I've been to the main store of Aono before, but it was quite far from the station, so I've decided to start using the Akasaka Mitsuke store from now on. I bought a schedule book at the end of the year and wrote down "Reservation for Aono's chilled mitarashi" in the May section. And now, it's May. When I checked Aono's website, the weekends in June were already marked as fully booked. Everyone is so quick with information! I managed to make a reservation. The chilled mitarashi is limited to 3 boxes per person. When I went on the reservation date, they politely turned away those who suddenly visited the shop. I brought my own bag, but they asked to carry the chilled mitarashi horizontally as the sauce might drip, so they put it in Aono's paper bag for me. The water daifuku and chilled mitarashi are made with tapioca flour so they can be refrigerated. But the water daifuku needs to be eaten today. Oh, tapioca flour is used? I see. The lemon daifuku and bean daifuku can be eaten tomorrow, but since they are made with mochi, they shouldn't be refrigerated. Today's purchases: Lemon Daifuku - Seasonal limited edition? Surprisingly, it's all about lemon! It's sour! The lemon-flavored anko is slightly sour, but not too sweet, so it tastes sour! It also has lemon peel in it, which adds a slight bitterness and a popping texture. I really like this! I'll buy it again next year. Chilled Mitarashi - The tapioca flour makes it smooth and soft even when chilled. But the best part is the mitarashi sauce. It's incredibly delicious. It's so tempting with a generous amount of sauce. When freshly opened, the soy sauce flavor stands out, but if you leave it for a while, it blends in and the strong taste disappears. This is definitely a hit. The size is just right and perfect for gifts. Water Daifuku - I chilled it in the fridge at home before eating. The scent of bamboo leaves is light. The mochi is milky white. Perhaps because it contains tapioca, it's chewy. The first thing you taste is saltiness. Inside is red bean paste. The skin of the red beans makes a crunchy sound. Personally, I prefer fu manju if they look similar. Bean Daifuku - The famous bean daifuku loved by Steve Jobs (laughs). You can't help but buy it when you go there. The anko is delicious as always. Those who like coarse red bean paste should try it. I feel like the anko was lighter when I bought it in winter. Am I imagining things? The mochi is still soft the next day if left at room temperature without refrigerating. I really like the chilled mitarashi. The sauce is delicious when it's ice-cold. It would be great if it were more easily accessible.

I couldn't eat the chilled mitarashi without a net reservation. It's a chilled mitarashi dango. I've been curious about it for a long time, and since July, I've been checking the website over and over again, but it always says "sold out". Sold out... I was about to give up, but then, during my free time, I happened to check the site and saw a single day marked with a triangle symbol! "I probably won't get it, right?" "Huh?... Huh?... Huh?!" I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me and had to look three times! I usually eat mochi on the same day, but on the day I bought this, I only had time in the evening, so I bought it and enjoyed it the next day. The next day, when I opened the box, it was so beautiful! Neatly arranged, and oh!! So, I took a picture. Then, I was amazed again when I removed the Seraphin? on top! The shine is sparkling! It's beautiful! I took many pictures! When I finally tasted it, since it's not pierced on a stick, it's easy to eat and you can take one piece at a time. Easy to take. And despite being the second day, it was still chewy, fluffy, and smooth... I thought, I can't get a reservation for this... Of course, it's a bit pricey at 920 yen! But I would definitely buy it!! I actually wanted to buy it as a gift for someone I'm grateful for, but since it's completely reservation-based and hard to get a reservation, once I know the available date, I want to schedule my own plans! I'll try hard to make a reservation again! And next time, I want to try the lemon daifuku that caught my eye. Oh, but it seems to be a summer limited edition, so maybe next year... Thank you for the meal!!

The shop was crowded with customers who came to pick up cold mitarashi. We bought grass dango for 220 yen, sesame mangetsu for 220 yen, shiratama for 250 yen, lemon daifuku for 250 yen, bean daifuku for 250 yen, and mizu daifuku for 250 yen, and enjoyed comparing them with my mother and grandmother. The shop is very popular for its cold mitarashi, but among the ones we bought this time, the sesame mangetsu was by far the most delicious! It may be a bit pricey, but I would like to have it with my family again on Respect for the Aged Day.

