Hello~♪(^.^)/ Today's work meal was at Matsuya after a long time (*´ε`*)チュッチュ. I didn't plan to come here, but I saw a lot of buzz on Facebook and Twitter about "Shukumeruri revival!" So I asked what it was, and they said it's a dish from the country of Georgia. I looked it up and found out that it's a dish highly praised by the Georgian ambassador to Matsuya. So I decided to try it. I ordered the large size (which was free) at the ticket machine and waited for my number to be called. Finally, I got my order and sat down. The portion seemed small, so I asked if it was the large size, but they said it was normal. So I asked them to add more rice. Shukumeruri is a kind of stew dish with rice and miso soup. The stew had a flame underneath, and it took a while to cook. I wondered what was in it. The chicken was big, and I started eating. Wow, it was delicious! It tasted like garlic cheese fondue with chicken. There was also purple stuff in it, which turned out to be sweet potatoes. It was delicious too. I decided to play a little and added some rice to the stew. It turned into a cheesy rice dish and was amazing. I wished I had more rice to add. It was so good that I couldn't resist and finished it quickly. Then I saw that you could get a rice refill with the set meal. I regretted not knowing that earlier. It was a satisfying meal, and I wished I was born in Georgia for such delicious food. It was a painful mistake not to get a rice refill, but the meal was worth every penny. Goodbye~(^.^)/

Hello~♪(^.^)/ Today is July 21, and it's the Day of the Ox in the traditional Japanese calendar, so I had to have eel! This is my third time having eel this year. The first time was at Sukiya with their "Unagi Gyudon Set," the second time was at home with eel from the supermarket, and now it's my third time here at Matsuya. Matsuya always tempts me with their new menu items, and even though I always end up regretting it and saying I won't come back, this is actually my 15th time here. So far, the only thing I've liked is their curry dishes. However, their Butter Chicken Curry was terrible. Now, let's see how their eel is. As I look around, I don't see anyone else having eel... Did I make a mistake again? Feeling a bit anxious, I wait for my order. When the eel dish arrives, it looks good! The portion is generous, and the eel is from the head part, which is nice. Sukiya's eel dish only had the middle to tail part, so in terms of size, Sukiya wins. The meal also comes with pickles and miso soup. Additionally, there's a lot of GABAN sansho pepper in a wooden box. Sukiya only gave one packet of sansho pepper, so Matsuya wins in that aspect. Now, let's get ready to eat. First, I'll try the beef. The portion of beef is larger at Matsuya. Now, for the taste... It's surprisingly delicious! I had a bad experience with Matsuya's Premium Gyudon at Kinshicho, so I swore I wouldn't eat their beef bowls again. But this flavor is good, so I might come back occasionally. Once I finish the beef bowl, it's time for the eel. It's delicious! There's a charcoal-grilled aroma that adds to the flavor. The eel is plump and flavorful. Matsuya wins in terms of the thickness of the eel. Sukiya's eel was thinner and lacked a strong flavor. For the eel, Matsuya is the winner. However, whenever one restaurant introduces eel or a new dish, others quickly follow suit. It's like a monkey see, monkey do situation. But when someone shows their rear, no one else follows suit. It's a mystery. I take breaks with the pickles. They are delicious and have a strong umami flavor. Matsuya's pickles win over Sukiya's. Overall, the beef bowl, eel, and pickles were all delicious. Matsuya's pickles were especially tasty.

Brown Sauce Hamburg Donburi 490 yen. Ordered at 11:50 on a weekday, ready in about 10 minutes. Arrived home and enjoyed it right away. The brown sauce is very delicious and has a nice flavor. The hamburger was a bit firm, it would be even better if it was a bit more tender! The rice and sauce go well together. Considering the price, it's not bad. It feels like they were inspired by Loco Moco. It was the first day of the release of the Chunky Beef Curry, so by 12 o'clock, there were many panels showing it was in preparation for takeout orders placed online or by phone, and the staff were in a bit of a panic (laughs). I'd like to try another limited menu item next time!

