I went to Kichijoji and visited Tenon, a famous taiyaki shop known for its taiyaki with wings attached. It was Sunday and there was a line outside the shop. There seemed to be many foreign tourists. I tried the taiyaki with wings. They spread out the taiyaki skin and bake it. The wings part was quite thick. There was more skin than red bean paste. The taste was a classic taiyaki flavor. The customer service from the staff was not very good. I think it's good for creating memories in Kichijoji.

Purchased at a Sapporo Marui Imai event. It was selected as one of the top 100 traditional Japanese sweets and confectionery shops. I had purchased it at a previous event. My wife remembered it and said, "Just one is fine." I realized that we had eaten this many times before, so I followed my wife's advice. I bought the Tsubuan (251 yen). It would probably taste different if eaten fresh out of the oven, but we reheated it in the oven. The skin was crispy and the inside was warm, and it tasted delicious. The dough was good, the sweet bean paste was not too sweet, although there was not as much filling as shown in the sample, which was a bit disappointing. But the taste was good. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

This is a taiyaki shop located in a quiet back alley of the shopping street in Kichijoji. The taiyaki with fins is rare, and it feels like it's pretty much my first time trying it. Being able to eat the fins gives a similar sensation to having shortbread with the taiyaki dough, and it was delicious.

Arrived around 12:30 on Sunday. There was only one person ahead of me, but I quickly ordered a taiyaki with wings for 220 yen and waited a bit. I told them I wanted to eat it right away, so they provided it in simple packaging that was easy to eat. It was piping hot, crispy on the wings, and incredibly delicious! Thank you for the meal! I will definitely go again. ^ ^

Visited a renowned shop in Musashino City, Tokyo, known for its winged taiyaki called Tenon. They were participating in a local Ito Yokado event, so I didn't hesitate to go and buy some. I purchased two items, one seasonal and one classic. The "red bean paste" was ¥251 and the "chestnut paste" was ¥260. The winged part had a thicker and crispier texture than expected, and the size of the taiyaki was quite large, providing a satisfying bite. The red bean paste had a nice balance of black sugar flavor in both the dough and the filling, with just the right amount of sweetness. It was packed with filling but not overly sweet. The chestnut paste had white sesame sprinkled on top of the dough before baking, adding a different flavor profile with the sesame. The balance between the dough and the filling was perfect, making it delicious without one overpowering the other.

"2023 Wagashi/Sweets Shop Top 100: At Harmonica Yokocho in Kichijoji, there is a popular spot for sweets called Yuushoku Taikashi Honpo Tenon. Despite being tucked away, this shop always has a line of customers due to its popularity. When we arrived just after opening, there was only one family, likely tourists, waiting in line. We were able to purchase our treats quickly. In addition to their famous taiyaki, their dango is also a popular item. The 'Hane Tai' costs ¥220 and is known as 'taikashi' instead of 'taiyaki' in Kichijoji. The shop's official name is Yuushoku Taikashi Honpo Tenon. They named it 'taikashi' to emphasize the soft and delicious texture even when cold. The crispy outer layer contrasts with the sweet red bean paste inside, which is generously filled with black syrup in both the paste and the skin. The gentle sweetness and chewy texture make it addictive, and the tail is also filled with red bean paste. Bon appétit!"

Looking for a snack after lunch, I headed to Kichijoji. The quaint Harmonica Yokocho is filled with various food options, including taiyaki shops here and there. Among them, I decided to try Tenon, where you can get taiyaki with wings. The shop is small. They offer taiyaki with red bean paste or custard, and although I hesitated a bit, this time I chose the classic one. I'm a sucker for anything labeled "limited quantity," so it was a tough decision~ haha Another customer who happened to come in at the same time seemed to be buying dango quite frequently. ▶︎Ordered Item - Winged Taiyaki: 220 yen The taiyaki was served immediately after purchasing. The taiyaki had wings attached firmly, giving it a substantial weight. When I tried it, the wings were crispy and fragrant, the skin was crunchy, and the inside was slightly chewy. Since it was freshly baked, it wasn't tough and was delicious. The dough was somewhat thick, in my opinion. The filling was not as generous as it appeared, with more dough than filling. The red bean paste was okay, with a slightly sweet taste. I heard it contained brown sugar, but I couldn't really tell. It was just a decently tasty red bean paste. It wasn't a surprising flavor, but it was quite filling. It's just right for a light snack. Thank you for the meal~!

It's about a 2-minute walk from JR Kichijoji Station. It's a takeout-only shop. Today, I bought one taiyaki for 240 yen. It was filled with plenty of red bean paste from head to tail. The skin was thin and the outer part was crispy, allowing you to enjoy the texture. It was delicious until the last bite. However, it didn't feel particularly special. Thank you for the meal.

On a day off, I went for a walk with my son. We visited a popular sweet stand in Harmonica Yokocho, just a 2-minute walk from Kichijoji Station North Exit. Their signature item, a feather-topped taiyaki, is considered my son's favorite soul food and the shop is always crowded with customers. The shop has been awarded as one of the top 100 traditional Japanese confectionery shops. On a Saturday around 1 pm, we entered the shop with one other customer already there. After purchasing, the customer in front of us started taking photos silently in front of the counter. It seemed like a professional or a dedicated food blogger. After a few minutes, the customer left with a satisfied expression. The shop owner and I exchanged a knowing smile. We bought a taiyaki with a feather and shared it at home after lightly toasting it. The surface was crispy, and the inside was filled to the brim with sweet red bean paste, blending the natural sweetness of the beans with the aroma and richness of black sugar. I understood why it's so popular. Thank you for the delicious treat. We will definitely come back.

