Wow, it's been 6 years since my last visit, so there are so many buried reviews... I ordered the following items: - Anmitsu 735 yen I was aiming for a chestnut sweet, but it was almost sold out since it was evening. The fresh fruits looked delicious, so I chose Anmitsu for the first time. I enjoyed it at home after chilling it in the refrigerator. They said not to put the cup of red bean in the fridge as the white balls would harden. The agar jelly poured into the cup is topped with grapes, oranges, kiwi, smooth white balls, and delicious red bean, and then drizzled with maple syrup. The syrup is light and not too sweet. The innovative uncut agar jelly has a clear taste and is delicious. It only lasts for the day of purchase. I still love Anmitsu. I have to try it at Tsukumo Dango too...

[Access] The shop is located about a 3-minute walk from Shinjuku-sanchome Station on the Toei Shinjuku Line, on the basement floor of Isetan. [Operating Hours and Store] I visited on a weekday at 1:00 PM. There was a long line in front of the store, probably about 30 people waiting. It took about 15 minutes to line up and make a purchase. The store has a traditional Japanese atmosphere. - PayPay payment - Bag service [Order] - Suzunoya Mochi / yen / tax included The soft dough and chewy sweet bean paste are delicious. It's a bite-sized Japanese confectionery that you can enjoy. - Suzunoya Monaka / yen / tax included Crispy monaka shell filled with plenty of sweet bean paste. It looks good and you can eat it without feeling guilty. - Strawberry Daifuku / yen / tax included Thin skin with white bean paste and a large, sweet and sour strawberry. The combination of sweetness and acidity is excellent. [Staff] The staff were friendly and provided attentive service. [Final Thoughts] In late July 2023, a record high temperature was recorded. I bought Japanese sweets in the department store basement, waiting in line for about 15 minutes. It wasn't a problem because of the air conditioning. If it were outdoors, would there still be a line? The Japanese sweets I tried this time were as delicious as they looked, and reasonably priced. Oh, it's worth the wait. I was so satisfied that I would definitely come back for more. Thank you for the meal. - Station: Nearby - Line: Expect a wait - Ambience: Traditional Japanese - Price: Reasonable - Specialties: Suzunoya Monaka and other traditional Japanese sweets Eatery Rating: 3.52 No. 29072023

First visit, arrived a little after 1:30 pm and there were about 20 people in line. I happened to find this place online and saw that they were selling summer strawberry daifuku called "Natsumizuki" until the end of July. I was curious to try it, so I decided to stop by. While waiting in line, they announced that there were only 200 Natsumizuki left. I was a bit worried that they would run out so quickly, but luckily I made it in time to order. Along with the Natsumizuki, I also purchased a few other items: Suzunomochi (coin-sized mochi with red bean paste), Suzunozaimai (thick and sturdy bell-shaped mochi), Teboumame dorayaki (fluffy and sweet pancake with white bean paste), and the Natsumizuki strawberry daifuku. The strawberry daifuku had a nice balance of tartness from the juicy strawberry and sweetness from the white bean paste. I was glad I got to try it. This shop offers both classic and seasonal items, and I saw on their website that they have other items I would like to try in the future. I would definitely visit again when I am in the area. Waiting time with PayPay was about 20 minutes.

I visited the store on a weekday afternoon before the evening rush. There was a decent line, but unfortunately, the "Suzuno Mochi" that I wanted was sold out. The staff mentioned that it sold out around 2 pm that day. I was unsure of what else to buy besides the next item on my list, the "Suzuno Senjyu," so I asked the staff for recommendations and ended up purchasing the "Special Mizu-Yokan," "Anmitsu," and the "Natsumizuki Strawberry Daifuku." While the "Suzuno Senjyu" and "Special Mizu-Yokan" were delicious, the "Anmitsu" stood out with its maple syrup-based sweetness, a unique twist that I enjoyed. Especially the "Natsumizuki Strawberry Daifuku" was surprisingly delicious with the sweetness of the strawberries. I would definitely like to buy it again.

I bought souvenirs for my friend and some Japanese sweets for myself at Suzukake in Shinjuku Isetan. I got the Natsumizuki strawberry daifuku and Kuzusakura. The strawberry daifuku has a whole strawberry inside the mochi. The sweet strawberry, thin mochi, and white bean paste go well together. It's a delicious daifuku that brings out the sweetness of the strawberry. The Kuzusakura is a Japanese sweet wrapped in kudzu powder with red bean paste wrapped in cherry blossom leaves. The smooth kuzumochi, sweet anko, and cherry blossom leaves make for a delightful combination. The refreshing taste of the cherry blossom leaves stands out. Both sweets are easy to eat and delicious.

