A friend told me about a delicious rice cracker shop called "Sugito Senbei", so I decided to go check it out. There were many different types of rice crackers to choose from, but I finally picked out my favorite one to try. They were all so tasty that I couldn't stop eating them once I started. I wish there was a rice cracker shop like this closer to where I live.

Rice cracker dough Plain Large 400 yen Rice cracker dough Nori flavor Small 220 yen Fried mochi Soy sauce flavor Fried mochi Nori flavor This time, I tried baking the rice cracker dough with Nori flavor in a wood stove. It baked well and evenly. Although I didn't season it, it had a delicious taste of rice and a hint of Nori fragrance.

A store I visit a few times a year, almost as if I suddenly remembered it. The main item is fried rice crackers, but they also have various other items. I think it might be the most famous store in the Aoto area. I bring a basket, walk around the store, and choose the products. The fried rice crackers come in soy sauce, salt, seaweed flavors, with a crispy texture that is not too heavy, and once you start eating, you can't stop. As the year-end approaches, it seems to be used for New Year's gifts and it gets quite crowded.

I tried grilling the senbei dough on a charcoal grill. The dough is thin, so it can hold a lot of ingredients. I tried the plain and garlic soy sauce flavors. It puffs up quite a bit when cooked, but it's crispy and delicious! This is a great product.

Saito Senbei in Satomi is a shop that was featured on a TV show as one of the top 3 along the Keisei Electric Railway line. Their soy sauce and salt flavored senbei for 420 yen are popular, but they also offer a variety of other delicious senbei and rice crackers. Unlike other shops, their senbei are not light but rather dense and substantial, with a rich and intense flavor of the main ingredient, mochi. However, they are incredibly addictive. Once you start, you just can't stop. Today is no exception...

In front of Sugito Senbei, a shop with a history of 89 years located at the north exit of Keisei Aoto Station in Katsushika-ku, there seems to be people lining up. It's not clear if they are waiting in line or waiting for someone inside. Oh, it must be a popular senbei shop. Due to COVID-19 prevention measures, the number of people allowed inside the shop is limited. Only up to 2 people per family and a maximum of 5 people inside. Those beyond that must wait outside. After a short wait, I was able to enter. The shop has been renovated and looks clean. There are plenty of senbei varieties displayed on the shelves, priced around 350 yen per bag. I didn't plan to buy so much, but before I knew it, I ended up buying 6 bags. The senbei are crispy and delicious. It felt like a department store for senbei. I tried their homemade kaki senbei, which is their signature product, but it was a bit disappointing. The simple fried kaki senbei with soy sauce drizzled on top was not as tasty as I expected. Perhaps the oil was not fresh. It's a shame because it should have been delicious. Nevertheless, Sugito Senbei is a place where you are sure to find your favorite senbei.

I have been regularly visiting the Jikei University Katsushika Medical Center for a check-up on my weight. The doctor who has been taking care of me is retiring, so I decided to buy a thank-you gift from Sugito Senbei. Surprisingly, they were selling fried eggs for only 10 yen each, with a limit of 2 per person for a Red Cross donation. I was curious about how the fried eggs from a rice cracker shop would taste, so I bought some. The payment was not at the register, but in a donation box near the register. The amount was quite generous, filling up an A5-sized bag. The fried eggs were crispy and slightly oily, making them a good snack with a hint of saltiness. I also tried them on egg rice, which was quite delicious. Since they are coated in oil, they don't absorb liquid easily. They have a nice crunchy texture, which may appeal to those who appreciate it. Next time, I might try adding them to okonomiyaki. For a donation purpose, even at 100 yen each, I have no complaints. Thank you for the meal.

On Thursday at 11:25 am, I visited the "Sugito Senbei" shop near Aoto Station for the first time since they renovated. This shop specializes in fried rice crackers. I bought seaweed and salt flavors for 420 yen. I remember they used to have mayonnaise flavor too, which was probably high in calories. Once you open the bag of these fried rice crackers, you can't stop eating them, especially when paired with beer. I don't even want to know the total calories in one bag of these addictive snacks. They are like a local specialty in Katsushika Ward! Update: Today, I started drinking beer early along with the "Sugito Senbei" (seaweed flavor). The crispy texture with a sprinkle of soy sauce has no greasiness at first, but after finishing, the subtle oily flavor becomes addictive, so be careful not to eat too many at once.

