There has been a Matsuya restaurant at the south exit of Kokubunji Station in my hometown of Kokubunji for over 30 years, but it has now been replaced by a Matsuya-affiliated steakhouse, and a Matsuya/My Curry dining hall has opened in the vacant tenant space across from it. Even though the two stores are connected, the seating and ticket machines are shared, which can be a bit confusing. This was my first time trying My Curry dining hall, so I decided to give it a shot. When I stood in front of the restaurant, I immediately felt torn. I had been thinking "curry for dinner tonight," but Matsuya is also offering a limited-time Massaman curry, which I heard is really delicious. However, I couldn't resist trying My Curry dining hall for the first time. After all, if I chose the Massaman curry and got hit by a car on the way home, not knowing about My Curry dining hall and died without trying it, I would regret it at the very end. So, I reluctantly gave up on the Massaman curry and opted for the "Colorful Vegetable Curry 650 yen ⇒ 600 yen" with a service ticket I had on the Matsuya app. This store is the latest model, where you buy a ticket at the machine, sit at the counter, and your number is called for a self-service system. The interior of the restaurant has many seats, and it was almost full. I found a seat that was available, but the air conditioning was so strong that it was uncomfortable. Well, it was convenient for eating curry. When I chose the Colorful Vegetable Curry, I could also choose the level of spiciness, so I chose extra spicy. After a while, my Colorful Vegetable Curry was ready, and my number was displayed. The curry served was in a deep dish and had a substantial amount. It didn't seem like a regular portion. And there were really a lot of vegetables in it. I took a bite of the curry. Wow, it's delicious!! The roux has a flavor of bouillon. This is really delicious! Matsuya's curry has been changing constantly, and now it's a curry that resembles beef tendon stew, called the founding curry, but this curry brings out the deliciousness of the vegetables. The spiciness, even though it's extra spicy, would be considered medium spicy for those who like spicy food. Just right. It's a 10 on the LEE scale. Well, Matsuya's sense of taste for curry is truly surprising. The taste and cost performance of this curry outshines the curry at a nearby restaurant called Co**ichi. By the way, there is Fukujinzuke and brown pickles, but you have to be careful as they can easily be taken away in one go. I felt the determination not to lose to rival stores in that aspect as well. It's getting complicated now. I was a little confused too, but another customer was also struggling in front of the ticket machine. Having many choices can bring happiness, but it can also bring unhappiness. I still don't know if this joint store is a good idea. All I know is that the curry was definitely delicious.
