I bought 3 different kinds of bread from a popular bakery where there is always a line, but if you reserve online, you can buy them right away. 1. Buldopork Caramel: A sandwich made with caramelized onions and pork that is fried until it turns caramel in color. It is very sweet and delicious, with the pork not being smelly or fatty. It has a pasta sauce-like flavor, suitable for adults. It goes well with coffee rather than red wine. 2. Jambon Fromage: At first glance, it looks like cheese and ham sandwiched between bread, but it has a sophisticated taste. The cheese has a subtle flavor and the ham is gentle, not the kind you find in supermarkets. It's a refined bread made with carefully selected ingredients. 3. Milk Butter Ice: A bread with crispy crust and milk ice cream inside. It has a gentle taste that is not overpowering, with a good balance of flavors. It's the kind of bread you won't find just anywhere, perfect for enjoying on a hot holiday morning. This bakery truly understands the balance of flavors and is a great place to visit for those who appreciate a meticulous lifestyle. (From my wife's perspective)

Shimo Bakery is a bakery where items sell out quickly. The white bread is 495 yen. It has a fluffy, chewy texture with a hint of acidity. Even when toasted, the acidity lingers subtly. The okara bread is 348 yen. It is a sourdough bread with a unique chewiness that goes well with butter, side dishes, jam, and more. The egg bread is 136 yen. It is sweet and similar to a brioche. The soft bread on the right is 288 yen. As the name suggests, it is fluffy and has a faint acidity and wheat flavor with each bite. The soft croissant is crispy without falling apart. The chewy croissant lacks the crispy texture and the crumbly croissant is not recommended for those who dislike it. The red bean bun is 218 yen. It is mildly sweet and dense. It seems like you can reserve on their website and pick up at the store.

On a day off, my wife and I stopped by this bakery while taking a leisurely walk. It's located about a 15-minute walk from Kunitachi Station North Exit. The bakery is quite challenging to visit as it is only open 2-3 days a week and operates mainly on a reservation basis, similar to the clouds at Takeda Castle. Luckily, we happened to pass by when the shop was open today. We nervously checked if there were any bread left for the day, and fortunately, there were some available. I got a fluffy-looking bread made with high water content for breakfast the next morning, and a chocolate bread for my child who loves chocolate. The next morning, we tried the bread. The small chocolate bread had a chewy texture due to its high water content. Inside, there was a chunk of slightly bitter chocolate that even my child enjoyed. The bread made with okara had an even more chewy and moist texture. It seemed like it was fermented for a long time. The rich aroma of wheat and the lingering acidity in the aftertaste were impressive. Even though it was a half-size, it was satisfying to eat. The shop's card says, "We bake our daily bread with care." The taste of the bread reflects the shop owner's love for baking, making us feel warm and content in the morning. Thank you for the delicious meal. We will definitely come back again.

There is a bakery in Kokubunji. You can make reservations, but if there are any available on the day, you can purchase without a reservation. The bread is not lined up, so when your turn comes at the counter, a plate with today's bread will be brought out and you can choose from it. The baguette has a chewy texture and a unique taste! The luxurious cocoa bread is really delicious, using chocolate in a luxurious way!

- Shokupan (white bread) - 430 yen (tax included) - Okara bread - 285 yen (tax included) - Apple cinnamon pastry - 280 yen (tax included) This bakery is only open for a few hours, three days a week. It is located north of Nishikokubunji Station, past Kumanosha Shrine towards Tokyo, in what seems to be a stylish residential building with a shop. It feels more like a pickup window than a traditional store. I made a reservation online the day before my visit. The nut pastry I could have reserved two days ago was sold out when I hesitated. It seems like they have limited quantities or many reservations. When I visited on a Saturday afternoon, there were no other customers besides me, but a few people came looking for bread that day. The lady (maybe the owner?) apologized for selling out in the morning. I was told that the apple cinnamon pastry needed to be kept cold, but I had my own ice pack so I declined theirs. When I got home and tried the bread, the shokupan was like a cross between French bread and white bread, with a slightly crispy crust that added a nice touch. It was not bad, but slightly different from my preference. The okara bread had a crispy exterior and a moist, chewy interior, which I really enjoyed. It was slightly smaller than usual, so the price was lower, which I appreciated. The apple cinnamon pastry was made with croissant dough, fresh apples, raisins, and filled with cream. It felt more like a dessert than bread and was very well executed. Overall, the bakery had a good impression with friendly service and reasonably priced, freshly baked bread. Thank you for the meal.

