✨March 18, 2023 (Saturday) Our Dining Room Kasai Store✨Tomorrow is finally Disney day! We had dinner at this restaurant located about a 3-minute bus ride from our accommodation ☺️ There is a showcase with a variety of ingredients such as fish, vegetables, and more lined up, so you can freely choose and just have them microwaved at the checkout, making it easy to dine. You can choose the amount and type of rice, and I ordered a small amount of white rice. You can also choose multigrain rice. You can also choose the miso soup, and I ordered their famous pork miso soup. For side dishes, I chose salad and simmered spinach with konjac. The portions were just right, the konjac was slightly spicy, and the miso soup had a gentle flavor and was delicious. It seems like there are other branches of this restaurant, so I would like to try their fish dishes next time!

Happy New Year. Let's look back on the memories of the cashless campaign held in various districts in Tokyo in December. Also, let's continue the journey to conquer all "Wagaya" stores, the second stop. With only four stores in total, all located in East Tokyo, it's relatively easy to achieve. The 24-hour operation allows for a unique brunch drinking experience. The atmosphere at Kasai store is particularly pleasant. The system of choosing food, rice, miso soup or alcohol, heating up the food, self-service, and payment is the same in all stores. The menu includes Sapporo Lager beer, simmered daikon, mapo eggplant, and tuna belly, all delicious. The total bill was 1150 yen, with a 30% discount applied later. Unfortunately, I forgot to bring the loyalty card and 50 yen discount coupon. The goal for this year is to conquer all "Wagaya" stores, a seemingly challenging task. Remembering this commitment will be the hardest part.

Second visit. There are so many side dishes to choose from, it's fun. Most of them are in the 200 yen range. The 280 yen tuna bowl has a good thickness and taste, great value for money. The meatballs were a bit too sweet, but the rice was good. If you get a variety of dishes, it will cost over 1000 yen, but it's unreasonable to expect cheap prices at a 24-hour dining hall. This is the top choice for when you want a healthy and balanced meal.

Open 24 hours and cafeteria-style service drew me to visit. The menu is amazing with so many things I want to try. I had grilled mackerel with miso paste, fried egg, salad, natto, multigrain rice (with white rice available for seconds), and miso soup. The total came to 1,200 yen. The grilled mackerel was delicious! The other dishes were just average, but since they were all things I like, it was great. The portion sizes and contents of the small plates were just right. The natto had plenty of green onions. The dishes are mostly pre-made and reheated, but it didn't bother me at all. If you get a variety of dishes, the total can go over 1,000 yen, but since they are open 24 hours, I'm not looking for super cheap prices. It seems like the popular tuna bowl has increased in price, but price increases are the restaurant's legitimate right. Please make sure to make a profit. I will definitely be a repeat customer.

First time visiting this restaurant. According to my research online, besides Kasai, there are also locations in Nippori, Fukagawa, and Kameido in Tokyo (as of September 2022). This is a place for people who want to eat a variety of delicious and healthy food quickly and affordably! They have a wide selection of salads, meats, fish, and side dishes that make you want to come back for more. They also offer curry and udon, so the menu is quite extensive. The rice options include regular or healthy rice, and I chose the healthy rice which had red beans and multigrain rice mixed in. The miso soup can be upgraded to pork miso soup for an additional 20 yen, or at least that's what I think I was told (it was hard to hear clearly due to the speed). I opted for the pork miso soup. It's nice that they offer a variety of dressings. My total bill this time was around 1,300 yen. At the register, they told me to use the dish rack over there to clean up after myself, so I went back to my seat after paying and cleaned up. Next time, I'll make sure to clean up before paying. For a moment, I felt like I was being warmly welcomed at a relative's house nearby, but the staff didn't make much eye contact and seemed a bit stern. I thought customers would be happier if they were treated more like family. As of September 2022, they only accept cash or PayPay for payment.

I got too excited and ended up taking too many plates. Red sausages, ham and eggs, ham cutlets, mini salad, pork miso soup, and white rice, what a feast! And to finish it off, I had a plastic tea cup of coffee! I love this kind of cafeteria where you can choose your own dishes. The cheap feel is just fantastic!

