Today, I had some free time in the morning, so I visited Ishigami Park, Shin-Egota, Jinbocho, and then moved to Korakuen. For the fourth stop, I finally went to "French Noodle Factory," a popular ramen shop that opened in April 2023 and is the sister store of "Ebi Maru Ramen," known for its omal shrimp in Jinbocho. I had been curious about this place since it opened, but I hadn't actively made time to visit because it's located in a commercial facility. However, today everything worked out well, and I was also interested in a limited-time cold menu, so I went with high expectations!
The "French Noodle Factory" is located inside "Tokyo Dome LaQua DELI&DISH," with an open layout that makes it inviting. The interior is predominantly white, creating a cafe-like atmosphere. There are counter seats and table seats, and when I visited around 8:10 PM, it was about 70% full. After looking through the menu placed on the table, I was disappointed to find that the limited-time "Cold Corn Ramen" I was eyeing had already ended. Nevertheless, since I was in the mood for something cold, I decided to try the new limited-time "Cold Clam Chowder Ramen" (1254 yen).
After placing my order, the Cold Clam Chowder Ramen arrived in a tall bowl with a narrow base, featuring a beautifully presented cold cream soup. I eagerly tried the soup, and it was delicious! The chilled soup had a strong flavor of clams, with a creamy and smooth texture that was rich and flavorful. It was enhanced by the use of dried ingredients like dried shiitake mushrooms and kombu, giving it a deep umami taste. The straight, medium-thin noodles were slippery and smooth, allowing them to easily soak up the soup. They had a firm and chewy texture, complementing the cold clam chowder soup perfectly.
The whole clams in their shells added a delightful seafood flavor to the dish. The pork chashu was tender and moist, enhancing the overall flavor. The greens provided a crunchy texture and a hint of bitterness, adding a nice contrast. The seasonal watermelon was sweet and refreshing, pairing well with the cold cream soup. The minced arugula had a crunchy texture and a flavorful taste, serving as a great accent. The yellow flower petals not only added color but also contributed to the overall flavor profile.
The baguette was crispy and toasted, making it a perfect accompaniment to the soup. As I finished the soup, I realized that it had a strong salty taste with a subtle creaminess and depth of flavor from the clams and dried ingredients. I couldn't help but finish every last drop!
Overall, the price range was reasonable, and the quality was satisfactory. Although I didn't get to try the cold ramen I had in mind, the Cold Clam Chowder Ramen was a well-executed dish that left me fully satisfied. The restaurant's convenient location in a commercial facility and the appealing limited-time menu items make me want to visit again when the opportunity arises!