While working from home, I had an unusual break from 11:30 to 14:00 and decided to go out to buy lunch. Instead of my usual convenience store, I chose to visit a popular bakery nearby. This bakery, run by Mr. Shimo, has been open for about a year and a half. It is located in a small, mysterious building in a corner of an apartment complex. Despite its enigmatic appearance, it had garnered attention for surely being a great bakery. I had only lined up and bought from them once right after they opened, and hadn't visited since. However, feeling inclined to go today, I was able to purchase without a reservation. I bought a loaf of bread for 350 yen, a round bread called "Tamago" for 130 yen, and an "Apple Cinnamon" bread for 150 yen. The staff recommended a set that included all these items for 1,300 yen, but I opted to buy them separately as I thought I couldn't finish the set. I immediately tried the loaf of bread and it was delicious! The bread had a crispy and fragrant crust, while the inside was soft and flavorful, similar to a French baguette but in loaf form. The natural yeast flavor was also outstanding. I haven't tried the "Tamago" and "Apple Cinnamon" breads as they are gifts for my wife, but the last time I bought from this bakery, the pastries were decent. However, the bread is truly amazing. It's reasonably priced and definitely worth a repeat purchase. It's strange though, as my wife mentioned they only do reservation sales and set sales, yet when I went, they were selling without a reservation and had a variety of breads ready. Maybe these were reserved items, but it didn't seem like they were running out due to high demand. The bakery is located near the "Shiki no Mori" large apartment complex in Higashi-Koigakubo, close to a road undergoing expansion work with barricades in front of the store. I hope the road is completed soon and the store looks even better. In summary, it seems that you can easily purchase from this bakery on weekdays just before lunchtime.

This is a bakery that opened about a year ago. They are closed on Sundays and on Saturdays, they close once they sell out, so I had never seen it open much. However, I have been curious about it because it might be delicious. Recently, due to the influence of the coronavirus, they started accepting reservations, so I made a reservation right away. You can make a reservation through the official Instagram site or by phone. We made a reservation by phone. We ordered the C set. We called on a Sunday afternoon and picked it up the following Saturday. The contents of the C set that day were egg bread, croissant, honey toast, red bean bread, brown sugar banana bread, cream cheese nut raisin bread, and 7 kinds of bread in total, all for 1500 yen. I think it's a reasonable price. My favorite was the egg bread. The simple sweetness was exquisite and delicious. However, it was small, which was disappointing. The other breads were also of high quality and recommended for those who like sweet breads. Personally, I think they are a little too sweet. Also, I wish there was a bit more quantity. This area is a fiercely competitive bakery district, and I have my favorite breads and types of bread to buy for each bakery. So, unfortunately, this set sale does not quite suit my taste. However, if you can buy them individually, the egg bread and red bean bread might be good choices. There seems to be a small amount of same-day sales available, so I would like to visit the store again. Thank you for the meal.

In the midst of the coronavirus outbreak, the restaurant started a reservation sale as a trial. It took place on April 23rd (Thursday). Online reservations via email started on April 20th (Monday) at 7:00 PM, but it ended in 4 minutes. Unfortunately, I couldn't secure a spot. However, I managed to make a reservation on April 21st (Tuesday) through a phone call. I ordered the following sets: Set A - 1000 yen - Shokupan (Japanese bread) - Tamago anpan (sweet red bean paste bun with egg) - Croissant - Black bean cashew nut bread Set B - 1500 yen - Shokupan - Hassaku (a type of citrus) apple pie - Vegetable bread - Croissant - Mushroom gratin I shared the food with my family, and here are my comments on what I ate: Shokupan - The texture was moist and fluffy as always, with a rich aroma. Delicious! Anpan - The sweet red bean paste filling was not too sweet, and the bread was chewy and tasty. Croissant - The outer layer was crispy, while the inside was soft and fluffy. It had a generous amount of fermented butter, making it slightly oily, but I liked it. Black bean cashew nut bread - This unique bread had a sprinkling of soybean flour. The sweetness of the black beans and the saltiness of the soybean flour combined well, creating a Japanese-style bread. Hassaku apple pie - Excellent! It had a crispy texture like the croissant, a fragrant outer crust, and a slight bitterness. The acidity of the Hassaku citrus balanced the sweetness of the apple, resulting in a refreshing and slightly sweet taste. Mushroom gratin - According to the store, it was made with Danish pastry dough topped with homemade dried mushrooms, meat sauce, mashed potatoes, and white sauce. It was meticulously crafted and had a homemade feel to it. The flavor of the mushrooms was rich, complemented by the umami of the mashed potatoes, the richness of the meat sauce, and the refreshing acidity of the white sauce. The use of sauces was elegant. It was a very enjoyable set, and I looked forward to having it for lunch on the day of purchase and for breakfast the next day. I also plan to freeze the extra shokupan for later. In times like these, enjoying meals at home is important! Thank you very much, and please keep up the hard work. According to Instagram, the next sale will be on April 28th and 30th. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I visited on a weekday just before lunch. I arrived as the previous customer was leaving. The bread here is all small in size. The sandwich bread doesn't come in half sizes or slices, only small loaves starting from 2. Since I wanted to eat it right away, I chose the veggie bread and croissant, which seemed easy to eat. The veggie bread had raisins in it, making it sweeter than expected. The croissant was crispy on the outside but still kept its shape when bitten into, with visible layers. The small size is perfect for when you have an appetite but can't eat too much. It would be nice to have more variety, but the quality is on par with bakeries in the city center.

