A friend brought me to this restaurant. We sat at the counter with four people. There were many delicious appetizers to choose from. When we ordered a variety of dishes, they divided them into two portions or four portions for us, which was a thoughtful touch. The seaweed salad was crispy and had a great texture. We finished with oil noodles, which had a seafood broth that was not too heavy and very tasty. It was the perfect way to end the meal. I visited the restaurant around 19:30, just before they stopped taking orders. It was crowded with drinkers, so I hurried to place my order. The dishes were perfect for drinking, with a variety of options. The pig's feet were tender and looked good for the skin. The tempura was crispy and delicious. It would be nice if they also served it for lunch. The staff were efficient and friendly. The prices were reasonable. I would like to come back to this restaurant again.

On a Sunday night in Kichijoji, on the way back from shopping, feeling hungry, we decided to stop for a quick drink. Since the 7th person wanted some sushi as a snack, we decided to visit Marukatsu after a long time. The counter was full, so we sat at a table... which was unexpected! We ordered a lemon sour for me and a ponzu sake for the 7th person, and made a toast. Our first dishes were pickled bamboo shoots and smoked grilled mackerel. The bamboo shoots were thick but tender and delicious, while the grilled mackerel had a perfect balance of smoky and salty flavors. I switched to ponzu sake as well, as the drinks were going down smoothly. We also ordered marinated firefly squid. The 7th person, as always, enjoyed their whale meat sashimi with small sips of sake. The drinks tonight were crisp and perfect for summer, making it easy to enjoy. We ended our quick drink with a sushi platter of 10 pieces, including bonito, highfin trevally, belt fish, sardine, and dried squid. I particularly liked the belt fish. The delicate balance of the sushi, fresh ingredients, and my favorite belt fish made me very satisfied. It was so delicious!

It has a cozy atmosphere reminiscent of a traditional old-fashioned pub. The cheerful and youthful master welcomes you with a smile! I heard that he had experience training at sushi restaurants in Ginza, so I knew the food would be authentic, but unfortunately, I only had time for a quick stop and had just one bottle of beer for ¥638 (tax included). At the end of summer, my partner and I went to Marukatsu for drinks. We enjoyed some good quality dishes at a great price. It was our first time trying the fried barracuda, and the sushi lineup, which usually offers reasonably priced and delicious options, included gizzard shad, cuttlefish, sea bass, amberjack, and cured mackerel today. It was a very satisfying lineup.

I went to listen to the work-related concerns of someone who quit their job in the spring. The food here is still affordable yet of high quality. Today, I tried the tantan miso tofu for the first time, and it was a perfect combination. The deep-fried round eggplant dish had a summer-like feel to it, which was nice. Today's sushi included sea bream, salmon, horse mackerel, and squid. The squid sushi was especially delicious.

If I were to die, please shove this simmered pig's trotters into my mouth... Pig's trotters... I ordered them and they arrived in less than 3 minutes. Steaming hot, emitting a fragrant aroma of black pepper. When picked up with chopsticks, they are jiggly and seem like they might slip off at any moment. Quickly putting them into my mouth to prevent any spillage, they instantly melt and disappear without needing to chew. All that remains is a creamy sensation... Most of it is made of gelatin, with very little actual meat. As someone who loves offal, this might be the most delicious meat I've ever eaten... There is no greater happiness than this. If I were to die and lose all senses, I would want to savor this sensation as my final experience. Leave it in my coffin... One day, I received a video on my messenger of someone jiggling pig's trotters for 3 seconds, like a "moving line stamp." It was a video that could lighten the mood between couples, friends, or in tense situations, with a playful "jiggle jiggle, collagen, jiggle jiggle" to bring a smile. It could probably sell as a stamp for 100 coins, but if you wanted it, it would be quicker to just make your own video. Three pig's trotters cost 390 yen. If you order the rice set for 250 yen, you'll have a decent meal. Many people share it, but if you eat it all by yourself, your mouth might get sticky. Not just collagen, but you can eat the bones if they are soft. I devour even shrimp shells and insect shells, so I'll crush everything... The sensation of bones crunching... The rich pork bone broth in ramen slowly spreading... And the calcium permeating through your body... I couldn't eat everything, but it was a blissful taste after collagen... I was invited by one of my followers to join a party with 7 people. After toasting with draft beer, the dishes that came out were as follows: sliced pig's trotter, heart sashimi, smoked mackerel, simmered pig's trotter, assorted sushi, abura soba, and Miyazaki's famous spicy noodles. The sliced pig's trotter, eaten with vinegar miso, was a perfect match for alcohol. The heart sashimi, eaten with grated garlic and green onions, had a chewy texture and delicious flavor. The smoked mackerel had a unique aroma. I decided to try some unusual sours like "Akadama Punch" and "Kabosu Yuzu Sour" at this point, which my companions did not enjoy as much. The simmered pig's trotter was jiggly and delicious. The skewered simmered pig's trotter with Gatsu and Shiro was also tasty. The nigiri sushi with Houbou, Haruko, and Iwashi was all very good. We also shared and enjoyed the abura soba and Miyazaki's famous spicy noodles, which were a great finish to the meal. [Additional Note] On June 8, 2019, at the popular izakaya Marukatsu in Higashi-Koganei, you can't go wrong with anything you eat and leave completely satisfied. It was a little after 5 p.m. on Saturday. Two of us who hadn't eaten lunch were debating whether to have a meal or just drinks. Well, not really debating. Because Marukatsu was there. So, we headed straight into the restaurant and sat at the counter looking at the menu. First, we ordered Hoppy with Amaou Highball and...(continued) On April 4, 2019, at the izakaya Marukatsu in Higashi-Koganei, we enjoyed the lingering feeling of cherry blossom viewing sake. On the way back from cherry blossom viewing along the Kanda River in Higashi-Nakano, it was still just past 5:30 p.m. Should we have one more drink? We decided to go to the izakaya Marukatsu, which we had been curious about for a while. We slid into a raised seating area and looked at the menu. Let's start with beer and Oolong Highball for a toast. The main dishes were around 500 yen, which made us happy. First, we tried the recommended simmered pig's feet. It was tender and gooey, with a strong pepper flavor that was just right. Although there were some parts that still had a slight smell, it was delicious. Next, we had smoked grilled mackerel. The balance of smoky flavor, saltiness, and the fat of the mackerel was just right. It went well with the sake. The person in charge of the sake switched to Japanese sake right away. I ordered Akizakura from Akita (Nama Genshu), and it was more generous than I had imagined, which made me happy. We also ordered Gatsunegi and enjoyed sipping the sake. I switched to Hoppy (white) and then a sashimi platter (for one person) arrived! It had mackerel, sea bream, flying fish, and raw octopus. Even though it was for one person, they made sure there was enough for two people. And all the sashimi was delicious, especially the octopus. It was so good that we decided to order a sushi platter of 10 pieces. The toppings were the same fish as the sashimi platter, plus swordfish. It was delicious! The vinegared rice was just right. The strength of the hand-pressed sushi and the size of the rice were perfect. We were completely satisfied and said thank you. When we got home and checked the receipt, the person in charge of the sake noticed that the "Happy Hour Coupon" we presented when we sat down was not applied, which was disappointing.