I had been curious about the chilled mitarashi dango for a while. It's a popular item that requires reservations and sells out quickly. Even though it was already sold out for the month, I kept checking the reservation site for cancellations, and managed to secure a reservation for a weekday afternoon. I finally got my hands on the chilled mitarashi dango! I tried it after chilling it well, and the sauce on the dango was exquisite!! And the dango itself was so soft and chewy, it was delicious!! It's a summer limited item that's hard to get a reservation for, but I definitely want to purchase it again!

I tried some mitarashi dango that I received as a souvenir. It was my first time trying this kind of mitarashi dango, and it was the most impressive one I've had so far! I always thought mitarashi dango was supposed to be chewy, but this one had a chewy texture as well as a mochi-like texture, which was innovative. It seems like you can now make phone reservations as well.

I visited the store around 13:50 on a Saturday. I made a reservation by phone on July 15, the reservation start date for August, to purchase the "cold mitarashi" available only by reservation. I also purchased from the main store on August 5, but why did I make a reservation at the main store, which is not easily accessible for me? I chose to pick up the following reservation here. Upon leaving Akasaka-Mitsuke Station, I found a small store that seemed to be only half the size of the main store, with about three customers already inside. It's a small place, but convenient being close to the station. ★Cold Mitarashi ¥972 x3 This time, I shared two boxes with my sister-in-law's family who live nearby, and my family consumed only one box. After two weeks, enjoying the cold mitarashi again in the harsh heat provided a comforting moment for both body and mind. Even when thoroughly chilled in the refrigerator, the soft and fluffy dumplings and the smooth and creamy sweet bean paste were fundamentally different from just cooling off, offering a distinct deliciousness. I wonder if it would be possible to make it even more delicious by properly grilling the dumplings to give them a browned color and aroma? I thought about buying other sweets like kuzumochi for a taste comparison, but I gave up because there were various souvenirs and leftovers at home. Those will be saved for another enjoyable time. It was well-received by both us and my sister-in-law's family, so it looks like we'll have to make a reservation again next May.

When you come to Akasaka Mitsuke, one place you must visit is Akasaka Aono (Akasaka Mitsuke branch), known for its famous Akasaka mochi. Today, feeling a bit hot after having a tempura bowl, I decided to buy the "Azuki Flowing Kanten" dessert for a refreshing treat. This summer, their "Chilled Mitarashi" is a popular item, but requires a web reservation, so I'll try that another time. Opening the box at home, I found a smooth and moist square-shaped dessert. It appeared to have a lot of moisture and a light texture. Using the provided spoon, I found it to be more elastic than expected. Cutting a small square and lifting it up, surprisingly it held its shape and I could transfer it to a small plate without falling apart. It seems the effect of bracken starch is significant. The texture is like a mix of silken tofu and konjac jelly, with a chewy feel. The sweetness is subtle. It has a great throat feel, with a cooling sensation that's perfect for midsummer. The mild sweetness makes it easy to eat it all. Overall, I am very satisfied with this dessert. After being relieved from the heat, I only have one regret - I should have bought the Akasaka mochi too. (laughs)

I stopped by when I went to Akasaka. It seems to be quite a popular shop as there were people who had made reservations and purchased items. I bought warabi mochi. They told me to refrigerate it for 30 minutes before eating, so I chilled it and had it. It had red bean paste inside and was delicious. Mitarashi dango also seems to be popular, so I will try that next time. Thank you for the meal.

[Date] Visited alone on a weekday at 12:00. [Reservation] Made a reservation online. The cold mitarashi is by reservation only. Checked the reservation site on a whim and found a same-day cancellation. [Location] Located about a 0-minute walk from Akasaka-Mitsuke Station, at the foot of Big Camera. [Interior] Takeout only. Small quantities of daifuku and other items are available for purchase. They also offer sets that can be taken as gifts. [Order] - The cold mitarashi is incredibly delicious!! It was a hot day, so I chilled it in the fridge and then enjoyed it. The dango was chewy but not hard even when cold, which was surprising. It seems to have tapioca flour in it. The mitarashi sauce was thick and not too sweet. It coated the dango nicely. Thank you for the meal! This is definitely something you should try at least once. [Service] The staff were efficient and friendly. [Final thoughts] The dango stays chewy even when chilled! Highly recommend the cold mitarashi!