This is my first visit. This restaurant is located between Kokubunji Station, Nishi-Kokubunji Station, and Koengawa Station, making it quite difficult to access. It takes about 15 minutes to walk from each station. Although it has just opened, it has a good reputation and most items are sold out by early afternoon. The exterior is stylish, and the interior is also small but stylish. When I visited around 1 pm on a weekday, they only had two items left besides ice cream - one being a milk butter ice cream sandwich for 340 yen. The shelf life of the ice cream sandwich is only that day and the next day, but it seems like it can last a few days if sliced and frozen. The bread is moist on the surface, chewy, and has a strong elasticity. It is very aromatic and has a sweetness to it with each bite. It is delicious. I saved some and toasted it later, and it was still fragrant and delicious. The milk butter ice cream sandwich is croissant-like with a crispy outer layer and a delicious aroma. The milk butter has a nice sweetness to it. Despite the slightly difficult access, this place seems very convenient. Since it's close to my home, I'm likely to visit regularly. Thank you for the meal.

I revisited the bakery early in the morning on 6/26. It was my third visit. There were two employees, a man and a woman, working together. They served one customer at a time, and there were about 7 people waiting in line behind me. It took some time. They accept credit cards. I bought different items this time: anpan, black bean anpan, shokupan, choco banana croissant, and honey toast. I liked the honey toast the best. Let's revisit on a day when we have more time.

I visited "Pan-ya Shimo" in Kokubunji. The shokupan (white bread) costs 340 yen and is very fluffy as it is. When toasted, it has a nice texture. The anpan (bread filled with sweet red bean paste) costs 180 yen and the kids were very satisfied with the chewy bread. The kinoko pan (mushroom bread) costs 180 yen and also has a chewy texture with sautéed mushrooms inside. It would go well with alcohol. The most popular item this time was the oku no rodevu, which costs 150 yen. It looks a bit hard but is easy to eat with no sourness. The shop is small and fills up quickly with just a few people. The prices are reasonable, and the shop has short business hours. It's a unique shop that doesn't change much.

Around 3:45 PM on June 19, 2019, I visited the bakery. Since it was close to closing time, there were only a few types of bread left, but I bought all the varieties available at that time. Both the grape bread and chocolate bread were very delicious. I heard that in the afternoon, there are fewer options and sometimes they are sold out. Next time, I will visit in the morning.

I found out through a local opening information website that a new bakery is set to open in late February in Higashi Koigakubo, Kokubunji City. I tried to gather more information by searching on Google and found the address and name of the bakery registered on Google Maps, allowing me to confirm the location through Street View. Although the bakery was scheduled to open in late February, it was announced on Instagram that there would be a trial pre-opening on March 5th and a grand opening on March 9th. I decided to visit on the pre-opening day, but there was already a long line in front of the shop. Unfortunately, the bread I wanted (vegetable bread, croque monsieur) sold out before I could get any. The bakery is located near the Hitachi Central Research Institute, between Kokubunji Station and Nishi-Kokubunji Station, surrounded by large condominiums like Musashino Residence and The Park House Kokubunji Shikinomori. Despite being in the middle of Kokubunji Station and Nishi-Kokubunji Station, it is a great location. The pre-opening line made it obvious. Since there is no parking lot, I searched for a coin parking in Higashi Koigakubo and found one near Kokubunji Hospital (The Park Kokubunji Hospital) for 100 yen per 30 minutes. On the pre-opening day, I parked at The Park Kokubunji Hospital. On the grand opening day on March 9th, I rode my bicycle to Higashi Koigakubo. I arrived slightly late around 2:30 PM, so there was no long line, but only "apple cinnamon" bread was left. It is a face-to-face bakery. I was happy to get the freshly baked raisin bread (350 yen) and apple cinnamon bread (180 yen) and brought them home. During the pre-opening day, I overheard that the bakery is run by a couple named "Shimo." They seemed a bit inexperienced in running the shop but were earnestly and sincerely serving customers. The raisin bread was slightly deformed due to being freshly baked. It was so soft that it was difficult to cut, but it tasted better the next day. The whole loaf disappeared into my stomach that night. I also tried the apple cinnamon bread immediately, which was fluffy with a hint of cinnamon and small apple pieces, and it was delicious. The bakery is generally closed on Sundays and public holidays, but according to the March schedule (image 10th), it will be temporarily closed on March 14th (Thursday) and 15th (Friday). March 21st is a public holiday for the spring equinox, so it will also be closed.

There is a bakery located between Kokubunji and Nishi-Kokubunji. The bread made from domestic wheat is simple yet delicious enough to make you want to eat it every day. The croissant is crispy with a rich wheat aroma and very delicious. There are also various types of sandwiches that I would like to try next time. The customer service is polite, and I highly recommend this bakery.

I don't understand. Especially the vegetable bread is greasy... And I feel like there is always a line because the register is slow. It seems like the customers are lining up because of the store's strategy, not because of the taste. Maybe they are being supported by customers from nearby apartments... I live nearby but I don't come back.
