They are open until late on Sundays, which was very convenient. They have a lot of records playing music, creating a great atmosphere. The drinks are delicious and it's a relaxing space. They also have terrace seating, which I would like to try during good weather. The staff were friendly and the overall vibe was very comfortable. The pickled plums, kaki no tane (spicy rice crackers), and nuts on the table are self-service.

I found a bar in Ebisu where you can enjoy listening to records after a long time. The atmosphere was great with a long counter and rows of liquor bottles. It's about a 5-minute walk from the east exit. The shop is easy to find with its sign and record decorations. Photography is not allowed inside. The main seating is at the counter, and it seems best for 2 or 1 person. There are also tables and some sofa seats, accommodating up to about 4 people. There was more chatter among customers than expected. There were quite a few foreigners too! While there wasn't excessive excitement or loud laughter, it felt like a typical izakaya on that day. There are signs on the door and in the restroom saying "Enjoy the music, don't get too loud in conversation," etc. However, the record music was quite loud, and even sitting alone at the counter was enjoyable. The music genres varied, with a mix of 7 Western and 3 Japanese songs. Mostly rock, pop, and jazz. Well-known songs like The Beatles and Utada Hikaru were playing frequently. It was interesting how the record changed after each song (compared to jazz cafes where one record is played throughout). Occasionally, videos were also shown on the wall, adding to the live music experience! The song selection seemed to be done by the master, so it's unclear if customers can request songs, but the staff, in general, were good conversationalists. There was a wide variety of drinks, and it was hard to try them all haha. They even had Guinness beer! The staff's coordination and service were top-notch, and I'm glad I found this great place! The food was light for snacking, with a few items like 4 types of dried snacks available. I'll definitely come back again.

There is a sense of being actually performed and sung right there, with a very good sound quality. The interior is not allowed for photography, so I only took a photo of the exterior. There are snacks on the table such as banana chips, corn, and wheat chocolate, which are all-you-can-eat and enjoyable.

The wall is covered with records, and there are powerful speakers for great sound. They serve original mojitos, a variety of whiskey highballs, and also make short cocktails. You can enjoy self-service style with bottled snacks, and the volume of your voice may be cautioned. But as long as you follow the rules, you can have a great time.

Located near Ebisu Station East Exit, this shop has been visited a few times as a second stop to have a drink before heading home. Opening the door for the first time required a bit of courage, but inside was unexpectedly spacious. Depending on the day, it can get quite crowded, but there is a waiting area right by the door where you can have a drink while waiting for a table to open up. The interior has counter seats, table seats, and is quite spacious. With records playing, it's recommended to enjoy a quiet atmosphere. Being too loud may result in being scolded, so it may not be ideal for large groups. It seems best suited for 2-3 people. This bar allows you to enjoy a quiet conversation while listening to records and sipping on delicious beer. It's a bar that may divide opinions, but my friend really loves it. Smoking is allowed inside, so as a non-smoker, it was a bit tough for me.

I first visited BAR MARTHABAR through a recommendation and instantly fell in love with its style and atmosphere. It's a large venue with loud music, creating a special space to enjoy music and drinks. It's important to keep the noise level down and taking photos inside is prohibited, so it's best to visit with one or two people. It's recommended to go with someone who knows how to behave or go alone and bring a well-mannered friend if you like the place. I personally enjoy going alone and have a great time each time. Reservations are not accepted, but I was lucky to get a seat at the center counter on the day I visited. The music selection of rock, blues, and jazz is soothing. A charming aspect is the self-service snacks like wheat chocolate and giant corn available for unlimited consumption, which I like to pair with whiskey. Whenever I feel tired or need to refresh, I will continue to visit this BAR in the future.

I'm not particularly knowledgeable about Western music, but even so, I can enjoy the atmosphere of this adult BAR. They play old Western music, sometimes nostalgic Japanese music, and have videos playing. It's a space that feels like time has stopped. If you're looking to enjoy a quiet atmosphere, please refrain from chatting. 🙅‍♀️

The store does not allow photography, and the staff maintain a quiet atmosphere. It's a place where you can enjoy drinks while listening to the music playing in the store, so conversations need to be kept quiet. It may feel a bit cramped. The snacks are the type that you can take from a jar yourself. All in all, it was a good place.