I was interested in trying the chilled mitarashi dessert. I had a faint hope that there might be some leftovers. However, I was out of luck. It seems to be a popular item that is difficult to reserve. Since I was already there, I decided to purchase the black bean and kinako warabi mochi for 1,500 yen. The warabi mochi was neatly packed in a square box, generously coated with kinako powder, making it quite challenging to divide. I struggled with the flying kinako and the extremely stretchy warabi mochi. It seemed like cutting it into about four pieces would be just right. The warabi mochi had a good elasticity and a smooth texture, paired with a fragrant and rich kinako flavor. It was unique to have red bean paste inside. It was a delicious warabi mochi. It's also convenient for transportation as it can be stored at room temperature. I will definitely try the chilled mitarashi next time, as I promised myself.

I finally got my hands on the "Chilled Mitarashi" from Akasaka Aono-san that I had been wanting to try for a year. You can only purchase it by reservation, and it seems like they do not sell it in stores. Reservations for the following month can be made in the middle of the month through their website. Unfortunately, all the dates in July were fully booked for me, so I was planning to make a reservation for August. However, when I checked on a different day, I was able to make a reservation for July, so I went to buy it. The store is located at Akasaka Mitsuke. When I entered the store, the words "Lemon Daifuku" caught my eye, and I thought about buying it, but it was sold out. What a shame. The chilled Mitarashi has a shelf life until the next day. It comes in a pack of 12. The chewy and smooth texture of the dango combined with the chilled Mitarashi sauce is delicious. It's a perfect sweet for summer, and I finished it in no time. At first, I thought the Mitarashi sauce was a bit strong, but as I continued eating, I thought it was just right. I want to try it again next year. I also want to try other traditional Japanese sweets like Lemon Daifuku and Warabi Mochi. Thank you for the meal.

Elegant sweets. As expected from Akasaka, the combination of mochi and walnuts creates a delightful texture, with a generous amount of kinako adding a touch of luxury. Different from Fukuoka's Chikushi mochi, the difference lies in the honey and walnut. Personally, I think it would be delicious to drizzle black honey on top. Perhaps they don't add it because it would diminish the walnut flavor?

Perfect for souvenirs in Akasaka, one box is just right! I need to buy another box for home too. I thought they were individually wrapped, but they are on one sheet. You have to eat them right away after opening the bag! I transferred them to an airtight container in the fridge. The elegant taste remained delicious. However, individually wrapped would probably be more appreciated as a souvenir gift.

In Akasaka, there is a famous traditional Japanese sweets shop called "Aono." Their popular summer item is the "Chilled Mitarashi," which went viral on social media last year. Starting this year, you can only make reservations online through the store's website or Instagram. The reservations for June were sold out quickly, and when the reservations for July opened on June 17th, almost half were already sold out. I finally found a day to make a reservation and managed to reserve 2 items (you can buy up to 3 per person). After completing the reservation, you will receive a confirmation email with a reservation number. You can make reservations at all Aono stores: Akasaka Honten, Akasaka Mitsuke, Sakasu, Tamachi, and Benkei Bridge. Only Akasaka Mitsuke store is open on Sundays. The reservation screen will show ✖️ if not available and ○ if available. Akasaka Honten is about a 5-minute walk from Akasaka Station, while Akasaka Mitsuke Station is a bit farther, so I recommend reserving at the Akasaka Mitsuke store near the station. The day before the reservation, you will receive a confirmation email from the store. Since my reservation was in the afternoon, I left Akasaka Mitsuke Station a little after 12 and arrived at the store immediately. There was only one customer ahead of me, and after stating my reservation number and name, I received the items and paid 1944 yen for 2 chilled Mitarashi. Since the items need to be kept cold, it is recommended to bring a cooler box. As I left the store, there were already 5 customers waiting in line. The service from reservation confirmation to product guidance, payment, and farewell was very polite. The chilled Mitarashi comes in a box of 12 pieces with a 2-day shelf life. The dumplings are generously coated with a sweet and savory sauce. Be careful when carrying the product as the sauce may spill when tilted. The cold dumplings with the sweet and savory sauce were a delightful treat. The use of tapioca flour prevents them from becoming hard even when chilled. I finished all 12 pieces over 2 days and even enjoyed the leftover sauce on bread. It was delicious. If you want to try it, make a reservation for September as August reservations may already be full. Enjoy your meal!

I reserved and purchased the chilled mitarashi dango for the first time. The staff explained to me to make sure to eat it chilled. Even when chilled, it is still chewy and delicious. It's highly recommended even though it's hard to make a reservation. The expiration date is two days.