Gorogoro Beef Curry for 690 yen. I ordered in-store on a weekday at 11:50 and it was ready for takeout in about 5 minutes. I decided to change things up and transferred it onto a plate before eating. The curry had plenty of beef and vegetables, which was satisfying. The curry itself was spicy and delicious, as expected. The beef had a lot of fatty parts, but it didn't bother me because it was tasty. Overall, it lacked the impact of the Gorogoro Chicken Curry. I'd like to try it again if they bring back the Gorogoro Chicken or introduce another interesting menu item.

Chunky Chicken Curry for 590 yen. Around 12:30 on weekdays, about 20% of the customers in the restaurant ordered, and received their food in about 5 minutes. When I opened the lid and poured it over the rice, I was amazed at the amount of chicken that covered the rice completely! The curry was authentically spicy with a lot of flavor, and the amount of chicken was impressive. I was very satisfied with this meal. It's understandable that it's a limited-time offer because the profit margin is not that high! I did some other shopping and had it reheated at home. It was convenient that the container could be microwaved as is! If the limited time offer continues for a longer period, I would definitely want to eat it again.

Premium Gyudon Bento for 300 yen. On weekdays at 12:00, I ordered a takeout bento and waited outside for about 5 minutes until it was ready. I received it in exchange for a ticket. When I opened it at home, I saw that the meat and rice were separated, similar to Yoshinoya's Gyudon. It's a really great service. When I opened the lid, I was surprised by the large amount of beef! It was tender and the slices were big. I was honestly surprised by the price of 300 yen! It's been so long since I last ate at Matsuya, so this is a significant improvement. I probably wouldn't have had the opportunity to eat this if it wasn't for this time. I would definitely like to use this service again!

Good morning~♪(^.^)/ 2020.04.24 Today is my second day back to work since McDonald's switched to takeout only. Last time, I had a tamagokake breakfast at "Sukiya". Today, I was thinking about what to eat and remembered that "Matsuya" also has breakfast options. So, I Googled it on the train. Since it's breakfast, I wanted to keep it under 200 yen. And I found it. Just under 200 yen at 290 yen, "Choose a small side dish with tamago kake gohan". The small side dishes are... natto, tororo, hiyayakko, gyudon. Alright, let's go with gyudon. Oh, it's quite crowded here. "Sukiya" was empty, but "Matsuya" seems to be more popular for breakfast. I bought the meal ticket and sat at a free counter seat. When my number was called, I went to pick up my order. Oh, the visual presentation is a bit plain. First, I prepared the egg. Unlike "Sukiya", the soy sauce is regular soy sauce. Once it was ready, I tried it. Isn't the rice a bit less? It might be less than "Sukiya's" mini. Let's start with the gyudon. I took a bite, chewed... Oh, it has a pretty strong flavor. This is making me want to eat more rice. Before it's all gone, I poured the egg generously. I mixed it in and ate it. Hmm, the soy sauce is missing... Oh, it's all gone in no time. It's not enough at all. For 290 yen, the cost performance is not great. While thinking that, I finished with miso soup. The miso soup had fried tofu and wakame, just like "Sukiya", but "Matsuya" had a larger portion. After finishing my meal, I relaxed and noticed the guy next to me eating the sausage and egg set. He left the sausage untouched and finished the rice. Are you only eating the sausage? I secretly watched him (laughs), and he left with his bowl. When he came back, his bowl was filled with a mountain of rice. Wow! You can get a rice refill here!! If that's the case, I could have had 2 bowls with gyudon and egg!! I see, that's why "Matsuya" was busier. I thought I wouldn't come back, but I might want to visit again. Next time, I might try the "Standard Morning Set" for 360 yen (tamago, nori, oshinko, choice of small side dish) or the "Sausage Egg Set" for 410 yen (fried egg, sausage, nori, oshinko, choice of small side dish). Which one should I choose? (It's not under 200 yen!) Bye~(^.^)/~~~

