This Baumkuchen is a limited edition product sold exclusively at Daimaru Tokyo to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the founding of Daimaru. It was first released in April 2017 but was later discontinued. It made a comeback on August 7, 2020, with a moist and tender texture described as a "soufflé." It is similar in size to the main product of Nenrinka, "Straight Baum Soft Bud," but with some differences in ingredients, such as the use of glutinous rice flour and stabilizer instead of sugar-added egg yolk, and a higher amount of natural cheese. It is also lower in calories compared to "Straight Baum Soft Bud." Despite not meeting the official definition of Baumkuchen set by the German National Confectionery Association, this Baumkuchen is delicious with a milky and buttery flavor. It is a great value at 1188 yen and suitable for gifting as a whole cake.
The manufacturer, Abeya Confectionery Co., Ltd., located in Kawaguchi City, Saitama Prefecture, holds outlet sales every Saturday morning, where you may find discounted irregular products of Nenrinka Baumkuchen.
