ハラミ串
[Overall Impression] Located about a 7-minute walk from Yotsugi Station in a residential area. This is a diner that serves the famous motsu-ni (tripe stew) from Horikiri Ayame-en's renowned restaurant, Nonki. Unlike other places that serve a similar recipe, they actually serve Nonki's motsu-ni as it is. This is because the diner is actually located in Nonki's husband's childhood home, where his mother runs the shop, making it a genuine experience. I never imagined that I would be able to enjoy Nonki's motsu-ni with rice, so I was truly surprised when it became a reality.
[Review] I discovered an interesting restaurant in a residential area near Yotsugi. It's a diner where you can enjoy Nonki's motsu-ni with rice. They specialize in motsu-ni set meals and have received high praise. Although they are not well-known yet, it seems promising. So, I decided to visit during a weekday lunchtime. It's located right in the middle of a residential area, so you wouldn't notice it easily. The exterior looks like a normal two-story house that has been converted into a dining area on the first floor. Without the banners, you wouldn't know it's a diner. The interior is a small L-shaped counter facing the narrow kitchen. The name of the shop, as well as the slightly Hawaiian-inspired decor, gives a unique ambiance. There are two staff members, one of whom is Nonki's husband's mother. Yes, this is actually Nonki's husband's childhood home! When I posted about the restaurant on Instagram, Nonki's husband himself informed me. It's reliable information. The menu consists of only one motsu-ni set meal in three different sizes: Regular, Ladies, and Men's. There are limited side dishes such as curry and raw eggs. Since there wasn't much to think about, I decided to go with the Regular size based on my appetite. I also added a raw egg.
Once I placed my order, it was quickly served. The motsu-ni was poured generously over a half block of tofu, and that was it. The seasoning is miso-based, and the motsu used is likely pork intestines or other parts. It's simmered until tender. The motsu is flavorful and pairs perfectly with the rich miso seasoning, making it incredibly delicious with rice! Mixing it with the rice is the best! Besides motsu, there are tofu, konjac, and chopped green onions, so you can enjoy the motsu to your heart's content. I felt so happy. The raw egg could have been added to the motsu-ni, but this time I decided to have it with rice.
[Final Thoughts] I was surprised to find out that Nonki's motsu-ni set meal is available at this diner. And as expected, that stew goes really well with rice! This diner focuses solely on motsu-ni set meals and does not serve alcohol, which I think is the right approach. The bill for today's meal came to 810 yen. Thank you for the delicious meal.