Hello~♪(^.^)/ 2020.04.22 I went to check out the Chinese restaurant "Seikyo Restaurant" as usual, but they are closed until May 6th! So, I decided to go to another Chinese restaurant, "Maruyasu Sakaba". They are closed for the whole month of April!!! Well, in that case, I'll just go have eel at Yoshinoya! For some reason, there's a Matsuya on the way to Yoshinoya. (Wherever you are, you're free to go!) But since Matsuya and I don't get along well, I had no interest and naturally passed by. But then, I saw a yellow flag. "Limited time revival! Chunky Chicken Stew Curry!" Really? Yay♪ (It's not a bad match after all!) I've been to Matsuya about 10 times, and most of the menu items were failures. But curry is always spot on. Especially this "Chunky Chicken Stew Curry". This "Chunky Chicken Stew Curry" is the best menu item in Matsuya's history♪ (Note: The opinion of the deceased) (Why are you dead?) The last time I had the Chunky Chicken Stew Curry was last May. It's been a year. (Don't you know Japanese?) I'm excited like Owakudani. Just like in upper elementary school. It's been about that long. I'm about to put on a bra. (Why are you talking about that?) Oh, it seems it's ready. (Finally!) I received my tray and sat at a table. "Wow, it's been a year. I missed you♪ Have you changed?" (Don't talk to the curry!) There's a lot of big chicken in it, so I was debating how much rice to get, but in the end, I went with a large serving. The visual impact is as strong as ever. It's more like a chicken dish than curry. Let's try it out (^^♪ This curry is best enjoyed by dipping the rice in the curry, not pouring the curry over the rice. Dip the rice in the curry, take a bite, chew... Delicious! It's incredibly tasty! The perfect level of spiciness and curry flavor is irresistible. It's 2,000 yen. It's a perfect taste (^^♪ Now, let's try the chicken. Take a bite, chew... It's juicy.♪ I love the onions. They're not mixed in the curry but served on the side. It's obvious they weren't cooked with the curry. Yet, they're seasoned perfectly, just like Amami Oshima! (What's that like?) It's nice when your hands are free. (It's crowded!) I want to eat the chicken and rice together. But the chicken is too big... Oh, it's too big to fit in my mouth! (What do you want to do with the curry?) So, the chicken is too big to fit in my mouth! (Then don't write it like that!) Shut up already... So, I cut the chicken in half and put it on top of the rice. Take a bite, chew... Oh, it's great, it's gorgeous! (Is this directed by Toru Muranishi?) I used to always get a large serving of rice, but there was always enough curry, and in fact, there was a bit left over. This is called the "Rou Daishiba" (Where is that from?) I wonder what it's doing now? (Don't reminisce!) Enjoying the taste after a year, I finished it in no time. Pong! Pong pong pong, pong! Pong! (Quiet!) Lastly, the miso soup. It has fried tofu and seaweed in it. It's the same ingredients as Yoshinoya, but here, the portion is more generous. But Matsuya's miso soup is a bit... (Which one?) Mifasorashido. (Are you crazy?) I was deeply moved by the Chunky Chicken Stew Curry after a year! I'm glad I didn't go for eel at Yoshinoya! Large serving, 690 yen. Click. Goodbye~(^.^)/~~~

Unfamiliar dish name. Looks like stew. Georgian cuisine...? Limited time offer. Heard it's the most delicious garlic dish in the world, so I decided to try it. It arrived about 10 minutes after ordering. There was a solid candle under the pot, so it stayed hot until the end. Appetizing garlic flavor. Cheesy white stew with plenty of chicken chunks. Sweet and fluffy sweet potatoes. Overall, a good balance. After enjoying the ingredients, I added rice to the white stew. After savoring that, I added pickled ginger on the table for a flavor change. The stew is quite flavorful, so it can be enjoyed as it is, but changing the taste or having it with salad can keep you entertained until the end without getting bored. I had never experienced Georgian cuisine before, so I would like to research other dishes as well. Thank you for the meal.