A 24/7, 365 days a year, always open, delicious pork soup restaurant. You can enjoy a casual self-service style where you can eat right away without waiting. Various home-cooked flavors prepared by the motherly staff are available. I used a nearby coin parking lot as there was no parking information on Tabelog. Our dining hall has a total of 4 stores: Nippori, Fukagawa, Kameido, and here, Kasai. Unlike the "○○ Dining Hall" naming style of the company Fujio Food System, our restaurant is called "Maido Ookini Shokudo". With options like rice (168 yen), chicken tempura (267 yen), side dishes (188 yen), and kimchi natto (180 yen), you can create your own personalized set meal in a fun way. If you order the medium-sized rice for 168 yen during the lunch service from 10 am to 3 pm, you can enjoy unlimited refills of specially selected premium rice. Just let them know your preference and they will give you a generous serving during refills.

I visited a restaurant that offered a set meal for a total of 706 yen, consisting of small rice (128 yen), grated yam (178 yen), fried horse mackerel (148 yen), and half portion of mapo eggplant (188 yen). The restaurant is located about a 10-minute walk from Kasai Station on the Tozai Line. The exterior of the restaurant was very lively with decorations and lights, and there were even stand flowers outside. It was a Sunday around 1:30 PM, and there were 2 customers already seated and 3 customers who came in later. The restaurant was relatively spacious with plenty of available seats. The ordering process involved picking up small dishes, ordering rice and soup, waiting for the dishes to be heated, adding condiments, eating, and then the staff calculating the bill while you eat. The rice was normal, the grated yam was made with raw egg, the fried horse mackerel had a slight fishy smell, and the mapo eggplant had 4 slices of eggplant with a small amount of minced meat in a slightly spicy sauce. Overall, the restaurant seemed to focus more on the variety of dishes rather than the taste. They had a 60-minute limit for dining due to COVID-19 measures, and it seemed that many customers come to enjoy alcohol with the small dishes. Despite the measures, the restaurant was still quite empty. It was clear that the restaurant was facing challenges, but I appreciate their efforts. Thank you for the meal.

You can have everything you need here at this cozy bar, where you can relax by yourself without worrying about anything and get drunk while eating to your heart's content! Our place offers healthy meals and snacks to go with your drinks, although the bill can get a bit high if you choose to add alcohol. But overall, it's a great place to consider for a good night out.

I stopped by because I wanted to have a quick drink on my way home. 【Wagaya no Shokudo Kasai Store】I think it used to be part of the local restaurant chain, but the name has changed since I last visited. The basic style remains the same where you pick what you like with a tray and they heat up the hot dishes for you. Today, I chose the Stamina Bomb and Hocke. The Hocke came with grated daikon on top after being heated up. I also ordered a highball, and the total came to 1355 yen. It's cheaper than drinking at an izakaya, right? Not much different? Well, don't expect too much in terms of taste, it's that kind of place, haha. It's like eating at a cheap izakaya.

Along the Kan-nana road, there is a rare 24-hour open restaurant. I've been wanting to try their maguro butsudon set meal for a few years, but recently there was a significant price increase. I went there with my second son on bicycles. It's a diner similar to the Daikokuten in front of Kasai Station that I visited the other day. The self-service aspect is even higher than the Daikokuten, where you pick one dish at a time from the refrigerated showcase on the right side of the entrance, and order rice at the end from the kitchen. You pay at the end. If you order a medium rice for 150 yen or a large rice for 210 yen, refills are free. The rice seems expensive for a diner. It made me appreciate the concept of "free rice refills" at set meal restaurants or ramen shops. I was asked if I wanted miso soup, but later realized it would cost 170 yen. It was full of ingredients, which was nice, but at set meal restaurants, it's usually an additional 50 yen for miso soup. As for the maguro butsudon, it used to be 198 yen, but now it's over 300 yen including tax, and with only 2.5 slices of maguro, it doesn't seem worth it anymore. Plus, the cut is from the "but" part. The cold and thin feeling of the fried horse mackerel for 160 yen, simmered hijiki for 150 yen, and my son's favorite sausage and scrambled eggs for 170 yen. In the end, it was over 1100 yen. Perhaps the cost of operating 24 hours is reflected in the prices. It's more suitable for those who don't want to wait or want to quickly have a drink.

I was invited by the enticing smell of Maguro Butsu and decided to dive in. Since I had already eaten breakfast, it was time for a snack at 10 o'clock. I had the Maguro Butsu rice (small) with miso soup, which cost 490 yen. There were plenty of side dishes prepared for lunch. With just the above order, it's already a one-coin meal. If you add two more dishes, it quickly becomes a 1,000 yen course. Self-service restaurants may seem a bit pricey when considering cost performance. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is relaxed and perfect for enjoying your meal at your own pace. Thank you for the delicious meal.

