bacon, and curry bread. They were all delicious. There was a board next to the entrance where you could order drinks and eat right away.

I tried something that seemed like a strawberry danish, but I forgot the name. It had a crispy and chewy texture, with a hint of strawberry-like tartness. I prefer a slightly lighter texture, but it was delicious. The shop was only a few minutes from the nearest station. Everyone's detailed reviews are amazing.

I visited after a long time. The Tokiwa cream bread has a soft dough with a strong egg-flavored cream inside. The Boule Boule is a croissant in a different shape. The layers of the pie are vertical, giving a crunchy texture. I also discovered the popular Victoria sponge cake. It has a small amount of raspberry jam and cream as accents, and the dough is moist and delicious.

Every time I pass by the store, it's bustling inside, so I was curious. Takeout baguette ¥230, Boulé Boulé ¥260, Salmon and Spinach Quiche ¥540, Total ¥1,112. I felt the quality was high and the cost performance was good. It's a place I want to visit again.

The bread and quiche were delicious! They were being sold for a limited time at Isetan Shinjuku store. I forgot to take a picture, but the cream bread was also very tasty. The salmon and spinach quiche had a good portion size and was very delicious.

I visited during the daytime on a regular day, and there were about 4 people who came in after me, showing that the place is quite popular. There were a lot of bread options inside, so I had a hard time deciding. I couldn't make up my mind in one go, so I plan to come back again. The bread looked cute and was very delicious.

Jiyugaoka is full of bread and sweets shops, it's really fun! There's a bakery with water-added bread on the way to training, so I always buy some when I come to Jiyugaoka. But with so many shops here, I want to try other places too. I always end up buying a lot because I get overwhelmed by the variety of options at new shops. The bread here is delicious, not too hard even for hard bread. The whole wheat bread was not too strong in flavor. I think it would be fragrant when toasted. I think bakeries with delicious dough are quite rare. I'll definitely go back to buy more when I visit Jiyugaoka again!

I finished my errands in Jiyugaoka and stopped by here to pick up bread for tomorrow. I arrived around 2:15 pm on a holiday during Golden Week, with 3 groups of customers already inside. The shop is bright and faces the street. There are 2 staff members working. The croissant (¥290) was light and perfect for everyday. The butter chicken curry bun (¥350) had deliciously tender chicken curry filling. The an butter (¥330) had a fun texture. The malasada donut pâtissier (¥330) had delicious cream. Although it seems to focus on hard bread, the seasoning and creativity in dishes like butter chicken curry were also great. Thank you for the meal.

I purchased a Cream Pan and a Maron Glace Rustic Scone. The Cream Pan looked hard on the outside (French style?), but when I held it, it was actually soft and fluffy. It pleasantly surprised me and was delicious. The Scone was moist, despite looking dry. It was also very tasty. The Rustic Scone had a good amount of Maron Glace, giving it a taste similar to eating a Mont Blanc. This might be my favorite. Overall, the prices are more affordable compared to other famous bakeries, making it easy to buy. I think I'll try another type of scone next time.

I was planning to go to Paris Seveille, but there was already a long line, so I decided to go to this bakery that I had been wanting to visit. I was surprised to find a stylish bakery in this area. When I entered the shop, several customers were looking at the bread. Overall, although the prices were a bit high, all the bread looked delicious. I bought a croissant and an an-butter sandwich. The taste was decent for the price. I prefer the crispy croissants from Dominique Saibron in Shinjuku, but these were not as crispy. I wanted to try more varieties, but I felt like I wouldn't come to Jiyugaoka just for this shop.

I happened to come across this place. It seemed popular as customers kept coming in one after another. I bought the number one popular item, which was the bread, along with a few others. I also bought a pie-like bread, which I tried the next day and it was crispy and crunchy. The bread had a soft and sweet taste. I want to try other items on the menu, so I will visit again.

Lunch with a friend in Jiyugaoka. One of the highlights is stopping by a bakery shop after lunch. This time, we visited a shop near the restaurant Taiwanese Seicha Rengetsutei. The shop had a cute exterior with large glass windows. It was a rainy Saturday afternoon, so we could leisurely choose our bread inside. We bought Olive and Homemade Bacon, Cinnamon Roll, and Caramel French. The Olive and Homemade Bacon had a good balance of bacon's saltiness and olives. The Cinnamon Roll had a strong cinnamon scent and a moist bread texture, which I liked. The Caramel French had a rich caramel flavor that paired well with the crispy outside and fluffy inside of the baguette. There were other delicious-looking bread options, and I would love to try them next time.