This is warabi mochi. Sometimes I crave it. The warabi mochi here comes with sweet red bean paste, which may be a hit or miss for some, but I really like it. The mildly sweet red bean paste pairs well with the nice texture of the warabi mochi. It costs 1500 yen per box, which is a bit on the higher side for warabi mochi. However, I think it's a decent value considering it's a good amount for 2-3 people. There's also a generous amount of kinako (roasted soybean flour) sprinkled on top. It's perfect when enjoyed with Japanese green tea. I haven't tried their famous chilled mitarashi yet. Thank you for the meal.

Takeout ■ Cold Mitarashi ¥972 (tax included) Not skewered, cold Mitarashi. With an attractive visual in a wooden box, this summer limited edition "cold Mitarashi" from the long-established Japanese confectionery store "Akasaka Aono," which has a history of about 120 years, is buzzing on social media. The "cold Mitarashi" has become popular with long lines, and is now only available by reservation. Reservations for the following month are periodically opened on the website below. By the way, you can purchase up to 3 pieces per person. https://aa-hiya-mita.site/ Our store, with 5 locations including the main store in Akasaka, Akasaka Mitsuke store, Akasaka Sakas store, Tameike Sanno store, and Benkei Bridge store, is at the center of attention. This time, I made a reservation at the Akasaka Mitsuke store about a month ago. The Akasaka Mitsuke store is very convenient to access, located just outside Akasaka Mitsuke station. I told my name at the store and paid. One box is ¥972 including tax. When I got home and tried it, there were 12 bite-sized dumplings lined up vertically in 3 rows and horizontally in 4 rows. The dumplings have a stretchy and smooth texture, more like jelly than dumplings. They are made with tapioca flour. However, it was a bit different from what I had imagined and somewhat disappointing. The Mitarashi sauce is not too salty or spicy, but rather on the sweeter side. I personally prefer Mitarashi that is grilled. However, it will surely be appreciated as a souvenir or gift.

When I go to Akasaka, I always stop by at Aosan. Today, I had their water yokan (red bean and matcha flavor) and their baked Mont Blanc, which I almost always buy. The water yokan not only tastes delicious but also has a smooth texture and a shiny appearance (I wish my skin looked this smooth, haha), making it a sensory delight. The baked Mont Blanc has a perfect balance of Japanese and Western flavors. I always appreciate the traditional charm of the staff whenever I visit.

This is the Aono Akasaka Mitsuke store located right by the exit of Akasaka Mitsuke station. This store is the closest to the station, making it the most convenient location. Now, the extremely popular chilled mitarashi (sweet soy sauce) dumplings are only available for pre-order online this year. You cannot purchase them at the store on the day. Each person can reserve up to 3 boxes, and the price for one box is 972 yen for both morning and afternoon reservations at each store. I pre-ordered these chilled mitarashi dumplings 2-3 weeks ago, and when I opened them at home, I found the dumplings filled to the brim with smooth sweet soy sauce. The dumplings were cold, soft, and had a smooth texture. Hmm, they are delicious. The filling is packed with a wonderful sweet and salty flavor! It's so tasty. Although reservations are required, it's actually convenient because you don't have to wait in line and you are guaranteed to get them. The reservation stores are Aono Akasaka Honten, Akasaka Mitsuke store, Sakasu store, Tameike store, and Benkei Bridge store, with Akasaka Mitsuke store open on Sundays. You can make reservations on the website linked below. If there is a circle (○), it means reservations are available. Keep an eye out for cancellations, as spots may open up occasionally. I plan to purchase them in the future, so I recommend making reservations early. They come neatly packaged in individual bags with spoons, making them a unique and delightful summer treat that would make a great gift. Thank you for the delicious meal.

At the end of May and just into June, I received a gift and also bought some snacks for myself. I noticed that the patterns on the bags they put the snacks in were different, which made me a little excited and happy. I bought a variety of snacks. Since there was a lot of positive feedback when I gave some as gifts, I wanted to try them myself. The flavors of the fillings change with the seasons, and right now it's ginger filling. I want to try all the flavors. Thank you for the delicious treats. Thank you very much.

I love the name of the store so much that I always ask for recommendations when preparing to shop. I wanted to express my gratitude. Also, "toridori" uses seasonal ginger paste. While there is no gratitude in retail, you can purchase just one piece from toridori. Every time I think about it, the staff's thoughtfulness is kind and subtle, making me feel warm when shopping. After receiving the items, I take a commemorative photo of what's left. Thank you very much.
