I visited the small, cute bakery around 5 pm on a weekday. In addition to their delicious bread, they also had a selection of simple Italian-style breads. I bought a croque monsieur and another bread with mushrooms and cheese (I forgot the name). Both breads had a stronger flavor from the fillings rather than the wheat itself. The egg on the croque monsieur was fully cooked. The size was average and the taste was decent. This bakery specializes in takeout. They have a variety of breads, although there are not many sweet options. I noticed some locals buying bread, so it seems like a popular spot for regular customers.

Today, I visited the bakery for the first time since mistakenly going on their day off last time. There were more deli bread options than I expected. While Japanese bread is often overshadowed by French bread, I feel like Italian bread is gradually gaining more influence. This is especially noticeable in the world of sweets. I bought a Panigotta, fig, raisin, and focaccia. Overall, they all had a nice wheat aroma, but they were light and fluffy. Unfortunately, I couldn't feel the love for wheat in them. (Tears)

After exploring Gokokuji Temple, I came to this place that I had planned to visit in advance. I was undecided on what to choose, but ended up buying the delicious Bolognese focaccia for 300 yen. The focaccia was thick, soft, and had plenty of toppings, so it was delicious from start to finish. There were other varieties available, so I would like to try them if I have the chance again.

I couldn't help but pass by this small shop. I love focaccia, so I often compare and eat different kinds. I visited two days in a row. By around noon, the shop has a variety of options lined up. There aren't as many choices in the evening. The blue cheese and walnut focaccia was delicious. The honey drizzle on top made the 1/4 size perfect for a dessert-like treat. I also tried the rosemary and rock salt samples. The focaccia had a good balance of salt and was delicious! I want to go back again, but the temptation of the bakery across the street, Gunbayashi-dou, is strong. [Purchased items:] Three types of focaccia, rosetta bread, ciabatta, raisin bread, two types of pizza, raisin cream cheese.

On the way to Hotel Chinzanso, I stopped by a bakery on Onjuku Street. There were rumors that cream puffs were becoming popular, so I bought one. Later, I found out that this bakery is a specialty shop for Italian bread, which is rare in Japan. They use Italian flour and carefully selected ingredients to make bread using the traditional method called Biga. The chef, who has won awards at the Panettone competition in Milan, seems to be very skilled. The cream puff I tried was light and soft, with a delicious cream filling that made it easy to eat multiple pieces without getting tired of it. I wish I had known it was an Italian bakery, I would have bought focaccia too. Unfortunately, they didn't have Maritozzo. I would love to visit again if I have the chance.

Gokoku-ji☆Unexpectedly found a delicious bakery on this day, starting with a day of walking around from Ningyocho♪ Looking at Google Maps from Gokoku-ji to the destination Edo-gawa bridge, it was a walkable distance! Along the way, I found a bakery that didn't stand out much. As a bread lover (laughs), I decided to stop by! (laughs) I bought two items, both delicious, although I forgot the names. The bread with raisins and cheese was so good, I want to eat it again♫ Thank you for the meal.

I stumbled upon a small bakery and couldn't resist going in. They had a large selection of focaccia breads on display! I ended up buying a Gorgonzola and honey focaccia for myself. I had it the next day and it was fluffy, with a hint of saltiness, and very delicious.

I happened to come across a stylish bakery in the early afternoon on a regular day. Since I had already eaten lunch, I decided to buy just one sweet bread. I bought a peanut cream bread for 259 yen. When I ate it at home, it was very delicious and sweet. I will definitely try other breads from there soon.

Many customers come from afar to confirm, reserve, and buy the unique panettone that is not usually available. This renowned shop specializes in baking Italian bread in a traditional way, regardless of whether one is particular about panettone. Many customers who have studied or worked in Italy, or have traveled there multiple times, are regulars. Their plain ciabatta is highly recommended. Italian meal bread is also perfect for family gatherings. The atmosphere is top-notch. Located between Edogawabashi and Gokokuji.

The somewhat expensive bread labeled "artisan" turned out to be rich in flavor despite its lean appearance. The brioche, shaped like a panettone, was also on the lean side. The rich type with a crust was perhaps from France? All of them were good as bread for a meal.

