Oshima, izakaya lunch edition. This time it's a post about "Gachimai Shokudo". I was looking for something refreshing to eat, so I was searching for a soba shop, but I saw a sign saying "preparing"... I found an Okinawan restaurant (izakaya) near Oshima Station. I thought they might have Okinawan dishes like Soki soba, so I decided to visit. The interior of the restaurant has a clean and wooden atmosphere. The music playing and the awamori lined up around give a sense of an Okinawan restaurant, but it feels a bit stylish like an izakaya. There are only 4 tables, so it doesn't seem like they can accommodate 20 people. By the way, for lunch, water and tea are self-service. Looking at the table menu, there seems to be a 580 yen lunch. In line with my initial intention to eat something refreshing, I ordered the "Champlu soba (580 yen)". The Champlu soba arrived in about 10 minutes. Hmm, when I think of Okinawan soba, I imagined a clearer, more refreshing soup, but the appearance is closer to Champon. The ingredients are stir-fried Champlu. There are no bitter melon or tofu, just a regular Champlu. I took a bite right away. The noodles are flat and slightly soft. The soup is on the darker side, giving a soy sauce flavor typical of Okinawan soba. And the ingredients, they are too peppery, salty, and oily. When the ingredients soak into the soup, it becomes quite heavy and oily. Well, it was cheap so it's okay. The portion size is quite good and I got full, thank you for the meal. As an izakaya lunch, the price is cheap and the portion is good, so if you're looking for a satisfying meal, it might be worth it.