Once a year, there is a special day for a human dock and a half-day off. After eating ramen at "Nonokura," I decided to explore the area on a rental bike, which I recently started using as a means of transportation. As one of the destinations, I stopped by this rice cracker shop near Aoto Station. Inside the shop, there is a wide variety of rice crackers displayed on the shelves. The staff, all women, seem quite busy constantly restocking the shelves, and the service feels a bit rushed. I bought the most traditional flavor, "salt," as well as "seaweed," and a limited-time (only available during the New Year holidays?) soy sauce-flavored "tree" rice crackers. Despite looking soft, the rice crackers have a firm texture with a satisfying crunch. The "salt" flavor is a bit mild, slightly underwhelming. I recommend the "seaweed" flavor in the middle. The combination of seaweed and soy sauce creates a rich and enjoyable taste. The "tree" flavor is similar to its appearance, with a gentle soy sauce taste. Each bag is large, making it tempting to try a variety, but storing them to keep them fresh is a bit of a challenge. I wanted to take a walk along the Arakawa riverbank afterwards, but couldn't figure out how to get there, so I gave up and went home.

There is a shop right by Aoto Station that you might miss if you don't know about it - it's an old senbei shop that has been around for ages. However, it is a famous shop even in Tokyo. While I'm not an expert in this field, their taste is top-notch. The cost is also excellent. Their fried senbei is the best. The shop has recently been renovated and is perfect for gifts.

There is a rice cracker shop in Katsushika Ward that always sells out of their popular items. It is a well-known shop among the locals. It is located right by the bus stop when heading from Keisei Aoto Station. I used to visit this shop often, but recently it has been beautifully renovated. When I visited in the evening, the popular items were already sold out. I ended up buying a different item, which was also very delicious and satisfying. The rice crackers I purchased (including tax) were: Seaweed Rice Cracker, Mayonnaise Flavor, Fried Shrimp Rice Cracker. Among these, the seaweed rice cracker is definitely a crowd-pleaser. The other two items may vary in taste depending on personal preference. If I am able to purchase the sold-out items, I will update my review. Please note that there is no parking space in front of the store, so be careful. This shop specializes in fried rice crackers and is recommended for those who love rice crackers.

Ranked 9th nationwide on Tabelog, this senbei (rice cracker) shop is a true gem. Officially known as "Sugito Senbei Oruhara Shoten Aoto Branch," this establishment boasts a history of 89 years in Tokyo Katsushika. Located just a 2-3 minute walk from Aoto Station, I visited the shop on my bicycle after finishing some errands. While there is no designated parking area for bicycles, I politely parked mine in front of the shop. My purpose was to purchase some senbei for myself and also as souvenirs. The interior of the shop exudes a nostalgic Showa-era atmosphere, with a variety of senbei displayed in a crowded manner. You can catch a glimpse of the workshop where the senbei are made at the back of the shop. I visited around 11:30 am on a weekday, and there was a constant flow of customers coming in and out, with some even making bulk purchases for home delivery. As for the taste, the senbei had a unique texture combining a crispy and chewy consistency, and the flavors were truly delicious. I believe they would make great gifts as well. However, please note that the shop will be closed for renovations from August 15th until mid-November.

Today, I would like to introduce you to Sugito Senbei, a senbei (rice cracker) shop located in Katsushika-ku, Aoto, which I reviewed before. This shop has a wide variety of delicious senbei and has been in business for 89 years. If you ever visit Katsushika, I highly recommend getting Sugito Senbei as a souvenir. Recently, this shop was featured on TV, causing their senbei to be in short supply. I purchased three types of senbei: Salad, Ebi (shrimp), and Agekake (soy sauce flavor). The most popular one is the soy sauce-flavored Agekake senbei for 400 yen. This senbei is made by frying the dough for three weeks, then pouring soy sauce over it while it's still hot. The soy sauce flavor varies in intensity on different parts of the senbei, providing a unique and enjoyable taste experience. Although the supply has improved since the TV feature, I still recommend visiting Sugito Senbei early in the day due to its popularity in the local area. "Thank you for the meal."

I will try baking senbei dough on a firewood stove with soy sauce seasoning. I also got a new version with seaweed added, so I need to compare and taste them.