On a regular night, I wondered when the long line at this shop would ever end... but I couldn't resist lining up to buy their specialty, the Hon Daifuku! It may be smaller than what I imagined, but the filling is so delicately sweet and soft. I also couldn't resist getting the Kuri no Mizu Yokan, a seasonal treat that I can't wait to indulge in. Thank you for the blissful moment, Suzukake-san!

I waited in line for about 15 minutes to make a purchase. While I didn't particularly like the shiso mochi, everything else was heavenly. The strawberry daifuku in particular was the best I've ever had, with the perfect balance of sweetness and tartness, and the thin skin and red bean paste were a match made in heaven. The staff at the shop were all very polite, and I would definitely be willing to wait in line again for about 15 minutes to purchase from this shop.

The main store is in Fukuoka. According to Tabelog and Google, there are 5 stores in Fukuoka, 2 stores in Tokyo, and a total of 8 stores in Nagoya for this traditional Japanese confectionery shop. The Shinjuku Isetan store has the highest rating on Tabelog. I once passed by and saw a 30-minute wait, so I gave up. This time, I visited 10 minutes after opening and still had to wait in line for about 10 people, taking 15 minutes to purchase. The strawberry daifuku was highly rated in reviews but was not available. I bought manju, dorayaki, kashiwamochi, and mame daifuku. They were all delicious, but I find it hard to distinguish traditional Japanese sweets from each other as my palate is not refined enough compared to Western sweets.

Nice to meet you, Suzukake-san. I was amazed by the long line, but it's no wonder because the sweets must be absolutely delicious. I only bought my favorite Ashinaga-mochi, and it was amazing. The skin had a firm texture, the sweetness of the red bean paste was subtle, and it was just perfect. I want to try all the sweets in the showcase next time. I also tried ⭕️⭕️-san's Kashiwa-mochi for comparison, but Suzukake-san's was the clear winner. I wonder what I should try next time!

I had some errands in Shinjuku on this day, so I decided to buy some strawberry daifuku at "Suzukake" in Isetan. They are only available from November to April and are quite popular as a souvenir. In recent years, there has been a trend of various fruit daifuku, but when it comes to the original fruit daifuku, it has to be the strawberry daifuku. These strawberry daifuku use amaou strawberries from Fukuoka prefecture. When I tried it, I found a juicy whole strawberry inside the soft mochi. The strawberry itself was not overly sweet, nor was it too sour, just incredibly juicy. The sweetness was balanced by the elegant sweetness of the red bean paste. While I wasn't particularly amazed by the taste of the strawberry itself, as there are many varieties with stronger sweetness or larger sizes, the overall balance of flavors was delicious. If it was just red bean paste, it would be too sweet, and if it was just strawberry, it might lack sweetness, but together they were just right. Thank you for the meal.

I lined up and bought it as soon as it opened! I always gave up because of the long line. The strawberry daifuku is very delicious. The rice cake is soft, the red bean paste has a gentle sweetness, and the juicy strawberry goes well with it. Even eating just the strawberry is delicious! It has recommended strawberries in it. I don't plan on buying the warabi mochi again. The suzu no monaka is also delicious.

Today was a bit cold with a chilly wind, but the weather was nice. I decided to go to Shinjuku Gyoen to eat dango while enjoying the cherry blossoms, but it turned out that only guests with reservations were allowed that day. So, I walked about 10 minutes to another park to eat. The mitarashi dango and anko dango were different from what I expected. They were firm with a lot of chewiness. They were tasty, but different from what I had in mind. I think I prefer the classic fluffy mitarashi dango. The ohagi, on the other hand, was spot on. I had it at home.

The strawberry daifuku I had was the best I've ever had. Despite being small, it was very satisfying and worth the price. The mochi was cute in the shape of a bell, and the crispy exterior with sweet red bean paste inside was delicious. I now understand why there was such a long line. It's worth waiting for, and I will definitely go back again.

I went there on a weekday afternoon, and had to wait for about 20 minutes. Some items were already sold out, so please be aware when you visit. They have bell-shaped mochi, strawberry daifuku, mugwort bean paste mochi, and mini mini dorayaki. The mochi is chewy and delicious, but the size is really small. It would be nice if they had a larger size as well. The strawberry daifuku has a large, sweet, and juicy strawberry with a balanced amount of bean paste, making it delicious. The mugwort bean paste mochi has a smooth skin texture, a fragrant mugwort scent, and tasty bean paste inside. It was the best one. The dorayaki has a pretty sweet skin and white bean paste inside, unlike the mochi.

