Jujo's Jizo-dori shopping street. On a certain holiday, I visited Jujo in the afternoon with a mission from my mother to "buy pants." It was another hot and humid day. As I walked around looking for pants for my mother, I couldn't bear the heat and decided to take a break in a convenience store with air conditioning, where I bought some canned beer to cool off. While walking and drinking, I spotted a shop with smoke coming out of it, selling grilled chicken skewers right on the spot. I had planned to explore somewhere after finishing my shopping, but before that, I decided to refuel with a can of beer as my companion. Since I was walking, I only needed a little bit. I got one white meat skewer and one green onion skewer. They were already grilled, but they heated them up before handing them to me, so they were still hot. I couldn't find a bench, so I walked about 10 meters into a narrow alley off the shopping street, where the sun was blocked by the building and there were no people around, and took a short break. I enjoyed the grilled chicken skewers with my beer. First, the white meat skewer, grilled with a sweet and savory sauce. It was a part meant for drinking, with a subtle flavor that was enhanced by the sauce, and a unique chewy texture that paired well with the beer. Then, the green onion skewer, also known as negima. The slightly burnt green onions were fragrant, and the chicken was tender and flavorful, making for a delicious skewer. The sweet and savory sauce also complemented the beer well. This shop is popular even among non-alcoholic drinkers, as there may be a few people lining up. I bought the beer to escape the heat, but I happened to find a "partner" that brought the moment to life. With a can of beer in hand, I may find myself drinking outside of the shop more often in Jujo, now that I've found a great companion.

My breakfast this morning. I thought about having a yakitori bowl, but I feel heavy today... Even though my weight should have decreased in the morning, I felt heavy. In this shop, they call negima yakitori and tsukune chicken dango. I read in other reviews that if you bring your own drink, they allow you to drink and snack in front of the shop. In addition to yakitori, they also have fried food and side dishes. I used takeout. I lightly reheated it, dipped it in sauce, wrapped it in paper. Then put it in a plastic bag with handles. I was impressed by this consideration for preventing the sauce from spilling in the bag (〃▽〃) The sauce is light, slightly sweet, but leaves a refreshing soy sauce aftertaste. The dango has a texture that seems to have a lot of flour mixed in to prevent it from losing its shape. The taste was as expected (^-^) But it was good that I saved the trouble of making breakfast.

I ate a croquette at "Inageya" in Sugamo, Toshima-ku, Tokyo. The nearest station is JR Yamanote Line "Sugamo Station". It is about an 8-minute walk from the north exit or the main entrance of the station. This is a chicken-based delicatessen shop. Although they mainly serve yakitori, I aimed for the fried food here! However, they only had pre-made cold croquettes, so I asked for a freshly fried one - and they made a new one for me! So, after waiting for about 6 minutes, I purchased the croquette. Despite being a shop focused on chicken, I deliberately chose the croquette! The crispy coating encased a fluffy potato filling. It was delicious even without sauce! Fried fresh is the best! Croquettes must be eaten freshly fried! I devoured it in one go. Croquettes are really disappointing when cold, but they are incredibly delicious when freshly fried!

Located about a 5-minute walk from Koshinzuka Station on the Toden Arakawa Line, in a corner of the Sugamo Jizo-dori Shotengai. Next to it is the famous Tonkatsu Ittouage Kamekawa Sugamo Main Store. In front of the showcase, they sell side dishes and freshly grilled yakitori. There were a few men with alcohol in hand, perhaps drawn in by the yakitori. I wanted to try it too, but it was a bit crowded, so I ended up going towards the side dishes section. They mainly offer fried foods with a few simmered dishes here and there. I ordered the Chicken Liver Simmered (100g = ¥210). I ended up getting a little more than 100g, but they didn't charge me extra, which was nice. The chicken liver had a soy sauce flavor with sliced ginger, and it was well-prepared with no unpleasant smell. The flavor was easy to eat, not masked by the thickness of the sauce. All the side dishes were reasonably priced, but I still can't help but be curious about the yakitori. I would definitely like to try it if I have the chance.

At a yakitori and deli shop in the Sugamo Togenuki Jizo shopping street in Sugamo, there were several types of yakitori lined up at the storefront. It would have been nice if they grilled duck as well. I ordered white motsu and negi-ma for a snack, and they took their time grilling it again, but it was only slightly warm. There was no smoke, and the heat seemed weak, haha. There is a bench in front of the post office across from Inageya, so I sat there with elderly people and enjoyed a beer I bought from the convenience store. It was a peaceful time.

From Sugamo Station, there is a Jizo Street shopping street where you can find the Throwing Away Bad Luck Jizo statue. It gets crowded on weekends, just like the Harajuku for grandparents. But there are also many young people here. If you go from Sugamo Station, you will find Inageya beyond the Throwing Away Bad Luck Jizo statue. The crowd thins out a bit after passing the statue. Maybe everyone turns back at the statue. The area in front of the shop is crowded with people waiting for yakitori. Yakitori seems to be popular with good word of mouth. They are delicious at Inageya, not just the yakitori. Personally, I recommend the juicy fried chicken. Can you feel the juiciness in the photo? It might be best to reheat it, but even when cold, it's delicious. Just order as many as you want and take them home. If you can also get some yakitori to go, it would be perfect with beer tonight. It seems like you could have a fun night.

