I visited this shop located about a 5-minute walk from Machida Station. I arrived around 11 am on a weekday. Despite being quite early, the shop already had a few customers besides myself. The shop, although considered a long-established one, looked quite new (perhaps renovated) and accepted various electronic payments and QR code payments. I purchased a daifuku, dorayaki, and kamon. The total price for the three items was 500 yen including tax, which was quite reasonable. The dorayaki had a different shelf life depending on the skin, and I received one that was good until the next day. Upon tasting, I found the overall sweetness to be moderate and not overwhelming, with a traditional touch. The daifuku had a slightly firm and thick skin, allowing the mochi flavor to come through, while the sweet bean paste inside had a subtle sweetness but a strong aroma, leaving a lasting impression. The dorayaki had a unique chewy texture with a perfectly matched sweet bean paste inside, unlike any I had tasted before. The kamon was a unique dish with a slightly restrained sweetness, making it enjoyable without being too heavy. The quality of taste for the price was quite high, making it a shop worth revisiting.

This is a unique shop in Machida, a town known for its many drinking establishments. It has a strong sense of tradition and nostalgia. I visited for the first time since my student days. I used to buy their "suama" sweets a lot back then. On this day, I tried their summer specialty menu, a chilled agar jelly dessert called "kinngyoku." It was subtly sweet with a hint of red bean paste. It's nice to indulge in traditional Japanese sweets like this once in a while. Thank you for the meal.

The sweet treats at this place have a traditional touch but are not overly sweet, making them easy to enjoy. The texture is chewy and not too sticky, with a good bite. You can distinctly taste the rice, maybe a blend with joshinko flour. The bean paste in the daifuku and kusa mochi is not too sweet, but has a strong aroma and a noticeable bean texture. The soy sauce on the grilled dango is rich but well-balanced. The dango itself is firm with a good bite. The suama is subtly sweet and very soft, with a good bite.

Established in 1933. Previously, when you mentioned Nakano-ya in Machida, there were two: Nakano-ya for parfaits and Nakano-ya for traditional Japanese sweets, but the Nakano-ya for parfaits has closed down, so now only the Nakano-ya for traditional Japanese sweets remains. They offer both smooth and chunky red bean paste for their bean daifuku and kusa mochi, which is nice to have a choice. This time, I purchased their sweet soy sauce-flavored dango mitarashi dango. The packaging with a clover leaf design is cute. When I tried it, the texture of the dango was completely different! It was firm and chewy, almost like mochi. The sauce was quite thick and gooey. A traditional Japanese sweets shop. I hope they continue to thrive for a long time.

A traditional Japanese confectionery shop in Machida's bustling district. While walking, I was drawn to the display case containing "suama." I bought suama, "mame-mochi," and "mizu-manju." The mame-mochi was incredibly soft and delicious, despite being not very sweet. The mizu-manju was decent, with a nice level of sweetness. The suama was also soft, sweet, and delicious.

【Nakano-ya Confectionery】I visited this traditional Japanese sweets shop in Machida after a long time. It was a Saturday, so the store was crowded with customers! The showcase was filled with a variety of Japanese sweets. When I placed my order with the staff, she wrapped everything up with surprising efficiency. - Grilled rice cake (mitarashi) 1 piece for 80 yen - Ohagi (red bean paste) 190 yen - Mochi with bean paste filling 140 yen They had grilled rice cakes available in packs of 2 and 5, so I got two packs of 2. I also bought one each of ohagi and mochi with bean paste filling, opting for bean paste filling for my mother who prefers it. I personally prefer smooth bean paste! I was happy to see both options available. The grilled rice cake had a nice grilled texture, and the sweet and savory sauce was rich and delicious - I could almost just eat the sauce alone. It was generously coated in sauce, so I enjoyed dipping the rice cake in it. I didn't try the ohagi and mochi with bean paste filling, but the fact that the mochi has been a specialty for 90 years shows their dedication to quality. I look forward to trying the mochi for myself next time!

