Today, I made a reservation for a friend's first Dolcetta experience. I will order individually wrapped financiers for them, but if they want freshly baked financiers and canelés, they will have to go to the store. The store is located near Ebisu Station, but there is a gentle slope to get there, which can be tough on hot days. There were 4 people inside the store and 3 people waiting outside, so it was quite busy. Some people were looking for gelato and drinks, but I wish they would separate walk-in customers from those picking up reservations. After all, those who make reservations come on time, so it would be nice if they were given priority. I ordered 2 boxes of individually wrapped financiers, 3 freshly baked financiers, and 3 canelés. It's recommended to consume the freshly baked financiers and canelés on the same day, which is a bit inconvenient as you can't buy them all together. This is where Ginza Kou's canelés are more convenient. You can buy just one if you want, which is probably because they value the texture of freshly baked goods. I also tried one after a long time. The canelé is medium-sized, with a crispy outer texture. It has a faint rum aroma, a slightly restrained sweetness, and a dry interior. It's a classic canelé. Recently, there has been a trend for various flavors such as chocolate, and some places offer canelés with a custard center. There are also shops where you can have it with gelato or dip it in a drink, etc. There are too many canelé shops in Tokyo. Many of them look like canelés but end up being disappointing. After the meal, when I handed over the financiers and canelés to my friend, I noticed that their eyes were wandering... I wonder what it could be? Could it be that... I actually don't like canelés... and I honestly admitted it ^^; I like people who are honest and don't lie. That's right... not many people have a good impression of canelés, right? If you'd like, please try at least a bite. The next day, I received a very polite message saying that the canelé tasted completely different from the first one I had tried, and I felt embarrassed for saying I didn't like canelés... I'm glad that my friend, whose taste in food matches mine perfectly, seemed to be okay with it... It's probably an experience that everyone goes through, influenced by fake canelés from bakeries. Many people find the texture and aftertaste of custard canelés to be not that great... For a slightly upscale gift, I recommend Dolcetta. The popular financiers are great, and the canelés are also good. If you choose the wrong person to give it to, it could ruin the experience, but the same goes for choosing the wrong person to receive it... You have to be careful with gifts and treats (^_-)
