It was my first visit to this place I've always wanted to try as I passed by. Located about a 1-minute walk from Shinjuku Station, the prominent signs display "Morning" and "Beer." Reviews I checked mentioned delicious bread, sausages, and lots of emphasis on beer. Visiting around 11 AM on a weekday, the place was about 70% full. There were standing counter seats and two-person tables. COVID-19 precautions, such as mask-wearing and no loud talking, were still evident.
The ordering counter was near the kitchen, giving it a standing soba shop vibe. I ordered the "Hot Dog Brunch" for 605 yen, and it was served within about 3 minutes. I chose hot coffee as my drink. The recommended option for hot dogs was without seasoning, so I ordered it that way. The main hot dog had a satisfying texture when bitten, with a burst of meat juices each time. The bread was perfectly toasted, with a delightful aroma and rich wheat flavor. The recommendation for no seasoning made sense. The sides included half a soft-boiled egg, potato salad, and corn, giving a simple morning feel. Everything was decent but in a comforting way. The soft-boiled egg had a runny yolk, the corn was sweet without any skin residue, and the potato salad, with added lettuce, was moist and had a pronounced mayonnaise flavor.
The simplicity of it all felt warm and cozy. The coffee was particularly delicious – refreshing acidity, sweet aroma, a hint of bitterness, and well-balanced. With just bread and coffee, it was already satisfying. Considering the price, it's easy to see why it's popular. The sausage used is a gold award winner from the IFFA Ham & Sausage Contest in Germany. The bread also has its own uniqueness. Enjoying a beer with this sausage must be a great experience. Coming back for just one drink on the way home seems like a good idea. Yes, it's a great place. Thank you for the meal.