The lineup of products at this traditional Japanese confectionery shop is so tempting that it's hard to decide what to choose. In mid-May, they had offerings like oak leaf-shaped rice cakes, grass cakes, and even a not-too-sweet seaweed roll. After much deliberation, I ended up buying a seaweed roll, grass cake with sweet bean paste, sweet red bean jelly, and bean cake. The seaweed roll had a nice aroma of seaweed when I opened the case, and the texture was just right. The sweet red bean jelly and bean cake were soft and had a simple, satisfying flavor. The grass cake had a distinct green color, likely from mugwort, and the bean paste inside was not overly sweet, allowing me to enjoy it guilt-free.

I had delicious ramen and wanted to buy a popular souvenir, but couldn't find the store. Anyway, I went to another store for souvenirs. There was a variety of products with both smooth and chunky red bean pastes. I like both, so I randomly bought some products. The soft and stretchy mochi (probably bean rice cake) my husband wanted was surprisingly soft and stretchy! It was delicious even without any flavor (my husband thought it was sweet, but I thought it was salty). The red bean paste and mochi in the red bean paste mochi were delicious with a moderate sweetness. The dorayaki had a chewy skin and was very tasty. When I got home, I regretted not buying both smooth and chunky red bean paste versions of the same product. But Machida is an interesting town with many shops I want to visit, so let's go play again sometime. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal. Red bean paste mochi (smooth), dorayaki (chunky), stretchy mochi, kusa mochi (smooth) Total 570 yen (including tax).

I revisited the place and this time I tried the sweet bean paste mochi and grass mochi, which were very comforting. My subordinate had never tried sweet bean paste mochi before, so I bought some for them. It was slightly sweet, chewy, and soft, making it a delightful treat. Not too sweet, so you could easily eat several pieces. It goes perfectly with warm tea. Definitely worth a try.

I used to work in Machida before around 1:30 p.m. on Saturdays, and although I passed by the shop every day, I had never bought anything. I ate on the stairs in the square where there is always a lot of customers, with a wagashi shop and a Starbucks nearby. Surprisingly, there were people eating from Nakano-ya. ☆Grilled dango (mitarashi) 80 yen ☆3.5 Large dango with plenty of sauce. ☆Dorayaki 180 yen ☆3.4 Weighs 74g 261kcal, very sweet dorayaki with whole bean paste and chestnuts inside. You can enjoy the texture. ☆Bean daifuku (smooth) 130 yen ☆3.4 Refreshing smooth bean paste. The presence of the bean grains stands out. Carry-out bags are charged. PayPay accepted. Credit cards not accepted.

First visit. I purchased one Daifuku and one Kusa Mochi for a taste test. Both come with either chunky or smooth red bean paste, but I chose chunky for both. The Daifuku has whole beans inside and the red bean paste is not overly sweet, with a refined sweetness. It feels like you could eat as much as you want. The Kusa Mochi has a prominent mugwort aroma and a very easy-to-eat gentle flavor. Please try them out!

Finally found it at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. The grass mochi I've been wanting. And they even have the red bean paste that my wife likes. She looks so happy. They also have daifuku with both grainy and smooth red bean paste. It's very much appreciated because our family is divided between grainy and smooth red bean paste. The grass mochi has a scent of mugwort that comes through the nose, and the sweet melting red bean paste is perfect. The daifuku has a moderately sweet red bean paste, which is different from the filling of the grass mochi, and the texture of the mochi is also amazing, making it perfect as well. Actually, I was surprised by the low price of 130 yen for each grass mochi and daifuku. I don't visit Japanese confectionery shops often, so I don't know the market price, but it's a very reasonable price. And the taste is just amazing. I'm glad to be Japanese. I will definitely be coming back.

