This day we visited Jiyugaoka, Kuhonbutsu, Todoroki, and Uenomori areas. Do you know about the "Rikyu Gundam"? I thought I was pretty familiar with Gundam, but I tend to overlook the SD series, so I didn't know about it. Well, the SD series seems to be quite versatile. Just like Fate/Grand Order with all those historical figures. In the "Sangokuden" series based on the Three Kingdoms, there is a Sima Yi Destiny Gundam... At this point, you might be thinking, "What in the world!?" And then, this Sima Yi Gundam transforms into a figure known as Rikyu Gundam... It's beyond comprehension. But the design of the mobile suit itself, with a mix of green and gray, gives off a sense of "wabi-sabi". I kind of want it... Now, this is "Rikyu". A small patisserie located in Jiyugaoka. Well, it's more like a cake shop than a patisserie. It's a charming shop that blends into the town. When it comes to patisseries in Jiyugaoka, there are renowned places like "Paris Seveille" and "Mont St. Clair", but this one has its own unique style. It's only open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, making it a bit challenging to visit. Inside the shop, there is only one cake showcase. There are about 10 types of cakes available. They don't seem to make a lot, so be careful as they might sell out. I was able to choose without much trouble, as they weren't close to selling out. Here's what I had: - Double Cheese: A rare cheesecake on top and a baked double cheese cake on the bottom. Smooth and rich rare cheesecake. The baked one is denser. A well-balanced combination that you can eat as many as you want. - Gateau Chocolat: A rich chocolate sponge cake with fresh cream and a single strawberry on top. The intense chocolate flavor with a soft sponge texture. The bitter chocolate chips inside add a nice touch. - Pumpkin Pie: Mashed pumpkin cream with a slice of pumpkin on top, wrapped in pie crust. It's almost all pumpkin. The right amount of sweetness from the pumpkin, with a hint of citrus acidity on top. - Mont Blanc: A chestnut on top surrounded by chestnut cream. In the center, there is fresh cream on a sponge base. The chestnut cream is quite rich and the sponge is firm. - Chocolate Tree: A Christmas tree-shaped baked good made mainly of chocolate with crushed nuts added. Milky chocolate with crunchy nuts. - Hīragi: Shaped like holly leaves. Fluffy. Light and airy buttery flavor. Since it's takeout only, I had the cakes in a nearby park. It was freezing cold, but I guess that's part of the "wabi-sabi" experience. Thank you for the meal!

It's Nanjing, right? I climbed the hill and made my way to Rikyu for the first time in a while. I chose the next dish made with seasonal ingredients. [Pumpkin cake, ¥480] Tomorrow is Halloween. Will Shibuya's scramble intersection be taken over by excited cosplayers again this year (lol)? Leaving that aside, I cut it vertically and took a bite. The pumpkin has a firm and moist texture. The aroma of butter in the dough brings out the richness of the flavor.

This is a shop located in a quiet residential area a short walk south of Jiyugaoka Station. The yellow building has a small art gallery-like atmosphere. Inside, there are cakes and other sweets on display. The showcase is small with small portions of each item. I heard that they are only open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays because they make everything by hand and in limited quantities. I bought a Mont Blanc cake which was recommended as freshly made. The freshness of the cream was outstanding and the quality of ingredients like chestnuts was great. It's a sincerely handmade cake. I also bought a marmalade made with no preservatives, just like homemade. There isn't even a label on the jar, giving it an authentic feel. I'm looking forward to enjoying it for breakfast tomorrow.

Located in a residential area a short walk from the station, this small shop features cakes made with seasonal fruits and vegetables. Their cheesecake is rich and dense, with a refreshing lactic acidity that comes through along with a hint of sweetness. The overall impression is a mature flavor profile with a restrained sweetness and a prominent acidity. [Address] 5-39-14 Okusawa, Setagaya-ku, Tokyo [Date of Visit] Sunny day [Number of People in Line] 0 [Wait Time] 0 minutes [Ordered Items] - Double Cheese Cake 500 yen (tax included): A thin white layer on top, a cream-colored layer underneath, and a cookie base at the bottom. - Summer Orange Tart 480 yen (tax included)

I walked a little from Jiyugaoka Station to a cake shop in a residential area. Unfortunately, the Double Cheesecake was sold out, but I bought the "Summer Orange Tart" for 480 yen (including 8% tax) and the "Edamame Cake" (including 8% tax). The Edamame Cake had a rich texture and flavor, very delicious! The Summer Orange Tart was as refreshing and tasty as it looked, my favorite flavor!

The memory was always somewhere in my mind, but I didn't get a chance to visit until now. Looking back at my Tabelog page, I realized my last review was over 5 years ago. I visited once during this time, but didn't review it then. [Double Cheesecake, ¥500] It's a very simple dessert. A baked cheesecake with a layer of rare cheesecake on top. It's delicious! Overall: I'll make sure to visit again soon without waiting too long!

🍋 Lemon Cookie ¥170 A crispy cookie with a hint of lemon and butter flavor. The butter taste is slightly stronger than the lemon, giving it a nice aroma. It's subtly sweet and thick, providing a satisfying bite. Perfect as a snack with tea.