I also got a mini omelette (50 yen) that seemed like something I used to have in school lunches, along with the yakitori and tebasaki. It wasn't amazingly delicious, but when you put plenty of shichimi on the yakitori that is served warm after being reheated, it becomes quite tasty. The tebasaki was cold but had a satisfying size and wasn't dry, which was good. The omelette had a nostalgic taste. It doesn't seem to be an original dish of this restaurant.

The reviewer took the Toden Arakawa Line to Koshinzuka, then had ramen at a Showa-era music show before walking towards JR Sugamo. Along the way in Sugamo shopping street, they tried the standing-style white motsu for 135 yen at a shop. The white motsu was grilled over charcoal and then warmed again before serving. It was sweet and the pieces were quite large, allowing for a flavorful and enjoyable chewing experience. Despite being a bit pricey, the reviewer found it delicious. Overall, the trip from riding the Arakawa Line to Sugamo was a nostalgic and enjoyable experience.

I decided to go shopping for dinner at the shopping street. I usually just pass by this place, but a few days ago I saw them grilling yakitori with charcoal, which caught my interest. It was in the evening, so the front of the store was bustling with locals, and some of the side dishes were already sold out. There were people enjoying yakitori with a beer in hand. In the midst of all this, I bought some fried chicken and grilled leeks. When I got home, I immediately tried them out!! Delicious!! It was a day where I made a new discovery.

I recently went on a food tour in the Jizo-dori shopping street in Sugamo, and one of the places I tried was a yakitori shop. There are various shops in the Jizo-dori shopping street, offering classic treats like steamed buns, rice crackers, and dango. I couldn't resist trying the freshly grilled yakitori after seeing it being cooked. I ordered the chicken skin, and it looked delicious as it sizzled on the charcoal grill. The smoke rising from the skin made my mouth water. I savored the freshly grilled skewer and thought to myself, "Delicious! Freshly grilled food is the best!" Satisfied, I continued my food tour in search of the next tasty treat.

In the Jizo Shotengai in Sugamo, there is a yakitori restaurant. A woman sweating profusely while grilling chicken. Several customers gathered in front of her. The grilled chicken is placed on a plate in front. I didn't quite understand the sales style of this shop, so I asked one of the regulars who seemed to be crowding around. They said it's okay to take the grilled chicken on the plate and eat it. The regular said, "The yakitori here is incredibly delicious!" So, after getting permission from the staff, I tried taking the Negima on the plate. Wow, it's thick and juicy. It's not thigh meat, but it's incredibly tender. The sweetness of the leeks complements the meat very well. The sauce is also sweet, not too strong, and doesn't ruin the deliciousness of the meat. Yeah, this yakitori is definitely delicious!

On April 26, 2014 (Saturday), after eating pork cutlet curry, I strolled around Sugamo Jizo-dori Shopping Street, also known as "Harajuku for grannies." There were various shops, and it was fun just to look around. I had planned to have a drink and a meal at Tokiwa Shokudo, but to my surprise, there were about 10 people waiting in line in front of the shop! It seemed impossible to have a meal there, so I reluctantly continued walking around. Eventually, I found a shop grilling yakitori, and it looked delicious! When I asked the woman grilling if I could eat while drinking, she suggested I buy something from the nearby convenience store. Without hesitation, I went to the convenience store, bought a bottle of oolong tea highball, and returned to the shop. I ordered chicken breast, liver, and chicken skin, which were grilled over charcoal, topped with sauce, and served on a white plate. There was shichimi spice on the plate, which I sprinkled over the yakitori. I enjoyed eating and drinking on the chairs facing the shop. The yakitori was delicious! Menu: Chicken breast - 135 yen, Liver - 135 yen, Chicken skin - 135 yen

I visited the store on a whim. They were grilling yakitori outside, but I decided to buy chicken wings and chicken tenderloin katsu to take home instead. I'll take them to go! The chicken wings were delicious with the sauce soaked in. The chicken tenderloin katsu wasn't freshly fried, but it was still crispy and tasty. I should have bought some yakitori after all... Thank you for the meal.

I had one skewer of grilled chicken and one skewer of grilled liver, both costing 135 yen each. They were on the smaller side, but generously coated in sauce and the meat was tender and tasty. They are grilled to order, so you can enjoy them hot and fresh, making it good for eating on the go.

I love the atmosphere of the shopping street where they sell grilled chicken skewers. It's a must-buy when there's grilled chicken in the shopping street! They cook it fresh after you order! The liver has a slight smell to it. The taste is okay. I can't resist the temptation of the shopping street.
