I wasn't satisfied with just one bowl of sukiyaki don, so I decided to go to a ramen shop that I had been curious about. This place is known for its duck ramen, which is supposed to be delicious. The interior of the shop is quite clean, with a bright, white-based color scheme. I chose the oyakodon set for 270 yen plus the duck confit noodles for 1210 yen, totaling 1480 yen. The oyakodon is served as a side dish only, which is quite unusual. The ramen itself is served in a unique, deep dish as expected. The duck chashu consists of 6 small slices, along with chopped green onions, plenty of bonito flakes, and stir-fried leeks. The soup, which is clear soy sauce-based, has a hint of duck fat floating on top. When I took a sip of the soup, I noticed that the soy sauce flavor wasn't too strong. There was no hint of the occasional bitterness found in soy sauce-based broths. Despite its clarity, the soup didn't overpower with soy sauce, but rather complemented the flavor of the duck. This shop prides itself on using only duck, green onions, and water without any chemical seasonings. The taste, which I don't usually experience, had a well-balanced flavor. The noodles were very thin and generously portioned, absorbing the rich flavor of the soup. As for the duck meat, unlike smoked duck that I often eat, it wasn't greasy and had a unique chewy texture. It was perfectly cooked, not dry at all. And then there was the drinkable oyakodon. Of course, it was a mini size. I thought it would only include the top part of the oyakodon, but there was enough rice underneath. The combination of meat, egg, green onions, and sauce was incredibly delicious. It could stand alone as a dish. The broth was rich and flavorful, with a soft, drinkable consistency. I often hear about "drinkable" dishes lately, and I wonder if it refers to a dish like this with a thick sauce. Both the ramen and the oyakodon showed a strong commitment to quality. The flavors were high-quality yet bold, and even someone like me who doesn't like light flavors was satisfied. I think this is a truly remarkable restaurant. However, if you've just had sukiyaki don before, you might end up feeling a bit stuffed! (laughs)