Today is Niku no Hi (Meat Day)♪ Matsuya is offering a limited-time menu called the "Meat Galore Gourmet Set" until 9/3, featuring three times the amount of meat compared to their regular beef bowls. I couldn't miss this opportunity, so I hurried over to the restaurant. Located near Daikoku Tamajinja Shrine, just a short walk from Fuchu Station on the Keio Line. It may be a bit hard to spot from the main street, but once inside, you'll find several counter seats with privacy screens and tables in the back. Despite the spacious interior, there weren't many customers during the lunch hour. I ordered the "Meat Galore Gourmet Set" for ¥930 using the touch panel ticket machine. The options for rice size were mini, regular, large, or extra-large, all at the same price. As expected, I chose the extra-large size. The order placed at the ticket machine was immediately transmitted to the kitchen. It's a system similar to the food courts at service areas. A wall-mounted monitor displays whether the order is "in progress" or "ready," with a number for identification. When your number is called, you go pick up your order, just like at Sukiya. I poured myself some cold water and found a free counter seat to wait for my order. After a few minutes, my number was called, and I picked up my meal. The bowl was overflowing with rice, a generous serving of beef, miso soup, and salad. Despite ordering the extra-large size, the bowl was only half full. I'm not sure if that was correct, but it was still satisfying. I started with the salad, a simple mix of corn, cabbage, and sesame dressing. Then, I dug into the beef bowl, which had an impressive amount of meat. I grabbed a mouthful with my chopsticks and savored the rich flavors. It was a bit too intense, so I added some shichimi and pickled ginger for a change. Although I forgot to add the raw egg topping, the sukiyaki-style was also delicious. I finished the meal, feeling content but still puzzled by the rice portion. Recently, many beef bowl chains have been promoting their special large and mega-sized bowls, but in the end, the regular size seems to offer the best value. Nonetheless, if you're craving a meaty meal, it's worth a try. Thank you for the meal~

This time, I took a night bus from Nagoya, originally planning to get off at the final stop, the Shinjuku Bus Terminal. However, when I heard that the bus also stops in Fuchu, it seemed more convenient for me to get off there. So, before dawn, I got off at Fuchu Station. Unlike the bustling Ikebukuro and Shinjuku, there are limited shops open 24 hours or in the early morning. Right in front of where I got off the bus, there was a 24-hour restaurant called "Matsunoya," but having tonkatsu for breakfast seemed a bit much, so I passed on that. On my way to Fuchu-Honmachi Station, I found another 24-hour restaurant called "Matsuya," so I decided to go in. At the storefront, it seemed they were promoting the "Gorogoro Chicken with Chili Sauce Set Meal" that was highly praised by the Yuta website, but having that for breakfast so early didn't seem right. I ended up purchasing a breakfast set ticket that included a mini premium gyudon and miso soup. This Matsuya operates on a self-service basis, where you buy a ticket at the machine, it gets relayed to the kitchen, and when your order is ready, you are called by number to pick it up. It felt like a system similar to a government office or hospital reception. Shortly after waiting, my number was called. I received the set, where the miso soup bowl was slightly larger than the mini gyudon, but the portion was just right for breakfast. It's still a bit chilly in the early morning at this time of year, so having a generous serving of miso soup was much appreciated. Overall, I was satisfied. (5 points out of 10)

■Visit Date: March 27, 2019 ■Items Received: - Gyudon (Beef and Egg Rice Bowl) - Tonjiru (Pork Miso Soup) Set ■MEMO Visited on March 27, 2019. Had work in Fuchu in the afternoon. Still have work to do, but getting hungry. Will be working late into the night, so decided to have dinner at this place. The restaurant operates on a food ticket system, where you pick up your order when it's ready and return your empty dishes yourself. It's like a smaller version of a food court. This was my first time trying the Gyudon, where beef and egg are served over rice. It was undeniably delicious. Opted for the large portion of rice and had it with the set's Tonjiru. Despite the temperature exceeding 20 degrees in Tokyo today, it's still warm even at this time... Drinking the pork miso soup makes me break a sweat. Filled my stomach, now onto the next task. ■Blog https://ay-style.net/?p=37035

I went to have breakfast after drinking until dawn, and I arrived at the restaurant where they serve breakfast and lunch. When I got there, it was still before 5 o'clock, and there were only 2 or 3 people inside. In the back, two of them seemed to have missed the last train and were talking to each other. I bought a meal ticket and sat at the counter seat. This time, I went with the grilled salmon set with a side of natto. It was served in about 3 minutes. - Taste Evaluation - Grilled Salmon Set (with natto) This feels like a typical Japanese breakfast (laughs). The grilled salmon was cooked perfectly and made me want to eat a lot of rice. And the fact that you can eat this for only 450 yen is great, right?