I thought it was an Italian bakery, but there were some Italian breads and the croissant dough had a slightly sweet taste like in an Italian bar. They also had Nutella inside, giving it an Italian touch. Other than that, the cream bread and other items were delicious, but nothing particularly unique.

On the way back from Gunrin-do, I stopped by a bakery that I had been curious about for a while. The atmosphere of the shop is a bit stylish. The items in the case are handed to you by the staff, and the items near the window are wrapped in cellophane. It's hygienic. Have you heard of "Nutella"? It's a chocolate cream paste that is a staple in Italian and Spanish households. I found a chocolate croissant-like version of it. I also bought a baked curry bun and Gorgonzola cheese focaccia. The sandwiches also looked delicious! But I already bought too much with the dango and kashiwamochi from Gunrin-do, so I had to resist. I reheated the Nutella croissant-like pastry. The dough is not like a buttery and flaky pie crust, but more like a chewy salt bread. The reheated Nutella in between was delicious. It was slightly melted, bringing back the original Nutella flavor. I also reheated the curry bun. It's not fried, but baked, so it's not greasy. The flavor and spiciness of the curry inside come through. It was so hot that I burned my mouth... I wanted to savor the curry bun while blowing on it.

It's a bakery on Ayame Street. The number of people allowed inside at once was limited to prevent overcrowding. I visited on a Saturday morning. I bought Gelmore and Ciabatta to have for dinner, along with Raisin Cream Cheese and Chunky Cheese from the deli bread section. Gelmore and Ciabatta were delicious when eaten with olive oil.

I went to buy daifuku at Gunrindou and decided to look for a nearby delicious bakery on Tabelog. I bought four breads and a small cheese. When I got home and tried them, they were so delicious! I regret not buying more. I will definitely go back soon for a walk and buy more.

I stopped by during a walk in between working from home. It was a specialty shop for Italian bread, offering various types of focaccia with different toppings. The bread seemed softer compared to French bread. I bought: ● Gorgonzola Focaccia for 250 yen ● Tuna and Onion bread for 330 yen. The Tuna and Onion bread had mayonnaise on top, a perfect combination. The texture was like a mix of a roll and French bread. The highlight was the Gorgonzola Focaccia. With a crunchy cheese and walnut topping, along with the soft focaccia, it was a delightful experience. The Gorgonzola had a slightly spicy taste, complemented by a hint of honey sweetness. It exceeded my expectations in terms of taste. There were other bread options that caught my eye, so I will definitely visit again during another walk. Thank you for the meal!

Saturday, September 2020, around 11:30 AM. No prior customers. Bread and oil. A specialty Italian bread shop. Le Panettone 2014 Runner-up Italy Milan "Le Panettone 2014", where 20,000 Panettone lovers gathered over two days, the shop owner's "apple, walnut, ginger Panettone" won the runner-up prize. I came across an article mentioning that the shop owner was the first Asian to advance to the final and win the runner-up prize, as well as being the first Japanese and Asian to do so. Panettone is one of the three major Christmas breads in Europe. While I love German Stollen as a Christmas bread, in Milan, Italy, Panettone is a classic Christmas treat. It is a luxurious fermented confection made with egg yolk and butter, mixed with a generous amount of selected sultana raisins, orange peel, lemon peel, and other dried fruits, and baked in a dome shape. Christmas is just around the corner. Can't wait. Purchased items: - Italian Croissant Cornetto 260 Individually wrapped and sold. It is sprinkled with sugar, sweet, and has a fruity taste. - Seasonal fruit and mascarpone focaccia 250 Today, with figs rebaked, the bread dough is crispy and has a lemon scent, and the combination with figs is good. Together with mascarpone, it feels like eating a banana. - Bonboloni 240 Italian donuts Custard cream-filled I imagined Mister Donut's angel cream and bought it, but it is not greasy, not too sweet, and the bread dough is soft. The cream also has a lemon-like flavor, refreshing and delicious. I want to eat this again. - Shirasu and Genovese focaccia 250 The Genovese is delicious. The green color is vivid. I try not to make eye contact with the shirasu (laughs). When rebaked, the bread dough is crispy. My favorite is Bonboloni. I definitely want to stop by again when I'm nearby. Can't wait for Christmas and Panettone!