In recent years, listening bars have become a popular destination for many foreign artists visiting Japan. The famous bar has a unique facade with a block wall and stylish interior design featuring indirect lighting. The walls are lined with records, and there is a DJ space where the owner, Mr. Fukuyama, selects music. The bar is known for playing rock, blues, and jazz, but they also play music from all genres. The Beatles are played every day without fail. The bar features Tannoy Autograph speakers, considered the finest work of the British manufacturer since 1953. The spacious layout of the bar, including counter, table, box, and loft seats, is designed to maximize sound quality. The counter seats offer the best listening experience, especially in front of the Autograph speakers. Popular drinks include Moscow Mule and Mojito, as well as a selection of whiskies at reasonable prices. Self-service snacks like banana chips, persimmon pie, green peas, wheat chocolate, and giant corn are provided for free. Smoking is allowed, and cigars are also available. The bar is known for its strict rules, including no photography inside and no loud conversations that can be heard two seats away. Despite the strict rules, the unique atmosphere created by these rules adds to the enjoyment of the music. The bar is best enjoyed alone or with one other person to fully appreciate the music in the spacious setting. The bar's name, taken from Tom Waits' song "MARTHA," reflects Mr. Fukuyama's love for the artist. The bar was previously located in Shinjuku before moving to Ebisu, retaining the same name from its previous location in Shinjuku.

I used this place as my second stop. I called ahead to check if smoking was allowed, and then headed over. When I called, it seemed like they were just about full, and they don't take reservations. When I arrived, it was packed, so I waited in a standing area where you can have a drink. There's a standing counter right in front, with a seated counter further back, and a few tables upstairs. The waiting area is standing only. They had snacks like banana chips, persimmon snacks, and barley chocolate available in bottles for you to help yourself to. I enjoyed a delicious highball while waiting, and before I finished my drink, I was shown to a seat. The seating was in a unique half-standing box style, where you can't really sit properly, so it's not the kind of place you'd want to come to after getting really drunk. They have a wide selection of whiskies, but some popular ones were sold out, showing that it's a popular spot. They also offer snacks like quail eggs with pickled roe, but the bottled snacks were enough to keep me satisfied. I noticed that the staff carefully selected each record, creating a quiet atmosphere for enjoying music. While more than half of the customers were quite lively, I was told twice to keep my voice down, and also warned not to put my bag on the table because it could knock over a glass. It was clear that they are strict about certain things. I heard from others at different bars in the area that this place is known for being strict. Overall, it's a great place to enjoy the ambiance, so I recommend it for a date with someone who isn't wearing heels, speaks softly, and isn't too hungry.

After a year and a half, I went back to this place. They have a wide variety of drinks, and the liver paste is incredibly delicious! The snacks are also all-you-can-eat, so you can stay for a long time without any problem. The atmosphere is nice, so I definitely want to visit again when I go to Ebisu. However, this time there was a bit of a disappointment. When I called to confirm the business hours due to the coronavirus situation, the person who answered the phone was quite rude, saying "There shouldn't be any restrictions now that the state of emergency is lifted." It made me feel sad. Despite the criticism towards the staff's behavior, I really like the place itself.

I went to a bar in Ebisu. They prefer not to have photos taken inside the shop, so I could only take a picture of the exterior. The highball I had there didn't have ice, but it was still nicely chilled with plenty of carbonation. I also recommend their delicious sandwiches. I enjoyed tasty drinks while having dinner from 7 o'clock. This place is the best with music and whiskey. When I visited, the Tabelog rating was 3.54.

Today's visit was to BAR MARTHA. BAR MARTHA is a bar located in Ebisu, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo. It is just a 5-minute walk from Ebisu Station East Exit, making it a hidden gem of a bar. The exterior of BAR MARTHA is made of concrete, with a slightly hard-to-find entrance. Once inside, photography is not allowed, creating a space purely for enjoying music. The music inside is of very high quality, creating a beautiful sound that sets the mood. While enjoying the music, it is also perfectly fine to have private conversations in this outstanding atmosphere. For more detailed reviews, search 'eatery japan'.