I heard from a senior that the wagashi here is delicious, so I bought some Mame Daifuku and Yomogi Mochi. When I went, there were still plenty of varieties available, but I was told they tend to sell out by the afternoon. I bought Mame Daifuku with smooth bean paste, coarse bean paste, and yukari, and they were all delicious and soft. The Yomogi Mochi had a nostalgic bitterness from the yomogi and was chewy and tasty. They were also easy to eat because they were small. The Dorayaki was fluffy and delicious! Thank you for the meal☆

Sakuramochi made with Domyoji flour. I believe the type of sakuramochi sandwiched in Kanto is different from the type wrapped in Domyoji flour in Kansai, which I prefer. Both were available! These traditional Japanese sweets are not too sweet and delicious. I often eat seasonal Japanese sweets, so I would like to try something different next time.

In the evening, I visited Nakano-ya in Machida, a traditional Japanese sweets shop. I stopped by before having dinner in Machida, around 5:30 PM, but the only items left in the showcase were mitarashi dango, isobe dango, and warabimochi. The staff mentioned that it was busier than usual and most of the sweets had been sold out. I paid with PayPay and enjoyed the sweets at home later. Here are my thoughts: The warabimochi was delicious. It came in a dice-shaped pack with a sweet black sugar coating. The texture was chewy but had a good bite to it, making it easy to eat. The square cut size was convenient, and the roasted soybean flour added a nice aroma. Not too much flour, which was great. The sweetness level was just right. I liked it. As for the mitarashi dango, it looked appetizing with a caramelized surface and a gooey sauce. However, when I tried it, the dango seemed undercooked with a powdery center. The sauce was decent, but the dango itself was disappointing. It was a good thing I didn't buy more. Overall, I would like to try other traditional Japanese sweets from this shop in the future, especially since the warabimochi was delicious. It was a satisfying visit to this long-established sweets shop in Machida. Total cost: 440 yen for 2 mitarashi dango and 1 warabimochi.

The staff were very friendly and I felt great buying the dango, but unfortunately, the dango itself wasn't delicious. It was too powdery and not enjoyable without microwaving it. Even after microwaving, it still wasn't that tasty. It's a shame.

There were many traditional Japanese sweets to choose from, but I decided to buy mitarashi dango. There are two types of mitarashi dango - one with a strong soy sauce flavor and one that is sweet and savory. I prefer the sweet and savory one, but this one seemed to have a strong soy sauce taste and was quite sweet. It wasn't my favorite, but I still enjoyed it. The mochi was chewy and delicious.

When it comes to Japanese sweets in Machida, everyone knows Nakano-ya. One of their signature products is the Mame Daifuku, priced at 130 yen. It comes in three varieties: whole beans, white bean paste, and coarse bean paste. I always go for the coarse bean paste because I love the chunky beans and the subtle saltiness.

I stopped by Nakano-ya, the best traditional Japanese confectionery shop in Machida, for a snack. Among many senior women ordering various traditional Japanese sweets, I chose something that didn't seem too sweet. - Sweetfish-shaped cake with matcha and bracken starch - "Nostalgic" bean rice cake I enjoyed them with roasted green tea at home, and they were not too sweet, especially the bean rice cake was delicious. I will definitely visit again when I have lunch nearby. Thank you for the meal.

I had some traditional Japanese sweets at the confectionery shop "Nakano-ya". I tried the "Mame Daifuku (sweet bean paste)" for 130 yen, "Kusa Mochi (mugwort-flavored rice cake)" for 130 yen, and "Mame Mochi (bean rice cake)" for 130 yen. Through the PayPay campaign, I received a 20% cashback of 78 yen. The "Kusa Mochi" had a pleasant aroma of mugwort and a gentle sweetness. Although I'm not a big fan of bean rice cakes, it had a simple and natural taste.

I didn't know there was such an old-fashioned Japanese sweets shop on the road I've been going to for a long time. I bought plenty of things I wanted and the shop, despite being a long-established one, accepts PayPay and is evolving. The soft and chewy mochi was delicious, I will definitely visit again to buy more.