On this day, I visited the areas around Otsuka, Shin-Otsuka, Myogadani, and Gokokuji. When it comes to famous bakeries from overseas, France is the first country that comes to mind. Next would be Italy, but recently it seems like there are more German bakeries popping up. One lesser-known Italian bakery is "Pane e Olio" near Gokokuji Station. Their specialty Panettone has even won second place in a contest in Milan, showcasing their skills. They also sell Italian bread and olive oil. If you head south to Edogawabashi and Kagurazaka, you'll find various bakeries, but around Gokokuji, this small independent bakery is quite rare. The store opens at 10:00, but when I arrived a few minutes early, I was pleasantly surprised to see that they were already open. Lucky me. They also sell flowers at the storefront, although they are not a florist. This kind of place makes you feel like you're in Italy without really knowing why. Inside the store, bread is lined up in a row. The Panettone specialty was available, but they only sold it as a whole, which was a bit too expensive for me. So, I opted for some other unique Italian breads. Here's what I tried: - Cornetto: An Italian croissant that is soft and fluffy with a slightly crispy sugary coating. - Rosetta: A traditional Roman bread shaped like a rose, with a firm texture and a hint of saltiness. - Tartaruga: A turtle shell-shaped bread with a crispy crust and a hollow center. - Refreshing Lemon Melon Pan: A rugby ball-shaped melon bread with lemon peel for a refreshing taste. - Sausage Bread: A bread roll wrapped with sausage and cheese, giving a nice meaty texture. - Apricot Cornetto: A cornetto filled with apricot jam, providing a sweet and tangy flavor. They also offer Japanese-style bread, but I recommend trying their Italian bread for an authentic experience. Note that they may not always have Panettone available, so be sure to check beforehand. Overall, it was a delightful experience!

After visiting Gunrindou, the next stop was this bakery. This is a rare Italian bread specialty store that opened in 2013. Chef Teruaki Kobayashi won the second prize at the 2014 Milan Panettone Contest, showcasing his skills. Excited to see what kinds of Italian bread were available, I headed there, but unfortunately, it started raining lightly, delaying my arrival. When I reached the front of the store, I found out that due to the pandemic, customers were not allowed inside, and payment had to be made at the storefront where a limited selection of bread was displayed. Despite the limited options, I purchased four types of bread for a meal. - Gelmorri (100 yen): A smaller version of Lungo, simple yet delicious with a fluffy texture. - Croque Madame (390 yen): A rich and thick bread topped with egg, cheese, white sauce, and bacon, providing a satisfying taste. - Cornetto (260 yen): I chose the plain one among various sweet options, which had a subtle sweetness from the icing sugar topping. - Fig Bread (330 yen): A bread filled with fig, surprisingly delicious even for someone who doesn't particularly like figs. I was amazed by the deliciousness of Italian bread. Despite the limited selection due to the pandemic, I decided to revisit this bakery. I also discovered that there are many promising restaurants along Onba Street, and I look forward to exploring more in the future.

Arrived around 12 PM on Saturday. Lately, I have been avoiding eating out due to COVID, so I often buy bread from Sekiguchi France Pan and eat at home. I planned to do the same this day and was thinking of buying a baguette or sandwich bread to make pizza toast, but they were unexpectedly sold out. I checked with another store near Edogawabashi Station, but they were also sold out. So, I called Pane e Olio, a highly recommended bakery nearby. They were out of baguettes, but luckily had some sandwich bread left, so I reserved it and headed there immediately. I brought it home and tried it. First, I ate the bread as is. It had a rich wheat aroma and was delicious, probably because it was freshly baked. The texture was fluffy. Next, I lightly toasted the surface, spread tomato sauce, topped it with sliced onions, bell peppers, crispy bacon, and mozzarella cheese, then baked it to make pizza toast. It was also delicious when cooked. The only downside is the price. It is indeed quite tasty, but at almost 500 yen for one loaf, it's twice the price of regular sandwich bread. Since bread like sandwich bread or baguettes is something we eat regularly, I think the price is an important factor. Next time, I plan to try their baguette.