I've always wanted to go to this place and finally got the chance to visit! The exterior looks so stylish! The interior is very spacious with rows of records, making it a very stylish bar. The clientele seemed to be mostly in their 20s and 30s, but the atmosphere is great and very adult-like. We arrived at 9:30 and had to wait for about 10 minutes because it was full, but it was worth the wait! We toasted with gin, and on the table, there were snacks like Kaki Peanuts, Giant Corn, Banana Chips, Wheat Chocolate, and nuts, all you can eat. By chance, I found Yamazaki 12 and Yamazaki 18, so I couldn't resist ordering both to compare them, but I couldn't tell the difference between the two (lol). It was a fun night of drinking, so I will definitely come back!

In conclusion, this bar is difficult to evaluate. I have been curious about it for a while but never had the chance to visit as it is often fully booked. Finally, around 7:30 pm, I managed to sneak in at an earlier time for a bar. The atmosphere was quietly exciting, almost like sneaking into a secret place. Upon entering, I was asked if it was my first time, and then informed of the rules of the establishment: no loud chatting as it is a music-focused bar, and no photography allowed. The interior of the bar is lovely, with high ceilings, a vast space, and a collection of records in the back, along with a large speaker and amp at the counter. The music from the 80s plays, creating a pleasant ambiance that makes you want to move to the beat. The alcohol selection includes brandy, rum, and a few cocktails. I opted for a sparkling drink at 900 yen. Snacks like dried persimmons, wheat chocolate, and nuts are available in jars for guests to enjoy. The bartender was stylish but not particularly friendly, and the constant presence of a staff member near our counter seats made us feel uneasy. The sight of empty glasses from table guests being returned to the kitchen from our counter seats was a bit off-putting. Overall, this bar is unique in its own way and worth a visit to experience its charm.

There is such a lovely bar near the station. It seems like taking photos inside is not allowed. The interior is very stylish with walls covered in records. The staff are all very cool and the atmosphere is great. There is a snack bar in front where you can help yourself to as much as you like. I had a sparkling drink. The background music playing was at a nice, easy-to-talk level, which was perfect.

This shop is famous for its strict master. When a customer tried to take a photo, the master loudly said from the counter, "Please stop!" It's a good shop if you follow the rules, but not suitable for those who want to have fun (so be careful). The interior is surprisingly bright with normal lighting, and the music is played at a normal volume, so it's not a moody bar. Snacks like nuts placed on the table can be eaten as much as you like. I had a Moscow Mule, which had a strong ginger aroma and was very delicious.

This time, I visited a place that has always caught my attention - a spot with a concrete wall and a single door. I've always wondered what was inside, and thanks to a friend who guided me, the mystery was solved. It turns out this is a bar where you can enjoy music. I couldn't take photos inside as it was not allowed, so I can only share an exterior picture with permission. I ordered a Moscow Mule, made with homemade ginger, and it was a delicious and stimulating drink that I really enjoyed. While I sat at the end of the counter this time, it's recommended to sit in the center as the best place to enjoy the music. The bar has speakers in the back, and the sound resonates best in the center, making it a popular spot for solo drinkers too. It's a place where you can enjoy unique drinks, and the atmosphere in Ebisu exudes a sophisticated adult vibe. Perfect for a discreet drink.

I went to a bar in Ebisu that had a relaxed atmosphere. It was about a 10-minute walk from Ebisu South Exit. The interior had counter seats and table seats, giving a spacious feeling. The concept of the place was to enjoy music and drinks without taking photos or speaking loudly. You can enjoy both music and records while having reasonably priced drinks. I had a bottle of sparkling wine and the total bill was around 7500 yen. I will definitely visit again.

★★★☆☆ In a quiet street, there is a small sign on a pile of concrete blocks. It feels quite austere. Upon opening the wooden door, you can feel a strong pressure of sound with solid volume. The interior is a skeleton of exposed concrete with bottle shelves and shelves full of records. In front, a vacuum tube amp is placed, with blue meters showing the volume on the left and right. The counter and booths are almost full. There are many young people here. The energy is great. However, the staff quickly remind you not to speak loudly or clap your hands, and no photography is allowed. It's a bit off-putting, but when in Rome, do as the Romans do. We start drinking with good manners, but it's quite difficult to talk quietly in this volume. It seems like the best way to enjoy this place is to come with one or two friends.