There seems to be a slope for wheelchair and baby stroller access. I heard that the restaurant will reopen on January 28th for the new year 2022. My daughter wanted to have an Eve date, so we hurried to visit after work on the 25th. We wanted to share a small cake, so we bought one each. Christmas is special for us because two of our dogs have birthdays, so we went to a dog-friendly restaurant to have a meal together. Since pets are not allowed here, my grandma is waiting outside while we make the purchase. The pumpkin cake has a natural sweetness that spreads throughout your mouth with each bite. The cheesecake is rich yet not too sweet, making it guilt-free to eat. I looked it up and found out that the pastry chef here was a famous person who used to work at the Crayon House in Yoyogi, which I reviewed before. No wonder the desserts are delicious. Thank you for the meal. I will visit again.

I had made a reservation for takeout in Jiyugaoka, and while searching for a cake shop, I came across this store! The overall sweetness of the fresh sweets cakes was enveloped in kindness. The sweets were fresh and cost-effective, so I would like to repeat again. [Ordered Menu] ・Strawberry Bavarois Cake 480 yen Repeat ○The strawberry was fresh, gently wrapped in bavarois, and had a soothing taste. I haven't had bavarois cake much, but it wasn't too sweet and was very delicious. My child also really liked it. Yuzu Tart 470 yen Repeat ○A refreshing scent of yuzu in this dish. It was also not too sweet and had a soothing taste. It matched well with the tart and was delicious. [Menu for children] ・Strawberry Bavarois Cake ・Yuzu Tart

Visited for takeout on a weekday afternoon. The location is between Jiyugaoka and Okusawa, making it a convenient stop for a stroll in Jiyugaoka on a sunny day. While there are countless cake shops around Jiyugaoka station, this place is definitely worth a visit. The menu is clearly displayed on a sign outside the shop, making it easy to choose. Inside, the friendly female owner greeted me and explained that everything is handmade. I was torn between the various cakes displayed in the glass case. *Tarte Tatin: The red color comes from using red apples with the skin on when making the apple compote. *Gateau Chocolat: A moist and lightly sweet chocolate cake topped with cream and fruits. *Double Cheesecake: A combination of baked and rare cheesecake layers. *Petit Cheesecake: Small cheesecakes in muffin cup-like paper cups, perfect for a quick treat. All the cakes had a subtle sweetness and were made without any unnecessary frills. I personally loved this simple and heartfelt approach. The sweets were comforting and I would love to try more varieties in the future.

Recently, using high-quality ingredients in sweets has become commonplace in Jiyugaoka, and I strongly feel that many places there have lost the overall balance. I believe that the presence of whipped cream should not overshadow the sweetness of the fruit, and of course, there are sweets where the intense flavor of cocoa (chocolate) kills the presence of other ingredients used together. I feel that these kinds of sweets are really increasing. However, here at Rikyu, I feel that all the ingredients are carefully balanced to enhance the presence of fruits and other ingredients without being too overpowering. Today, I tried the newly added Strawberry Mont Blanc, and the perfect balance really enhances the flavor of the strawberries along with the other ingredients.

I used to think that Tarte Tatin was a rich apple dessert, but the Tarte Tatin here highlights the sweet and sour flavor of the apples in a fresh way. It's really delicious and I love it. The Strawberry Shortcake uses crushed strawberries in the cream without artificial coloring, creating a gentle sweetness that pairs well with the fluffy sponge. Both cakes are made with high-quality ingredients, without any strange aftertaste, making it safe for children to enjoy. The cakes are priced at ¥480 and ¥470 each. The swirl cookies are just average. The staff members are friendly and the shop is located in a residential area a short walk from Jiyugaoka Station. I would definitely like to buy from here again. Takeout only.

It's a completely residential area. As soon as you step off the main street in Jiyugaoka, you'll find large houses everywhere. In the midst of them stands a quiet cake shop. It's a small shop, but filled with cakes and gateaux. Oh, it's so hard to choose. The pumpkin cake is packed with pumpkin flavor, just like it looks. The sweetness of the pumpkin and the homemade feel are evident. The lemon cake is refreshing, with a generous amount. And the fruit tart is bursting with fresh fruit. There's nothing particularly fancy or flashy about them. But each one is made with care. The homemade goodness really comes through. It felt good to know about this place, like a little secret.

[November 2018] I revisited this place after about 2 years. I was craving for a fruit cake. From the cakes lined up in the case, I chose an Fig Tart for 470 yen and a Tarte Tatin for 470 yen to take home. I enjoyed them with a delicious coffee right away. These cakes really bring out the deliciousness of the fruits, and the balance with the tart crust and cream is great. The hidden gem vibe due to the obscure location adds to the charm of this place. I think it's a place worth checking out. Thank you for the meal.

The cake shop in the neighborhood has a limited selection, but it has a nice homemade feel and doesn't put any strange ingredients. While fancy cakes are delicious, this type is also delicious. I want to come back to buy more!

Pumpkin seed Florentine, fig cookies, and my favorite snack with walnuts stuffed in it (I forgot the name, but it's that crispy snack that is tightly packed and concentrated, found in many places!)

It's been a while since my second visit. This time I had Mont Blanc and Fig Tart. The Mont Blanc had a roll cake base with a fluffy sponge, and the inside was filled with plenty of whipped cream. The tart had a firm crust but a soft texture, with a simple sweetness from the figs and cream. The whipped cream was light, making it easy to eat. Overall, it was a gentle and elegant dessert.
