Near Kagurazaka, a few months ago, I was wandering around and noticed a shop that has been renovated into a duck cuisine restaurant. The lunch menu includes duck nanban, duck seiro, duck soboro donburi, and daily specials at reasonable prices. The entrance looks like a traditional Japanese restaurant, with the entrance hidden behind a stone. Inside, the atmosphere is bright and casual. You can choose between sitting at the counter or at a table. The second table from the front is a counter seat with an open kitchen, and the dishes are placed at a lower level in a sunken kotatsu style, which is comfortable for your legs but the bench seats may require you to be mindful if you are wearing a skirt. Orders are taken through a tablet on the table. They serve cold tea in large glasses, which is thin but tasty. The soba noodles come in a normal portion size, which is actually quite generous. The noodles are slightly thick, firm, aromatic, and nicely chilled, providing a good texture. The duck and green onion soup comes in a generous portion size, with a slightly sweet and light flavor. The soup is easy to drink and has a good amount of green onions and duck meat with a savory taste. After drinking, they offer soba-yu, which is very hot and tastes good even without adding it to the remaining soup. The yam with grated yam is soft and the tuna is fresh. The dried daikon radish is sweet, so you may leave some. The pickled vegetables, including sweet pickled radish and lightly salted kelp, are delicious and make you want rice. The duck soup at the end was not to my taste, but it was plentiful, and the soba had a good amount of soup, which felt satisfying. The pickled vegetables were delicious and made me feel like having rice or sake. The soba alone was not enough. I usually don't mention specific dishes in reviews, but sometimes there are standout items even at a new restaurant. This time, it was the pickled radish! Today, the seiro soba was also delicious, and getting mountain-style topping included at this price is a great deal. After the meal, when I stood up to go to the restroom and then to pay, my shoes were already prepared. Also, when I said "thank you for the meal" upon leaving, a cheerful voice from the kitchen replied, "Thank you very much!" The bench for putting on your shoes is a nice touch, and the staff will see you off until you leave the door. It was a relaxed and enjoyable dining experience. Takeout is available, and lunch duck hot pot requires a reservation.
