On July 10, 2020 (Friday), my partner and I went to a digestif bar. After eating gyoza at Muro, we decided to have a drink before heading home, so we searched and found this bar. It is located on the second floor of a building on the road that goes from Takadanobaba East Exit, passing in front of Hozan High School, to Shin-Okubo. There was only one other customer when we arrived. We tried the recommended drinks: I had a Kin no Bi Gin and Tonic, while my partner had a Negroni for the first round. For the second round, I had a homemade Moscow Mule, and my partner had an Amaro Tonic. The cocktails were delicious, especially the Kin no Bi Gin and Tonic and the Amaro Tonic. However, the real highlight was the malt whiskey. The menu had a variety of Highland and Island malts. The conversation between the master and the customers revolved around this as well. The background music was jazz piano, with a unique and somewhat unskilled style that we weren't familiar with. We guessed it might be Barry Harris, but when we asked the master, it turned out to be Bill Evans. Specifically, his debut album "New Jazz Conceptions." I have all of Evans' albums from when he was alive, so I had listened to this one as well. It was interesting to see him experimenting before establishing his style. My partner mentioned that it sounded like a bop pianist, showing off their keen ear (laughs). The bill came to 6,200 yen. The name of the bar is not related to Brazil's Salvador, but rather taken from Salvador Dali's name. Today, it was reported that there were 243 new cases of COVID-19 in Tokyo, marking a new record high for the second consecutive day. Nationwide, there were 420 new cases, also a record high.