5/26 Sunny Headed to Kasai Rinkai Park for clam digging, but first, looking for a bento or something in Kasai. Couldn't find one, so walked to the next bus stop and found a cafeteria. Decided to eat and drink here instead of getting a bento. They had self-serve side dishes lined up ready to go. Noodle dishes were made to order. Although it said homemade dishes, it didn't look like it once they were wrapped up, which was strange. There was a drink menu on the counter, fairly well-stocked. Seemed like they were eager to serve drinks. They didn't have set meal menus, so it seemed like they were expecting people to snack on the side dishes while drinking. ☆Dishes: Tuna, Green Onion with Tofu, Simmered Sardines, Wakame Seaweed Salad, Bonito with Ume Plum Flavor, Garlic ☆Drinks: Hoppy The tuna belly was said to be directly from Misaki Port. It was a bit sinewy, but had a nice balance between lean and fatty. Didn't taste frozen. Wanted something stewed, so got the green onion with tuna. It was lightly seasoned, but the tuna was tender and it had a unique taste that you wouldn't get making it at home. The simmered sardines were made by someone from Tsukudani. It was like a cold stewed dish, but the flavor was really good. The salad had a variety of dressings to choose from at the counter. They also had furikake for the rice. Although the sign said they had delicious pork miso soup, I didn't have it today. The Hoppy came in a glass that was 3/4 full, leaving a bit extra.

At first, Katsushika Station. It is located straight south from the station, about 5-6 minutes away. However, the Tokyo Metro has cheap fares! It's surprising. The farthest distance costs only 270 yen! Unbelievable. Now, the grand opening in front of the store catches the eye. I thought it was a new store and decided to use it, but looking at the reviews on Tabelog, it seems like it has been open for over half a year already (laughs). That new store opening... Inch○? The sign outside advertising maguro bowl for 180 yen and free rice refills caught my attention. The interior is a self-service cafeteria style where you pick your favorite dishes, pay at the register, and eat at an available seat. The menu mainly consists of Japanese dishes in the 100 yen range. There are sashimi, fried foods, simmered dishes, pickles, you name it, it's all there and you'll be spoiled for choice. They also have udon, soba, rice bowls, and curry rice. It's like a common self-service set meal restaurant where you can freely choose your combinations. The middle-aged lady staff is very friendly and welcoming. If you pick a variety of dishes, the total bill can be surprisingly cheap (laughs). It will probably cost around 700-800 yen for a normal meal. There are a few people having a drink alone during the day inside the store. They seem like regular customers. The rolled omelette was really delicious. 24-hour operation and open every day of the year is very convenient, right? I wish they would open one in Gunma too. Thank you for the meal.

I visited a self-service restaurant for lunch, which seems to be one of the chain of three stores currently operating in the Joto district. You first take a tray at the entrance, choose the side dishes displayed in the case yourself, get rice and miso soup at the rice receiving area, carry the tray to your seat, return the dishes to the shelf when you finish eating, check the amount on the receipt delivered to your table, and pay the money. I chose sweetened dried fish for 330 yen, grated dried fish for 130 yen, macaroni salad for 124 yen, and rice (medium) for 150 yen, along with miso soup that seems to be included in the rice price. When I re-heated the sweetened dried fish in the microwave, I noticed that it wasn't very fatty... and when I looked closely at the receipt, it turned out to be horse mackerel instead of mackerel... and it was a pretty big three-piece fillet... probably from Norway. The quality of the rice was average, but the miso soup had plenty of seaweed and fried tofu in it, which was nice. Since it was a holiday, many customers were drinking alcohol and getting drunk with the side dishes they chose, so the lunchtime atmosphere was not great. It's strange that even though the restaurant opened quite some time ago, a flashy grand opening sign is still inexplicably displayed. Thank you for the meal.

I arrived home late from work and decided to try a 24-hour diner, which I found to be quite rare. It had a casual atmosphere, but when I ordered a salad, two side dishes (including a 60 yen croquette), miso soup, and rice, the total bill came to almost 1000 yen. What's more, I realized it was pay after eating. I regretted not going to a place offering set meals for around 800 yen or an ethnic restaurant with sets for just under 1000 yen. It might be a good option for those looking to drink cheaper than at an izakaya. I probably won't revisit during dinner hours like this time, but the 100 yen coffee made with an espresso machine was better than what you'd get at a family restaurant.
