This day we visited Jiyugaoka, Kuhonbutsu, Todoroki, and Uenomori areas. Do you know about the "Rikyu Gundam"? I thought I was pretty familiar with Gundam, but I tend to overlook the SD series, so I didn't know about it. Well, the SD series seems to be quite versatile. Just like Fate/Grand Order with all those historical figures. In the "Sangokuden" series based on the Three Kingdoms, there is a Sima Yi Destiny Gundam... At this point, you might be thinking, "What in the world!?" And then, this Sima Yi Gundam transforms into a figure known as Rikyu Gundam... It's beyond comprehension. But the design of the mobile suit itself, with a mix of green and gray, gives off a sense of "wabi-sabi". I kind of want it... Now, this is "Rikyu". A small patisserie located in Jiyugaoka. Well, it's more like a cake shop than a patisserie. It's a charming shop that blends into the town. When it comes to patisseries in Jiyugaoka, there are renowned places like "Paris Seveille" and "Mont St. Clair", but this one has its own unique style. It's only open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, making it a bit challenging to visit. Inside the shop, there is only one cake showcase. There are about 10 types of cakes available. They don't seem to make a lot, so be careful as they might sell out. I was able to choose without much trouble, as they weren't close to selling out. Here's what I had: - Double Cheese: A rare cheesecake on top and a baked double cheese cake on the bottom. Smooth and rich rare cheesecake. The baked one is denser. A well-balanced combination that you can eat as many as you want. - Gateau Chocolat: A rich chocolate sponge cake with fresh cream and a single strawberry on top. The intense chocolate flavor with a soft sponge texture. The bitter chocolate chips inside add a nice touch. - Pumpkin Pie: Mashed pumpkin cream with a slice of pumpkin on top, wrapped in pie crust. It's almost all pumpkin. The right amount of sweetness from the pumpkin, with a hint of citrus acidity on top. - Mont Blanc: A chestnut on top surrounded by chestnut cream. In the center, there is fresh cream on a sponge base. The chestnut cream is quite rich and the sponge is firm. - Chocolate Tree: A Christmas tree-shaped baked good made mainly of chocolate with crushed nuts added. Milky chocolate with crunchy nuts. - Hīragi: Shaped like holly leaves. Fluffy. Light and airy buttery flavor. Since it's takeout only, I had the cakes in a nearby park. It was freezing cold, but I guess that's part of the "wabi-sabi" experience. Thank you for the meal!