As soon as it opened, I joined the line at Suzukake!!! I had been wanting to try this shop since I saw the long line at Isetan before. Are Suzukake's specialties? I bought Suzukake Monaka and Suzukake Omochi (mini dorayaki) as souvenirs for my friends. I also bought one for myself. The omochi was moister and heavier in taste than I had imagined, and it was very delicious. The monaka had a nice crispy texture and the anko filling had just the right stickiness, making it easy to eat as many as I wanted. The small size and relatively affordable price make it a perfect souvenir!!! Next time, I want to try Shiratama Kinako Mochi, Ohagi, Uguisu Mochi, and more.

Suzukake: A local favorite traditional Japanese sweets shop with its main store in Fukuoka, Hakata! Their strawberry daifuku, Suzuno mochi, and Suzuno manju are beautifully packaged in boxes and are irresistible to those who love Japanese sweets! Not too sweet, these treats are small and cute, perfect for young people! If you want to indulge in a variety of luxurious Japanese sweets, this is a must-visit place! #ShinjukuGourmet #ShinjukuEateries #JapaneseSweetsEateries #JapaneseSweets #Suzukake #24Eateries #February3rd

We lined up to buy some strawberry daifuku. They were round and beautiful. The staff at the shop were efficient and polite, making the shopping experience very pleasant. The strawberry daifuku from Suzukake was delicious, with juicy strawberries and a thin layer of mochi. I actually had two of them and preferred biting into the second one rather than cutting it in half. The amazake manju was not very tasty, with a dry texture and a crumbly anko filling. The candied kumquats from Nanaka were enjoyable, with a sweet and slightly bitter flavor. It's a dangerous treat that is easy to eat quickly. Overall, the strawberry daifuku from Osaki Takamatsu-ya is my favorite due to its satisfying texture and balance of strawberry and anko. Thank you for the meal. Strawberry daifuku: 356 yen each. Amazake manju: 183 yen. Nanaka candied kumquats: 324 yen.

I had the staff at Isetan's Suzukake pack some sweets as souvenirs. This time, I included a limited edition castella cake called Rakuzan. I also got Karukan from Kokonoe and Wakaayu from Kusuki, which is a red bean paste without mochi. Personally, I would like them to make a dorayaki like Nakamuraya's Hime Dorayaki, with both mochi and red bean paste together. Since everyone tends to buy Toraya in January, I chose Suzukake to avoid overlap, but I also feel the pressure to choose a thoughtful souvenir that is not just for show but also delicious. There is a desire to hold hands and a feeling that I can't choose inferior products. I worry that I might be thought of as "just buying department store wagashi" or "I don't need 6 Karukan." Last time, I showed them this combination and asked for a similar box, and the saleswoman said, "I've seen this on Tabelog or something." I replied, "That was me." I will probably ask for their help again in the future, so please take care of me. Suzukake Shinjuku Isetan Store 03-3341-1512 Tokyo, Shinjuku-ku, Shinjuku 3-14-1 Isetan Shinjuku Store B1F

I was thinking of buying some sweets at Shinjuku Isetan, so I stopped by Jean-Paul Hévin and decided to try their strawberry daifuku, which had good reviews. Even though I wasn't really in the mood for strawberry daifuku, I bought it anyway. When I tried it at home, it was delicious ❤️ The combination of large strawberries and not too sweet red bean paste was amazing! This strawberry daifuku is addictive.

I love the wagashi from Suzukake, and I often come to buy them at Shinjuku Isetan. Among them, I really love their strawberry daifuku, which is my personal number one daifuku so far. This strawberry daifuku is made with large, sweet amaou strawberries from Fukuoka, wrapped in a thin and soft mochi skin. The red bean paste inside is made with great care, removing the skins of the beans to create a very smooth texture with a subtle sweetness. The balance between the large strawberry, mochi, and red bean paste is exquisite. Despite being a strawberry daifuku, it doesn't feel heavy at all, and the light sweetness makes it seem like you could eat as many as you want. Please note that the expiration date is the same day, so it's recommended to eat it as soon as possible after purchase. On this day, I also bought the black soybean and yellow rice flour ohagi, which had a refined and smooth red bean paste with a subtle sweetness that paired perfectly with the flavor of the black soybean and yellow rice flour. The shop is popular, so there may be lines in the evening, but the staff are always very kind and provide polite service, which I appreciate. The packaging is also lovely, making it a great choice for gifts.