In the early morning, before the first train, I visited the restaurant to have breakfast. There were a few people eating breakfast even though it was still early. I ordered the Sausage and Egg set meal, which came with two sunny-side up eggs, sausages, natto (fermented soybeans), seaweed, green onions, and pickles. It was a luxurious meal. The eggs and sausages were delicious, and the combination of rice, natto, seaweed, and pickles was excellent.

Good morning! Today, I went to Matsuya for breakfast and tried their Sausage and Egg set meal. The visual presentation was nice and the meal included seaweed, sausage, egg, pickles, and a choice of side dish (I chose mini beef bowl). The seaweed was a bit thin but came in a good quantity. The beef bowl was delicious, the egg was normal, and the pickles were okay. The sausage was a bit oily and lacked flavor. Overall, the meal was satisfying. I also had salad with French dressing, which was lacking in acidity. Finally, I had miso soup to finish off the meal.

As I was wandering through the alleys of Fuchu, a catchy sign for "Beefsteak Bowl" caught my eye. Matsuya boasts a "delicious sauce to enjoy beef" made with garlic sesame soy sauce. Intrigued by the promotion, I had no choice but to enter and order the Beefsteak Bowl set from the ticket machine. I waited at my table for my order number to be called. When it was finally called, I picked up my meal. The bowl was filled with slices of beef, topped with a side of pickled vegetables. The meat portion was surprisingly generous. I sprinkled some shichimi pepper and took a bite. The meat was tough, even though it was lean red meat. It was a challenge for my aging jaw strength, but I persevered. The garlic sesame soy sauce seeped into the rice, making it surprisingly tasty. I also realized that Matsuya's rice is quite delicious. Despite the struggle with the tough meat, I managed to finish the meal. The garlic smell that lingered afterwards was quite strong. The salad that came with the set had a peculiar taste, with the vegetables lacking flavor. Overall, the Beefsteak Bowl at Matsuya turned out to be an unexpected test of strength.

While thinking of Georgia, I decided to try the Shukmeruli dish at Matsuya in the bustling downtown area of Fuchu, which has been a topic of discussion since last year. I used the large touch panel ticket machine to order the Shukmeruli dish. With the ticket in hand, I looked around the restaurant somewhat bewildered. The self-service system meant that I had to secure a table first and then wait for my number to be called to pick up the dish. It took about 10 minutes for my number to be called, and I finally got my order. The dish looked like a simple white stew but had a strong garlic aroma. As I started eating, the dish was very hot due to being heated with solid fuel. The chicken slices and sweet potatoes were delicious, and the creamy garlic flavor surprisingly harmonized well with the stew and melted cheese. The intense garlic flavor that had been discussed online turned out to be quite intriguing. The dish remained hot until the end due to the solid fuel, which was unexpected. The combination of creamy garlic flavor and the sweet taste of sweet potatoes was surprisingly good. It seemed like a unique combination created by Matsuya. The unique pot used for the dish also caught my attention, and I felt like I was witnessing Matsuya's expertise. The rich flavor and intense garlic taste directly appealed to the Japanese palate, making it a dish that is likely to be well-received. Matsuya, with its focus on solo dining, has become almost like a part of the city's infrastructure, similar to convenience stores. With alcohol disinfectant provided at the entrance, it is an ideal place for quiet dining, especially given the current circumstances.

I met up near Fuchu Station and found a place for breakfast. I discovered a Matsuya restaurant while walking down a side street near the city hall. I couldn't find any other options, so I decided to have breakfast there. I ordered my breakfast ticket from the machine and waited for my order. The tea was self-service, and after finishing my meal, I returned the tray. The restaurant is located just off the Ginkgo tree-lined street, but it may be difficult to spot from the main street due to its recessed location.