There is a traditional Japanese sweets shop in Harmonica Yokocho. They are famous for their taiyaki with wings, and there is often a long line. I personally don't see the value in the wings, so I don't usually buy them. However, when I passed by and there was only one person in line, I decided to buy one. The taiyaki was just okay, not great. It wasn't very hot, which was disappointing. I understand why it's popular, but lukewarm taiyaki is not tasty. Despite that, the mitarashi dango was delicious. It was excellent, with a great texture. I regret not buying all three varieties instead of just the taiyaki.

I visited "Tenon," a popular shop among young people in Kichijoji. It was selected as one of the top 100 sweet shops in Tokyo by Tabelog in 2023. Congratulations! The owner, Kazumasa Aihara, who used to run a restaurant, opened the shop in November 2004 because he liked the location of Kichijoji. It is located about a 1-minute walk from Kichijoji Station, which is served by the JR Chuo Line, Sobu Line, and Keio Inokashira Line. It faces Diamond Street Cherinaad, just off the east exit rotary of Kichijoji Station. It is located in the Harmonica Yokocho. A wooden sign that says "Taikashi Tenon" is displayed. As you approach the shop, a delicious aroma wafts out. They use a custom-made mold created by a metal craftsman who also made the Olympic torch for the Tokyo Olympics. Today, I tried the following menu item: - Hane-Dai Taiyaki: The taiyaki has wings attached around it, giving it a shape like a taiyaki sitting on a square plate. The filling is a thin batter, and the part near the wings is slightly thicker, giving it a fluffy texture. The sweet red bean paste filling is generously packed inside. The wings add a sense of value to the taiyaki. Thank you for the meal.

I purchased a sweet bean paste taiyaki with a rating of 3.7 for taste. It had a mild sweetness and the aftertaste was not lingering. The bean paste was delicious, and the thickness of the dough was just right. The customer service received a rating of 3.3. I visited around 11:30 and did not have to wait in line. The staff quickly took my order and were attentive. The interior of the shop received a rating of 3.7. It had a retro atmosphere that felt nostalgic.

On a scorching hot day, I strolled through Harmonica Yokocho. I was drawn to this taiyaki shop on a small path and decided to buy one. The custard flavor was sold out, so I chose the red bean paste flavor instead. The crispy texture of the dough was excellent, and it paired well with the red bean paste. Despite the heat, this warm taiyaki was delicious.

Kichijoji Tenon Tabelog ★★★☆☆ 3.61 Google Rating ★★★★☆ 4.2 Personal Rating ★★★★☆ 4.1 Restaurant Introduction Tucked away quietly on Asahi Street in the Harmonica Yokocho area, "Tenon" is a hidden gem. Although it's close to the station, it's a bit hard to find from the main street in front of the station. This popular shop is known for its exquisite taiyaki baked in a mold custom-made by a craftsman who created the Olympic torch. It's for takeout only, but there's always a line of 2 or 3 people. In addition to taiyaki, they also sell rice cakes, warabi mochi, and soft serve ice cream. Order Menu Tai Kashi (220 yen) The taiyaki made in a custom mold has a crispy outer layer and a chewy skin, with a mildly sweet red bean paste that is very delicious. The red bean paste is carefully selected from Hokkaido, and both the skin and the red bean paste use black sugar to enhance the unity. I definitely want to try the custard, which is limited in quantity. I found this place while wandering around after eating at Min Min nearby. They were selling taiyaki, anko, and odango. The taiyaki had a crispy outer layer, moist inside, and was filled with plenty of anko - it was very delicious! I'm curious about the odango too.

In the Harmonica Yokocho of Kichijoji, there is a famous shop for winged taiyaki called "Amane." I visited the shop after a long time at 2 pm on a weekday, with 2 customers already inside and 1 customer behind me. During this hot weather with temperatures near 30 degrees, many people tend to buy dango instead of taiyaki. However, I decided to go for the winged taiyaki priced at 220 yen. The winged part of the taiyaki makes it feel like a good deal! The wing part is crispy, and the inside is filled with sweet red bean paste all the way to the tail. It's irresistible for red bean lovers. It's satisfying to eat just one, as it has a good amount of filling. It was delicious, thank you for the treat!

On Saturday afternoon, there is a shop in a narrow alley in Hamonika Yokocho. The taiyaki is made to order and takes a little time to be ready. The freshly made taiyaki has a crispy thin skin and the matcha filling is not too sweet, which is delicious. I don't like the ones with thick dough that makes you thirsty, but this one was just right. It might be the most delicious taiyaki I have ever had.

I got a popular item, the signature winged taiyaki, from the popular restaurant "Amane" in Kichijoji for takeout. It's perfect for enjoying while walking around the streets of Kichijoji. The harmony of the generous amount of sweet bean paste and red bean paste wrapped in the dough is exquisite. There are several top-notch taiyaki shops, but this one is definitely among the best in terms of quality. I will definitely do takeout again! Thank you for the delicious meal. Visit date: 06/08/2023

In its 19th year at Harmonica Yokocho, this shop seems a bit out of place in the alley, but it's popular with customers who come and go with their taiyaki treats. There are various types of taiyaki available, but this shop's taiyaki with crispy fins, thick skin, and crispy fins are cooked on the spot. They use red bean paste from Hokkaido. The taiyaki has a shape like a fish rising from a single volume book, and the taiyaki with matcha red bean filling is always sold out. Last time I took it home, it got a bit soggy, but this time it's moist. The difference might be due to the weather. Also, their brag-worthy dango is secretly delicious. It doesn't get hard even when taken home, and although it may not look great, the burnt soy sauce flavor is just right.

I went because I wanted to eat matcha taiyaki, but it was sold out, so I ended up having regular taiyaki instead. The skin was thin and crispy, and very delicious. There was a generous amount of filling, but it was not too sweet, so it was easy to eat. I want to visit earlier next time before it sells out in the morning.
